Avida’s South Park District Now Has Mercato Centrale

Friday, November 08, 2013

I've been to the south a few days ago to see what's happening over there and was happy to see Mercato Centrale finally opened it's doors in the Alabang area. There was pounding music and proud waving flags in Avida's South Park District. This hosts artisans and new business owners on a market laid on a 6.6 hectare land which was previously the home of Nestle Philippines.

The space had so much mouth watering food that you would forget your name every time you pass by each vendor. Your favorite grilled beef kebab (shown above) looks so good (which is in its gigantic form) so you would really love how it looked like right off the grill. Then you go ahead and smother it with their special sauce... by this time you would really have lost your mind.

Your protein diet won't end there because they also have Chicken Kebab. The lighter more soft meat just adds to the multitude of grilled wonders served in Mercato Centrale. If you fancy a more adventurous eat, then why not get some of your favorite ISAW! Oooh this is so good!

Perfectly cooked, parts are hot and crispy then you dip it into slightly chili-fied vinegar oh you wouldn't stop with one stick. Don't let anyone tell you to stop! :D

Roasted beef slices tucked in a soft pillowy pita bread with slices of onions, tomatoes and more roasted veggies plus garlic + yogurt sauce puts you in the perfect picnic mood right in the heart of Alabang.

Bringing in Mercato Centrale to Avida's South Park District was a no brainer because this was something that they have envisioned to be their thrust as soon as everything has been put up. They are planning to have 8 towers in total to this 6.6 hectare property. The property will have it's own Ayala mall which also means it will get all the brands existing ones carry (like Trinoma, Greenbelt etc). They will also be calling it Southpark mall. The towers will eventually have their own different name but it will have the typical avida tower size which is around 22-36 floors. They will also be putting up a park in the middle and they want to make it grand since this is the first township project of Avida.

Entertainment for residents and shoppers will be provided by the mall on a regular basis. They plan to put up the park by next year so people can enjoy that while waiting for the towers to be built. There will be BPO companies and hotels also in the plans so there are opportunities to work within the area. Two big companies already purchased floors. They have invested around 5 billion just for the mall so you get how GRAND this is going to be, and trust Avida because this is just the beginning.

Ms. Joyce De Guzman, Avida South Park's Marketing Manager and Ms. Rowena Cruz the Project Development Manager showed us around the property and promises your own eden within the city.

No worries too on traffic and flooding because they are working with the LGU for road capacity and traffic. They are also putting up a huge retention tank and putting the actual properties a meter up so your cars won't get wet even on its tires. This is an 8,000 square meter park that we are talking about here so it's pretty huge. All these residential units are on medium price range and they are excited to offer this to even locals. They already have people from Cavite, Quezon and nearby provinces inquiring and acquiring units so make sure you do that too before it's too late. They are hoping to have acts like the Supremo by Ballet Philippines or similar ones plus other music acts lined up as this gorgeous location so if there's a perfect time to get your units down south, this is it!

Southpark promises more but you better check it out yourself and see what promise this property has to make your dreams come true in the South of Manila.

Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 7

Thursday, November 07, 2013

One epic night deserve some gorgeous photos. I've covered them last year and this year's Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 7 was surely awesome! The crowd was rocking, the multitude of bands who performed were well appreciated. Thousands of people flocked the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds taking advantage of the tickets they got from drinking one of the best rhums in the world... TANDUAY!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

How can you not love seeing Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Rico Blanco, Sponge Cola, Wolfgang, Gloc 9, Color it Red, Ebe Dancel, True Faith, The Youth, Chicosci, Sandwich, Kitchie Nadal, Barbie Almabis, Alamid, Abra, Session Road, General Luna, Frank Magalona, Hilera, The Dawn, Franco, Up Dharma Down, Siakol and 6cyclemind all in one place? You must be out of your mind!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

Barbie Almalbis stayed away from the acoustic set she did on other stints and got back to her stuff with a cloud of electric guitar goodness and played the classic hits we loved.

