The Smart Bro Live and Loud Concert!

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Happy that I got the chance to meet people behind Smart a couple of weeks ago. It's time that I tell you this awesome experience when I covered the Smart Bro Live and Loud Concert. Honestly, I was already startled just by looking at the lineup of bands that was set to perform that evening. This was above and beyond the coolest way to spend an awesome night with friends and music lovers. Big thanks to Smart Bro who made this all possible! Then they started!

Opening the show was Save Me Hollywood. They're composed of some guys from Chicosci and Typecast fronted by Juliann Savard who's a former MYX VJ. They did their singles that are more on the Filipino rock, pop, punk and alternative genre. Pretty good.

While the concert was happening, Smart Bro and Smart Corporation had come out with very special offers and rates to patrons who were there that evening.

They even got booths that showcase the latest Internet connection kits, phone units and fun ones like this Instagram inspired one that prints out everything you hashtag with SmartLiveandLoud that evening.

They even got better speeds on these gizmos. I also had to connect to one of these because my data plan with the OTHER network was like hell. Now it was easy for me to tweet and inform my friends elsewhere where the party was!

Oh and if they couldn't go there, this whole concert was streamed LIVE ON YOUTUBE! This is the country's first LIVE INTERACTIVE CONCERT and judging by the throng of people viewing the concert alone, it was awesome!

Then SLAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM it was time for a band oozing with machismo. It's FRANCO!

I didn't know I'd like this band THIS much. Their tunes Touch the Sky and Better Days was awesome!

Internet Action Star Ramon Bautista provided comic relief and romance as he made his moves with Carla D of Magic 89.9! He was hilarious I tell you!

See what I mean??? Hahaha!

Then the crowd went wild when this guy was introduced. Rico Blanco!

There was no doubt that he was a total concert performer! He even wore his fancy get up - alter ego when he performed his hits that evening like Yugto and some Rivermaya songs. Sweet!

His sound is getting more and more into the classic rock ones. He's got something going on for sure.

Then, pretty Barbie Almalbis went on stage and did some of her acoustic hits. I love the "TABING ILOG" theme. :)

Then my idol came along. Thank the gods of Olympus it's Ely Buendia!

Everybody was eagerly awaiting this part, Ely Buendia gave above and beyond what I expected! He's so good I would have stayed forever there no joke! Grabe! LOL

Things like these do not happen without a reason. It's because Smart Bro knows how to throw a party, a concert and stream it worldwide! I loved every bit of this LIVE AND LOUD concert. It's pretty clear why they are the better network. Make sure you are there the next time they throw something BIGGER BETTER and STRONGER soon!

The Charm of a Red Wine CANON Pixma MG3570

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Hey guys! It's a great day today so I'm making it even greater by letting you in on the latest CANON printers that are available in the Philippines. This is the CANON Pixma MG3570.

It's one of the best multifunction printers they have in the 3500 line. The generic driver for the series works for this model and you can either download it off their website or just use the one that came with the CD. The file is also small so you won't have any problems using the one from the site.

At first glance, I couldn't believe CANON would gamble and use a different color this time. Though common for their brand, people would usually shy away from the color RED WINE as it would pose more on the feminine side. Though it is the "uniqueness" of its color which probably would sell it off. I was so happy that they deviated away from the normal black or white palette (which by the way they have too in this model) and pretty soon, designers would have fun mixing and matching this device with existing office furniture making it one of the best looking printers in the market.

There's a warning label on the box that specifically indicates that this printer should always be used by genuine CANON Inks since it will void the warranty of your device if it gets damaged by third party ones.

The box also contains the instructions on how to install. It's available in different languages. Plus, there's also papers to register your device so you can avail of Canon's expert professional services. It's bundled with every Pixma printer purchase. That's a neat deal since it would usually cost you a lot to get this from other tech providers. It's also got the usual data and power cable which is separated on a small box inside the pack.

