One Pampering Day at Ellen's Aesthetic Centre

Ellen's in Timog Avenue corner Tomas Morato
It's been a while since I had a facial as I have issues of other people touching my skin. Believe it or not, this is my second facial... in my entire life. I usually just do it myself, at home and I think I do a pretty good job at it. Yes I am that vain. Thing is, I might not be completely getting it cleaned so I did the next best thing by visiting Ellen's in Timog Avenue corner Tomas Morato in Quezon City. Ms. Ellen was there and she got me immediately going up her skin center, laid on the beds and be made up by one of their experts. I was in for a nice facial. (Warning: Selfie Heavy!)

I always take care of my face and try to maintain a less oily T Zone since that's my problem. Gone were the times of puberty and I'm so glad I got over that phase of acne because of hormones during high school (which happened a few years ago). I also learned the art of taking care of my skin early on. How? One rule, moisturize, moisturize and moisturize. First thing they did there is the same thing, they put moisturizers first.

Then a short facial massage ensued distributing that same moisturizer on my face. It felt good already.

Then they got this steam machine directed to my face prolly to open my pores. That's when they started to take everything off my skin, I think they pricked small ones and got white heads excavated like EDSA. The lady assigned to me said I didn't have much on my face  (prolly because I do things like these at home) but I felt she did take a lot of it out of my skin. She also noticed that I might have to get some small warts coiterized but I begged off because they say the marks might last a week and I didn't wanna bear it. They looked at my skin closely and even gave me a mirror so they could point at it (I was clueless).

After the cleaning, I got moisturized again and they prepared to close my pores with something cold in the end.

They whipped out a Mint Tea mask on my skin which felt like small stings on those parts which they opened up on my face earlier. It felt cold too so it closed my pores after the procedure.

Then I spent about 10-15 minutes and almost dozed off with that mask on my face. She continued to put on dabs of cream and gently massaged it in again which made my face glow after that facial. It felt so clean afterwards and I was so glad Ms. Ellen Lising got me taken cared of in her facial care center. The attendants were surely trained and meticulous in what they were doing and must say I was totally satisfied with the work they've done on my face. I washed it before I slept and woke up super refreshed after having them do that. Totally worth the visit!

Thank you Ms. Ellen and to your very kind people who never hesitated to answer my questions while I was getting my facial! Super thanks!

Oh and I heard they just opened their new branches at Unit 201 Oceana Commercial Complex in Mc Arthur Highway, Balibago Angeles City (Phone Number (045-3223260/0917-8151630) and at 270 Unit 6 Samson Road, Caloocan City (Phone Number 09272987136) so call them if you want to set an appointment or if you want anything done (they've got a ton of services). Again, they are nice people so if you have time please drop by any of their establishments near you!

The Western Digital 2TB My Passport Pro Portable RAID Storage

Thursday, August 14, 2014

The Philippine market is saturated with hundreds of external drives. Many brands try to constitute themselves as the best there is in the market but I think the number one in terms of performance and quality as users have put them all there. We have different reasons but track record and longevity plus testimonials from previous buyers have solidified it. We'll take a look at one of their RAID drives that is specifically made for the Mac made by Western Digital  called the 2TB My Passport Pro. Let's do this shall we?

For those who don't know, prices actually differ on Mac machines if you want to have more storage; but for plain ones, you would only get 1TB and get solid state drives for faster performance. If you want more, you'll have to add a fortune again and that isn't a good option for most consumers.

A promising feature is this Thunderbolt cable which means data and power will all be done with one cable. It's built in on the drive which I'll show you in a bit. This feature actually sold me already because if you have power and data in one cable, that's technology working for you. It made me cringe about my existing 3TB external drive that has a different power and USB cable. I'm sure some of you do too.

Now, you have to remember that if it says it's "Designed for Mac" on the box, it means it won't work with anything else because most windows laptops won't have that Thunderbolt Cable I was referring to earlier as it doesn't even have a USB port.

Opening the box was a breeze. It has one outer cover and the box that contains the drive itself.

It also has some images on the box cover indicating that this is used for mobile use, built for that purpose.

Just pick up the tab on front and you'll see the drive itself. The material is plastic but built around the drive and meant to protect it too.