(c) Mikz Marcelo

He's back and he's even got a Rhum Coke on his hand. He's no other than the great lover boy Chito Miranda who gave the crowd superior performance with Parokya ni Edgar. He didn't hold back on performance level and it was awesome to hear him sing with other artists during the Tanduay Rockfest Year 7. Him + GLOC9 = EPIC!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

Jet Pangan and The Dawn singing SALAMAT above all things brings back memories. He's the best in his class and brings REAL music hands down. No matter what genre, people still appreciate their music because its genuine... salamat for everything. Thank you for getting in touch with the crowd too!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

People don't go crazy as JAY of Kamikazee. Put him on stage plus a couple of gorgeous girls and he'll surely ask for a GROUP HUG. No malice or pun intended. He's the real deal ladies man and he rocked MOA Grounds that night.

6CycleMind's former frontman Ney Dimaculangan shows us he's still got it. This guy's vocal adrenaline is tops. He's voice is really good and mighty perfect for rockstars. He's the real deal and this was doubly great when he also got on stage with other artists.

What's even better is that even if you missed this concert, they'll be showing it on TV as Tanduay Rhum Rockfest VII premiers via Sunday Night Box Office on GMA-7 November 10, 2013. It shows around 10PM-12AM so make sure you don't touch that remote if you wish to have this rockfest in your homes!

Plus there'll be MORE provincial tours like the Tanduay First Five in LUCENA City which happens on November 15 at the Alcala Sports Complex. To get tickets, just purchase Tanduay 5 years or Tanduay Light 750 ML and go to Leoning Store - Tagarao Street, Brgy. Philippine Fashion Week SS 2014 - SM Men's Fashion

Tuesday, November 05, 2013

Thanks to people from SM Men's Fashion we got to cover the runway show held the evening after David Gandy's interview. It was packed and I think we were able to see what's coming next for this particular brand. I must say, they've got a bright future ahead of them!

Punk Rock Street Wear was first. I guess they've been inspired by this look which has been more liberating in fashion houses in Europe and the US. SM Men's Fashion is conquering the global stage and this definitely is a good start.

I love the denim pants, denim jackets and the coats for a more dressed up look. I also like the shoes they are wearing. Mark Mc Mahon, Brent Javier and the SM Men's Fashion models are mighty tight. I love their set.

Simple, easy to wear and pair up with your existing clothing. SM Men's Fashion really took it up a notch and made these outfits available to the Philippine market.

David Gandy for SM Men's Fashion

Monday, November 04, 2013

Supermodels have flocked the country but I've only seen women mostly who carry that title. Great things come and SM Men's Fashion just got us one by the name of David Gandy. He truly is a presence and just by seeing his photos from various shoots, this 6 foot 3, blue eyed muscular hunky guy from Essex has definitely got it all for a perfect guy template. If there's such a thing that is scruffy hot, he's probably one that will fill its definition. Then the next page will probably be me LOL

We sat down with him a few hours before the SM Men's Fashion show and yes he did answer some very tough questions from Philippine media. Overall, I believe he's the kind of guy who's still old school. A true gentleman never goes out of style. He still prefers holding doors for people, giving up his seat for those who need it or taking off his coat for a lady on a cold night. It's the type where you would want to keep it simple no matter how advanced we already are in this day and age.

He has definitely achieved a lot. Being the spokesperson and image model for well known brands but the most noted one that got him into Times Square in the US was for Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue plus a second campaign for the fragrance with Polish model Anna Jagodzinska. He bagged a third one and we're almost sure he's going to have more in the coming years.

He's also walked and shot with numerous brands and designers but owes it all to but a stroke of luck. He used to deliver Porsches, Jaguars to tracks for testing when his flatmate entered him into a modeling contest without his consent. He eventually won it and it involved him a contract with Select Model Management in London. Countless editorials, campaigns and shoots later on he got connected with SM Men's Fashion and found its grasp on the Asian market. He knew that they were expanding and he was seeing to have his brand and name to touch this part of the globe. It was a mutual thing to have wanted to work with each other. Now that's going to be a reality.

Now, you'll be seeing more of David Gandy not only on SM Men's Fashion show but also with more campaigns, photos, endorsements with the brand and will soon touch on a world stage. I can't wait to see more of this guy and what it'll become soon.