This unit requires #740 Black and #741 Canon Cartridges. This one comes with the printer when you purchase it but I've seen in their catalog that there are ones in XL sizes. That's an awesome deal for those who are planning to print out huge photos.

I can't stop drooling because I LOVE THIS PRINTER! It doesn't have FAX capabilities which is kind of passe to put on things like these days. Documents should be sent through email right? Signed, scanned and emailed back. That's how we should do it. It probably had an effect also on the price because it retails at PhP 4,695.00 only. You can probably have better deals in CANON stores, all you got to do is ask and I'm sure their people can cut out a few percent off the shelf price.

Now there are pro's and cons on the buttons displayed on the Canon Pixma MG3570, without the display you wouldn't be able to manually connect to the wireless LAN without using a PC on a secured network. When I installed this printer on my laptop, it only took a few minutes. Then it prompted me to connect to the network via its own network software. It kinda copied the settings of my Wireless Zero Configuration and just asked to click the network name. The settings and all were embedded already, so that made things easy. Aside from that, it's got the A4 and 4x6 photo paper buttons so if you plan to print via Apple Airprint technology, just a few seconds and poof! You got your photos printed. I even got to do my A4 sized shots done afterwards. No hassle whatsoever!

The paper tray can extend up to the length shown above. You can pull out the part where it's got that slot on top. The catch tray also use this arm and flap for your long ones making your life easy.

Aside from the fact that it's the prettiest piece of printing technology that I have ever seen, it also boasts a huge flatbed scanner which can fit most of your office documents that don't usually work with other brands in the market. The price range is competitive and you can only expect the best from CANON.

Here's a video review I made for the CANON PIXMA MG3570. Watch this as I print some of the photos that my friend sent me. This was part of his wedding album and he chose a few that he wanted to blow up in A4 sized papers.

If that wasn't enough to convince you to get this CANON MG3570, I don't know what will!

Just look at what I got printed out! =) Isn't this neat? Absolutely great prints from a charming printer!

PESO SENSE: The Philippine Financial Freedom Campaign!

Friday, October 18, 2013

Toshihiro Tanaka says that in spite of developing countries, equality remains a problem. The world distribution of equality is susbtantially not implemented. Migration gives this to overseas workers but needs to be done in their original country. It should be included in development objectives. An opportunity to link and transform Filipinos by financial literacy through the launch of the Philippine Financial Freedom Campaign.

We need to integrate migration into new economic agendas.

Secretary Imelda Nicolas shared her views on how some overseas Filipinos come home without financial stability, but adds there is hope. Even though we shop til we drop, we should be spending wisely and they'll do this via a christmas themed campaign. This includes macro economic policies on remittances or private money transfers. Improving financial initiatives that will benefit the Filipino worker and their community. Financial literacy will be supported by local and national governing bodies. Modules are currently even done in seminars for OFW deployment that encourages saving and entrepreneurship. A great start for every age and financial status. She mentions a program called PESO SENSE which teaches skills and advice on saving plus pointers on how to acheive financial freedom.

Mr. Patrick Gaston  the President of the Western Union Foundation says that this is such an important initiative for the Philippines and other countries. Their company decided to focus on education together with their NGO partners and see that vocational training, financial literacy is a very good example when they meant education for making lives better. Western Union says they want to approach this together with their business partners and the community so it would have meanigful impact.

Dr. Felipe Medalla, Monetary Board Member adds Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas fully supports this synergy and says we must harness technology too so we can level the playing field and increase the middle class. This would result in change in leadership, as we see now in the PDAF issue. As we get older our earnings rise but our expenditures follow suit. Educating is really important, this also includes dealing with uncertainty or problems in jobs and health. It's not an easy task, a very tall order but realizing this is the first step. He also mentioned the difference between economics and sociology. People should think about this campaign, but we have to note that GDP isn't a good measure for our national accounts since it doesn't include the real picture. Ours could be more if only our leadership does not lose focus. Improve remittances, make it fast and let the people benefit from it.
