OpenSnap: A Great New Way To Share Your Food Adventures!

Friday, May 02, 2014

Asia's premier dining guide just expanded their portfolio by whipping up a new app which is now available for FREE in the App Store and Google Play Store which is aptly called OpenSnap. It's something new that concentrates on mostly food and food establishments so if you want to go out and dine with some of your friends and family, you won't have any problems choosing which place to go and what things to order because it's all there!

I love my timeline already. I initially had restaurants from around the world on it but as I progressed to add some of my friends and family, I'm already seeing some of my neighborhood restaurants which is so good! It'll be easier to see if they have something new on the menu and places to hang out.

Obviously, I'm seeing those that are near the Tomas Morato area too because I live within the vicinity. There are also a couple of coffee shops that I frequent in and I'm so excited to push some of my photos in the system. Remember, installing OpenSnap will get you connected to the OpenRice database which will get you hooked up to over a million restaurants in the Philippines.

OpenSnap even got my photos organized automatically by the app and set it by location. Whatever restaurant I indicate, it automatically goes there. isn't it convenient?! :) There might be some bugs to work on says the Brand Manager Ms. Heidie Agbayani Tan but rest assured they are all using the feedback to better resolve these issues. Just like any app, some are found while on transit but they've got a pretty good form that you can fill up via the app or web.

The app also gets you to share your food stories to top social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and China's Weibo. You can also log in and allow your usual credentials to log in on the app so it'll be easy to register your profile. If you wish, you can register a separate one just for the app. Isn't that great?! :) Oh and before I forget please follow me on the app by searching for the name indicated above. I'm sure he's good looking haha! Like my photos too so you'll have great fortune as you go along this thing we call life!

Install it on your phones now, because pretty soon this will be a hit and you'll thank me for it!

The Electrolux Housewarming Party

Thursday, May 01, 2014

I arrived a little late at the new Electrolux office in Bonifacio Global City a couple of days ago. Although from afar, I heard a familiar voice from one of my favorite DJ's on Philippine radio Delamar Arias - one of the hosts of my most favorite radio show in the entire world The Morning Rush on RX93.1. I've been wishing to see these guys for a long time but I haven't seen them together since the Bactidol campaign. Today, Delle was here to host a very special day for Electrolux and yes they have moved into a very nice and upscale office in the Fort. It was really nice for them to invite us over and take a look at their newest products including their endorsers too.

Ms. Janice Villanueva and Delle were preparing something on the kitchen when we got there. This is their open faced fish panini. I guess it's about the same process in cooking but it was made easier by making it with just a few steps. Mixing the onions, tomatoes, spices and other ingredients, lay them on top of the fish, put them on top of the panini and bake until brown. I think I've gotten the hang of this because I do cook. I think their dish was special though because they got to use the Electrolux oven and made it in minutes! Voila!

It's even healthier and really tasty, made with love by Ms. Janice Villanueva. It passed the standards of Delle, so that says a lot. It was during this time that I also saw Delle's cute as a button son Cooper who was sitting on the side. It was like a short family gathering really. This new Elextrolux office looked so homey despite of its urban flair.

Then I saw my favorite Chef in the world Chef Bruce Lim (Nigella Lawson comes a close second for obvious reasons LOL). I still distinctly remember meeting this guy for the first time during an Electrolux event last year and I've seen him a couple of times since. I've learned a lot and still enjoy to catch his show on the Asian Food Channel every now and then. It's so great that he's one of the personalities endorsing for the brand because he's got it all.

He also showed us around the kitchen and told us about this great refrigerator here. The thing is, he showed his romantic side hehe. He usually writes notes on the fridge door directly and says how he goes about using it everyday. A proud father, it's also the place where he posts his sons drawings. If it can make the wear and tear of kids and his busy cooking, I don't think anyone will have problems working with Electrolux appliances in your homes. He made us a fast and easy pasta dish using Pene, mushroom and cream. Ahhh.. I had seconds of course! Thanks Chef for a wonderful meal!

When a short raffle was held, they dropped the bowl and did the greatest thing that evening. They gave us each a brand new Microwave Oven! Woot! Thank you so much to the executives of Electrolux and CONGRATULATIONS on your new home at the Bonifacio Global City! Can't wait to see more of your events there as you launch new products in the coming years!

PS. I love your No Noise Blender. When can we see that in action soon? :)

Updates on WeChat Philippines

We had a chance to meet a couple of people from WeChat a few days ago. They were drawing their milestones and telling us a picture on how the application has been performing in the Philippines. Oliver Ye, Country Manager of WeChat Philippines says that since March of 2012 (Tencent Inc.), they have steadfastly been growing and got initially 100 Million registrations around the world, a feat faster performed than well known social networks.

They have also introduced the first hold to talk, shake and drift messaging feature that are was initially not found on other apps. Over 355 Million registered active users are now taking advantage of it and since April last year, they have been marketing this app in the Philippines starting with endorsements by Iya and Drew Arellano. Do you still remember their commercial? I know I do.

They are also bigger now in the country and have been able to garner and audience that's quite young. According to their data, they have people mostly from 15-24 age using it now. 81% of which are all under 34 years of age. In the Philippines, they have also seen something very big because we have the highest percentage of video usage among other countries. They have attributed this on our culture as we mostly use this medium to communicate with our loved ones. Being a country that has amassed millions of OFW's in the past few years, they were not surprised because they see this as an important way to connect with relatives or friends outside the Philippines.

They also taught us a few features of WeChat and got us to do it that afternoon. I already am a pro at this so when they did a small contest I won haha.

Finding me on WeChat is easy just add kumagcow on your contacts and I'll be there. If you have friends that you want to add and they are nearby, just click the + sign on the Chats section and choose Add Contacts. There is a feature called Friend Radar on that window and you'll see them all pop up. Just click on each friend and they'll be added to your contacts. Easy than manually typing right? :)

If you are lonely this Labor Day, don't worry. There's a People Nearby feature where you can see people around you and even show how far they are from where you are. It's easier to make friends, chat and even send photos/videos when you need it. You see the potential? There's a lot more where that came from. Download the WeChat app now on the App Store or Google Play Store. This is available for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Symbian and OS X devices. You can't be anti social in this day and age. Try it out! It won't hurt! :)

We love. We share. WeChat!

Samsung Launches World's First Curved UHD TV

I couldn't believe it. Samsung, the world's largest mobile phone and entertainment systems manufacturer just made shock and awe a byword on their products a few days ago as they launched the new Samsung Curve UHD TV. This is a year for entertainment as Chung Lyong Lee the President and Managing Director of Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation puts it. They will also come out of different TV's that will match every Filipinos want and need. In a bullish country such as ours, our taste becomes a little different every year and with the growth of this country comes the search for the best electronic device our purchasing power can afford. Impressed isn't really a word I'd like to use because that is too small for the things I saw that afternoon. They envision a full pledged Samsung home where the family would enjoy and use each and every product that they have released. See for yourself!

From crisp, "almost in the stadium" like sound quality, to sharp images that you can screenshot, record, zoom and save on the smart TV, to control anywhere by just a flick of a button, you can't match these new smart TV's by Samsung.

When we want it, we have to have it. Online content like any video on Youtube can be seen on these smart TV's which is exceptionally even better if you have HD content. Aside from that, there are various apps available that you an use if you plan to play and use it as display. If you love stuff from the Google Play store, this would probably be the best choice if you want a different feel if you've got a Samsung Phone. Bigger displays are always welcome right?
