Pampering, Beauty and Personal Care From St. Nails - Nail Spa in Makati

Friday, October 04, 2013

Sometimes I sit and wonder what else have I not been able to pay attention to. I've been one of the vainest persons I know but when I got invited to an intimate event last week, it reminded me of how it feels how to pamper yourself every once in a while. I also felt I forgot all about my nails and how it feels to be made on this part of John. Heck I felt it was going to be awkward and too girly but no, I think I've never felt so right at home in this quaint nail spa in Makati. I went in and got comfy, that was a nice decision on my part.

This is St. Nails - Nail Spa. It's right at the huge Petron Gas Station outside Dasmarinas Village and is frequented by residents of the same; plus a crowd from nearby offices in Makati. They are open all day everyday and close quite late in the evening. Some of their clients spend time after office hours as they want to feel relaxed after a hard day at work.

Their people pay close attention to details, so as soon as you enter their nail spa you'd feel welcomed and right at home. Sitting alone in one of those purple chairs might scare you but believe me it was super comfortable. They even put a hot, aromatic neck pillow on my back to add to that. Felt so good that I was tempted to close my eyes; but I just had to document everything so I can tell you about it. I am sacrificing a lot for you guys geeze LOL!

They spruced up the shop as you might have seen. I immediately thought that this would be perfect for intimate family, friends who want a bridal shower (or bachelor parties who knows!) or just that special time you want to relax with a group because they've got packages fit for that. Nothing specific but I suggest you ask about it with them since they can customize the party to fit your budget. That's worthy of a praise because they won't shortchange you when it comes to their services. They even are okay if you want to arrange catering or bringing food from outside because the last thing they want is to bring more hassle and stress to the occasion.

Or better yet, tell the management if you prefer them to prepare desserts and pastries. From yummy cupcakes, hors d'oeuvres, small sandwiches to these dessert jars.. they can probably do that. All you need to do is ask. =)

Going back to the nail spa experience, I would need to experience it myself of course! I immediately went for their treatment that involves paraffin wax in it. It was one of their most popular services and I think I know now why.

So after a wash, a scrub of salts and grainy apricot lotion on my feet... they cleaned my nails via pedicure. What I noticed about their people is that they ask you first before they do anything on your nails. Not that I have anything special needed for my feet but I only go to foot scrubs and don't let other people touch my nails. I get a little afraid on that department, but you know what made me think otherwise? That look on the attendant's face, she was confident and didn't bother at all... she wasn't even nervous.. like she's been doing this for years.

Looks like she's having a hard time? hahaha

I must say, after the things she did on my nails, I was freaking glad I agreed to this. Their technical expertise in cleaning nails is unquestionable. For a guy like me to love it this much, that is big news. As a matter of fact a huge percent of their customers are guys. No wonder the rich and powerful come to this place a lot, geeze we're missing something good! LOL

Now after cleaning up my hands and feet, the proceeded giving me a short hand and foot massage plus a couple of rounds of nice fruity lotions on the side.

They prepared me for the next phase of this treatment package which is the paraffin wax thing I mentioned earlier. I've seen this done to my friends, some foreigners and even on TV but I've never tried it to tell you honestly. It's my first time and I've got lots of expectations. Now for those of you who don't know, this thing has been done as early as the Roman empire. It's also been approved by the US FDA because it's proven to make your skin softer and smoother. Not that I need it but who doesn't want to do it even more right? Hehe.. and so we did the next best thing.

Now just to give you a picture it was really hot but bearable. It stayed like this for quite some time, then warm, then when it was already a little cold they proceeded to do the "taking off" process.

They were pretty careful in taking it out and it was really nice to get out of that heat. It felt cool, plus the smell of some floral herbs probably lingered in the background. Lavender if I'm not mistaken, and it was resonating throughout my hands and feet. Plus, my skin was just so nice after that. So it is true!

I'd like to take this bit and thank Annaliza who did my nails and the whole procedure for the paraffin wax treatment. She really took care of me and she's really an expert at this, I might go back pretty soon just because of the things she's done for me! Thank you also to the management of St. Nails - Nail Spa who made sure this pampering trip was a memorable one! Plus when I saw people beside me, they also got those fantastic nail arts on them. Pretty good!

Now I'm not saying everyone should do this... but guys, women love nice and clean nails if you are holding their hands or doing something naughty. If you're out on a date, or just after work... it would really be the perfect complement... to hear that coming from her. After all, first impressions last! So make sure that the next time you think about doing some pampering for you, your special someone, your friends or family... go ahead and try out St. Nails - Nail Spa in Makati. It's totally worth it!

Marian Rivera, Aiai Delas Alas in Kung Fu Divas: Showing October 2!

