Benjamin Alves Celebrates Birthday at Tahanang Walang Hagdanan

Sunday, March 30, 2014

We went to Tahanan Walang Hagdanan a few days ago to celebrate the birthday of Kapuso hunk Benjamin Alves. He arrived a bit teary eyed that afternoon. He was a little emotional as one of his dreams was coming true.

He personally chose this particular task that afternoon to celebrate with one of the most charming people we've ever met, those of who are all from Tahanang Walang Hagdanan. All along I thought this place was a refuge for persons with disabilities, but they are not even a charitable institution anymore. They took the pro active role of being a training center to stay as a catalyst in changing countless lives of PWD's countrywide! Once that a PWD goes through training with them, they become independent and better, productive citizens of this country.

The reason why he's crying earlier?

These guys. When Benjamin saw them going inside the gym earlier, it brought him to tears because he thought they were going to be a sad bunch. He was mistaken, as he found each and every one of them so happy despite of their condition. Persons with disabilities in this place have become empowered and they have worked hard to provide for their family or fend for themselves.

Benjamin Alves also gave them a treat by singing their favorite tunes to give thanks for supporting him all these years.

McJim Announces Newest Endorser Anton Del Rosario

Saturday, March 29, 2014

One of the most reputable brands of leather goods and accessories McJim finally came out and announced their latest endorser Mr. Anton Del Rosario of the Philippine Azkals. This American born Filipino football player has continually inspiring sports lovers and their fans to be the best they can be no matter what field or endeavor they choose. Having been able to play for the national team for years, he says it's but an honor to have been chosen to represent the brand. His good looks, great body and classy exterior  no matter what events I found him in makes him even KUMAGCOW approved. He's a little soft spoken but very well dressed. I guess that part is a no brainer for McJim.

Anton also tried out the products himself. He was expecting nothing spectacular since it's a local brand. Knowing how some unscrupulous manufacturers in the Philippines work he probably thought it was okay to expect less. The belts alone made him think otherwise. He couldn't believe how much care and attention to detail was put into each of these pieces. McJim presented him with stylish, great quality leather goods that is world class. It's something very surprising to have in the local market, good thing I already know that because I've been using McJim for years now.

The quality and design of their new products were also seen by my compatriots. It all looks so good from where I was. I still have my McJim bag, belt and wallet around my artillery. It still works no matter how formal or casual I need to be. They've got this guy Anton Del Rosario to prove more how the brand can encompass any age group and any style. Rugged, classy or athletic, you can count on McJim to get you whatever stylish leather accessory that is.

That is good vibes.

Alwyn Uytingco Stars in Dramedy Series "Beki Boxer"

Punching his ways into your homes and into your hearts with pink fabric, rainbows and glitters is this new program named Beki Boxer from TV5. It stars Alwin Uytingco as he plays the role of Rocky Ponciano a simple gay guy who wished to be a beauty queen but turned into full time boxer just to protect his Dad and family's name. It reflects on the the Filipino psyche of "Family First". It also delved into the LGBT view of sacrificing yourself for the ones you love, taking out the dreams of a guy who just wanted it all to come true.

Looks promising? Yeah! I think they will be gambling a lot in terms of having this program done on their channel but with the Directors of Zombadings and the other Kape Barako on their helm, this is going to be something that onlookers would really have to see. The dramedy promises that it will be funny as hell but as touching like a buckets of tears. When asked about possible conservative Church people probably finding this a bit offensive, they said that even the Pope says a lot what should be done when there are gender sensitive issues on the line, they're right on that part to say that the Church should accept anyone regardless of their orientation.

The cast also includes Claire Hartell Ruiz, Vin Abrenica, Christian Vasquez, Onyok Velasco, Joross Gamboa, Cholo Barretto, Candy Pangilinan, Bekimon and tons more. The series will show on TV5 starting on March 31'st. We already watched the first one and judging from the looks of the press who were also there, they definitely liked it! This is a big break for Alwyn Uytingco and he's been very busy with this station. I guess it's the right time and the right project. Hope it does wonders for your career because you've been working hard I know.

An Afternoon with "Kambal Sirena's" Mike Tan and Louise Delos Reyes

We met with good looking Mike Tan and the gorgeous Louise de los Reyes a few days ago in a small restaurant in Quezon City. They're the most revered pair in GMA's latest fantaserye "Kambal Sirena" (Twin Mermaids) where Mike's character Jun is paired with Alona, one of Louise's character in the series.

Jun is a fisherman so it goes without saying that he'll be not to well off here but he's got one or more things that would make any mermaid and woman fall in love with him still. His eyes, looks, and almost perfect physique that he says he doesn't even workout made me realize some people are just blessed. Louise also mentioned that Mike is really professional. If he's in character, you won't make him lose focus on what he's doing. She speaks so highly of him even if he's a funny chap on set. I guess that goes without to say that Mike is definitely a good guy. No matter how much he probably is in stardom, he remains humble and really someone who you can get to talk to in so many levels.

He was found to have controversies a few weeks ago when he stated his stand about being compared with the other mermaid program from another channel. He was a little apologetic about it but I didn't think he had to. Sometimes, things like he said wouldn't be accepted by closed minds. It was after all an opinion. I laud him for that.

Louise de los Reyes had so many things going for her. I've heard so many good things about her from GMA artists I've interviewed before. Aljur Abrenica the last time said he's so impressed with Louise. Adds that when he saw her and her passion for the craft... that immediately just says working with her would be such a breeze.

I've also discovered that afternoon that Louise is so beautiful without that much make up on. I've only seen her in events where she was heavily made up, but this number was so nice on her no? That and an outfit to boot, she looks gorgeous. Plus, she's really nice when we asked about the project because she doesn't think that the great ratings doesn't just fall on her... she says it's the whole team behind it that makes it successful. Bloggers observed that the reason why GMA trusts her is because of the performance of her shows in the past. She did not disappoint them and she says she remains so thankful of it. Humble and sweet, she hopes all of their work translate into getting more support from the viewers.

The story is going to be more complicated as the days go by. Mike Tan as Jun and his other voice on the show will surely make you think if he's the right man (who knows?!) for Alona. He still knows her secrets, and if that's going to spell if a love story is in the works then stay tuned for more of "Kambal Sirena." Other stars on this show are Ryan Eigenmann, Tessie Tomas, Mickey Ferriols, Yuk Servo, Hershey Garcia, Angelika Dela Cruz, Rich Asuncion, Polo Ravales and anti hero extraordinaire Gladys Reyes.

Watch the show on GMA's Primetime slot every day as they make a splash in your homes every night!
