Jessy Mendiola, Matteo Guidicelli for Line Premium Calls

 It was a nice afternoon to see some really cute things on the lobby of Makati Shangrila in Makati City. Brown the bear and Cony the rabbit were spreading fun as they were about to launch something big in the Philippines. It's time to get connected in a great way by using another service from Line, the number 1 messaging service app in the world! 

The event was hosted by Joyce Pring, popular MYX VJ and all around artist. Greg Kim, Senior Manager of LINE Corporation was happy to tell us that they are continuing to strenghten global leadership and they still remain #1 across 69 regions. He also adds "We'll keep making new features for the app. Selfie stickers, line camera, animation stickers, line deco to decorate your phone, find alumni (so you can find school mates), line weather, hidden chats, line news with inquirer and rappler, line webtoon (comics in web), line games and more." They want to be considered as an app which will be beyond smartphones. They are not going to limit themselves with just smartphone users, that's one of the reasons why they give services to non smartphone users too. They also are connecting to more offline partners soon. They will also now release Line Premium so you can call mobile phones and landlines at a very great rate and promises the cheapest compared to normal calls. 

Stephen Kang, Senior Manager for Business Development Division of Line Plus Corporation says you can use your existing numbers, and still make high quality calls. Calls cost are also going to be displayed on the screen so you know how much you are spending (even in pesos). They did various tests for quality control in Korea. They are number 1 in Japan now and being recommended by various magazines as shown in some of his slides. You can even try it out yourself by just sending the word LINE on the Official Line Philippines account and you'll instantly get 300 credits so you can make those premium calls now.

They even brought their Quality Assurance Testing Equipment into Philippine shores. It even has given us a first person point of view on how they do it real time after receiving a call on the test subject. Would you believe this thing costs around 200K dollars? That's how dedicated they are to make this premium service the best there is in the business. Now, how can you beat quality audio calls plus a cheaper rate? I don't know... but it looks like LINE is going to win this one.

Barbie Forteza Shares Her Time at Philippine Childrens Medical Center

We saw a very happy Barbie Forteza a few days ago when we visited the Philippine Childrens Medical Center in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. Together with GMA Arist Center, they put up a small program in order to provide entertainment to patients who have been staying in the hospital for quite a while now. I've seen some Cancer patients together with their parents and guardians sitting in front and Barbie giving back to them as this is her 4th year in doing this since she's very fond of the kids and this cause is very close to hear heart.

I always watch her show Half Sisters together with everyone at home. It's very stressful though especially when you see the cast always giving Barbie's character a hard time at work, school and at home. Sometimes, you just sit and wonder if it's even inhuman already. I still remember the things her half sister did throwing her into a ditch and when her Dad slapped her silly when she got home late. Fact is, it was always like that and Jean Garcia would just sit there to console her... since she is blind.

She's also very happy that she got to join Cinemalaya and you know what, she doesn't think much about getting an award for her performance there. She's already overjoyed just by being there in the film Mariquina (Marikina). It's a new world for her, it's not mainstream and it's really a different craft. It's fresh ideas and fresh concepts but very deep, and it's very fulfilling says Barbie. She doesn't want to be typecasted as the good girl, but in the film she's going to be very reasonable and fights when she needs to. She's also happy to hear about the news that Half Sisters will be extended because of its high ratings, rightfully so because the story is becoming really exciting. It was hard making it and this just feels completely rewarding. 

Her visit her inspires her too because even if life is hard for the kids, they still manage to get a smile. For some who don't, she'll try to entertain them that afternoon by having a party with them complete with clowns, cakes and giveaways. She wishes them good health in spite of being in the hospital and hopes they can get well and out of it soon. The Gear4 Espresso Wireless Bluetooth Speaker from Digital Walker

When this arrived in my doorstep, I couldn't believe my eyes. This is the Gear4 Espresso, it's a Bluetooth Wireless Speaker from our friends in Digital Walker, the premier gadget store in the Philippines. I have never ever used one before so I had to read the manual. Although, I think it works just like any Bluetooth speaker where you just had to pair it with your gadget and the audio would immediately come out of the Espresso cup. Design wise, it's got my vote because everybody else in Facebook was telling me how cute it was on photos. They just didn't know how much power it holds which I'll tell you about in a bit. 

The box contains only a few items, the Espresso Gear4 Bluetooth Speaker, the USB cable and the Quick Start Manual. I had to charge the speaker of course, so I just plugged it in one of my laptop's spare USB port and a red light turned on the Speaker. It's on the same line with the port (on its left) so you wouldn't really miss it. 

As I mentioned earlier, it was so cute! It looks so nice on top of my office table, but I usually take it around my house and even use it while in the shower. It even saves on the batteries of my phone because I don't have to use my iPhone's loudspeaker anymore. 

The one on the top left bares the construction of the speaker itself, because it was a little concave it made the speaker's output become more on the "base" side. I like it when it becomes powerful like that. Don't ever mistake this small wonder to sound inferior to other speakers because it really packs a punch. The one on the top right shows that the side of the speaker unit, it has a hook which can be pretty useful if you want to hang it out on walls, or even belts when you are outdoors. The one on the bottom left shows the mini USB port and the status light on it's left. It basically turns red when charging, it turns off when it's full, it blinks when it's trying to pair and turn solid blue when already paired. The one on the bottom right shows the bottom part of the speaker which has the power button. Press to turn ON, then press again to turn OFF. It's a no nonsense gadget that I absolutely love because it's simple, and doesn't have to be too complicated to work with other devices.

So I went ahead and connected this iPhone to the Espresso Gear4 Bluetooth Speaker. If you detect it on the devices, just choose and connect. You will also see that the light will turn solid blue on the speaker and see the Espresso link up on the iPhone's display. 

And you'll really see it glow!

After establishing the connection, I opened up Deezer Premium on my phone so I could stream my playlist. The speaker even at high volume did not disappoint. It was like having a party inside my room and I didn't have to have huge speakers at all. This small one was enough to enjoy mood music I wanted to have in that same day, in that same morning that I'm having my cup of Espresso. This Espresso Gear4 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker from Digital Walker is so good I'll probably have to get more for my love ones. As I said, don't let the size fool you... this one's really good.

Have You Seen Those 121 Tweets?!

Is it just me or are you also wondering about these tweets?

It seems that celebrities know what it's all about but when their fans ask, they don't even budge or give us any clue. 121 is a number that does have recall... I wonder if someone's building a restaurant with the same name.... or maybe a shopping mall or brand is selling everything at P121.00. Maybe it's a corporation's 121st anniversary, well I don't think there's any existing corporation that lasted that long right?

Well, I think there's something big brewing in the background. I think these guys will reveal something real soon. For now, why don't we join the bandwagon and post the same - and tell people that you know it even if you don't ha-ha! Maybe this has something to do with Dingdong and Marian's engagement and wedding date? Or perhaps the Batang Gilas games in Dubai? Well, it's all but a mystery to everyone and I wish these celebrities just spill the beans and tell us what this is! I'm going crazy thinking about it last night... I'm having LSS, I'm seeing numbers when I dream... Somebody tell me!