Tuesday, October 01, 2013

Two bankable stars from different stations one day wondered, what if they were given the opportunity to work with each other? Of course I'm talking about Ms. Aiai Delas Alas and Marian Rivera! I was there a few weeks ago to see a glimpse of Star Cinema, Reality Entertainment and The O&Co's offering called Kung Fu Divas. This is part of Star Cinema's celebration of their 20th anniversary and by golly I can't believe Marian is here. This would have been impossible in the past but since she's gone ahead and produced this as well, it'll surely be something to look forward too.

To tell you honestly we were already laughing due to the antics of Ms. Aiai Delas Alas when they entered the room. I couldn't quite concentrate because I was laughing profusely at her story where she didn't feel so special because there wasn't catering services when they were making films before. But when Marian Rivera came into the picture, they had it almost everyday! I guess that's how they treated GMA's queen of prime time right? Just like royalty... and she deserves it wouldn't you say so? =)

Now going back to the film, these two guys right here represent the company that painstakingly took hours and hours of legwork to provide state of the art and world class computer graphics to the movie. We have to THANK THEM for making the effects and scenes like it was real life! I bet pretty soon, we would be at par with the Oscars in this department. I'm a computer engineer and kind of a skeptic when it comes to these things. But really, I was so impressed by their work I'd want to recommend these guys to film makers in the future. Imagine, two beauty queens, turned martial artists, turned ninjas turned magicians all in one! They even made this extra special but submitting with the deadline almost up. Making this while it was flooding in Manila was doubly hard they say; but that's a true story!

See this guy beside Marian? He's Edward Mendez. You must have seen him most of the time in ramp and commercials but now he's doing a good job in this film. Director Onat Diaz says "Edward is a real discovery here, and you might think he's not going to do anything but strip down half naked in this film, but you're so wrong. He's got quite a number of lines that will surely tell the story of this project. He even did the stunts himself so imagine how hard he worked for the scenes that he did without a double. He is a discovery!" so for people who want to see him naked, you will be satisfied... but more because he's really done a lot with the story. You just have to find out what that means as the film shows on theaters tomorrow.

Yes you heard that right... this will be out October 2. As a matter of fact, they went out with a bang this evening on their premier night.

Check out the cast!

The New Nokia Lumia 625 With Amazing 4G Speed!

Nokia Philippines invited us over to see what they had in store for the Filipinos this quarter. As you may have seen a couple of months ago, they launched the one and only Nokia Lumia 625 and the good news is it's here! Yeap you heard that right, the Nokia Lumia 625 finally landed on Philippine shores and it's here to give you and I a better alternative to clearer, crisp videos without fear or prejudice in providing a 480x800 sized 199ppi density screen. I must say it has so many things that Filipinos would really love right from the get go. I love to take home the one I was playing around with but I'm sure this will be available on all carriers in a very affordable plan. Mr. Karel Holub, the General Manager of Nokia Philippines introduced to us this 4.7 inch wonder.

The Nokia Lumia 625 is the most affordable LTE phone in their line. This isn't sold quite largely yet in the country but the promise is to have this be available for the ordinary Juan. They are pricing this quite fair at an RRP of 13,200 pesos. It's one of the most capable phones they have that will mark quality on the areas of  music, videos, imaging and even navigation. This is also going to hold a revolutionary camera engine that can also shoot pure motion HD; plus will also be capable of wireless charging that is unprecedented on other smart phones. This handset also has HERE maps pre-installed which is like augmented reality if you use it in real time. You can even see the location of your friends on it's prime time, which acts more like that dragon radar you used to see in the Dragon Ball series.

We also tried them out that afternoon together with other media practitioners and it's quite surprising to note that this Window 8 powered phone only requires around 119 MB of RAM to run smoothly. If you choose an upgraded version of it via Windows Phone 8 Amber, it will run around 212 MB on a good day. Isn't that amazing?

While other phones still use wireless G IEEE standards, this one uses BG and N plus, it can also act like a hotspot for your cheap friends who don't have a data plan LOL. Maybe in the near future, Nokia will adapt to AC standards too. Why not?

Mike Smith, the Product Manager of Nokia Philippines says that they used to have 7,000 apps initially on the Windows Store. Today, they are now up to 175,000 and steadily increasing in useful and worthwhile apps. This is what they were gunning for in the beginning and it's such an awesome treat to see that developers have taken interest in the phones and OS that runs it.

The most important factor in choosing a phone for Filipinos by the way is "Battery Life" as their survey says. So Nokia again will step up the bat and say that this Nokia Lumia 625 has the perfect Li-Ion 2000 mAh Battery to come with it. It's going to last 552 hours of stand by time, 24 h (on 2G) or 15 h 10 min (on 3G) talk time and a whopping  90 hours of music play. I don't think the nice phones you have can match that.

For what it's worth, I'd really love to have this one soon. How about you? Don't you think it's time to have a Nokia? =)