The WD My Passport Pro is one of the most "macho" and sleek looking external drives I've ever seen. Aesthetically it's gone overboard with its looks, matte black finish so you can easily grab the drive with one hand. The ventilation below is apt so it won't overheat on you. Once connected to the port, it automatically installs everything on Mac. Drives like these on Windows especially the Passport ones from WD have wizards you need to follow in order to install. For the Macbook Pro with Retina Display, it was only a cinch. In the eve of files or movies that are HD, the 2TB would be really easy to fill up especially if you already have tons of them on your hard drive or other media. Transferring is fast and efficient. It took a couple minutes having the HD copy of the Expendables 3 from my cousin's Mac so I think that says a lot about it. The thing physically has 2 1TB SSD drives inside hence the capacity. It's a cool cheaper alternative rather than getting it internally on the Mac which costs an arm and a leg if you dig the additional 1TB plus its weight.

You'll get the installation manual which basically just shows you to connect it.

If you're asking where the Thunderbolt cable is, it's actually wrapped around the drive through a groove made in the center. The port's end snaps onto a small notch connected on the cable's end that is embedded on the drive. Now there might be some that might fear the life of the drive would be the same as the cable, but I think it's sturdy enough and strong to actually be something to worry about. You'll probably break the drive first if that's what you're worried about.

Since it can be mirrored, you should use your RAID 0 drive to be mirrored by RAID 1 so it automatically saves your files and have an internal second backup if the first one fails. You don't have to pay for cloud services and they'll perform quite well on OS X or OS X Maverick like cold drives. There's a separate WD Drives Utilities App that you can install separately, free of charge from Western Digital's website. That's if you want to change anything on the drive's configuration. but by default you can say it's plug and play. If you also want to know, the drive is pretty quiet and doesn't bother and spinning involved. Of course it's SSD!

Price wise, it's one of the most affordable pieces of hardware to be seen in this category. I think they've made it with that in mind so you won't even have to battle with other manufacturers who have similar functions. You might want to take a look at Digital Walker and their partner stores if you want to check out these drives for your Mac. It's worth it for photographers, movie couch potatoes and just plain file hoarders at this price point. You should get one.

Kim Rodriguez, Jeric Gonzales, K-La Rivera, Anikka Camaya Gives Back To Heroes of Marikina

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Kim Rodriguez, Jeric Gonzales, Anikka Camaya and K-La Rivera
It was a nice afternoon and a couple of stars from GMA Artist Center celebrated their birthdays. What better way to spend it but by making sure our heroes from Marikina City gets covered. Kim Rodriguez, Jeric Gonzales, K-La Rivera and Anikka Camaya went all the way here to give needed supplies for the security and rescue personnel of one of the cleanest and greenest places in Metro Manila. We've seen that first hand yesterday.

To tell you honestly I haven't met them before, and this was somewhat an introduction. With a few questions, I was surprised that they are doing projects in GMA primetime, some of them even have crossed over and plan to make shows and an album later this year. It's pretty good they get exposed to charity work early on as I've seen what goodness comes out of it. I've seen the people so happy to meet artists from the Kapuso network too.

Introductions had to be done first, to get a little familiar with them and the rescuers and security teams of Marikina

Barangay Captain Bernard Bernardo says thank you to everyone who attended the event. He also thanked GMA Artist Center who facilitated and chose their community among others in the metro.
They also thanked them for choosing their organization.

The volunteers, the rescuers and security personnel of Sta. Elena Marikina also joined the part where they had to sing with the artists during the event.

Crushed Apple and Samsung in China: Mi 3 Xiaomi Android Phone Now Free on Smart Postpaid Plan 999

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

The very first time I saw this phone was when it was handled by a tech writer from Manila Bulletin. It did spark my interest at that time because it's the rumored phone that did beat giants like Apple and Samsung in China, one of the largest retail markets in the world. The Mi3 XIAOMI has now arrived in the Philippines and no less than SMART, the biggest network in the Philippines is offering it on a postpaid plan, surprisingly even free on their Smart Data Plan 999 packages which started August 8, 2014.

Now when I stated that this phone has beaten leaders in the industry, I wasn't even talking about the specifications yet but overall if you compare the power it packs within it's 5.67x2.90x0.32 inch body, it's price point is going to be unbelievable. You can't even fathom how they put in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, have Quad Core processing and an Android Jellybean OS in its heart. It's got all the features of most advanced Android handsets but doesn't hurt you much in the bank. Standby power also can last around 500 hours, talk time up to 25 hours and about 50 hours of music play. It's got 16 GB of storage and a non removable 3050 mAh Lithium Ion battery that can prolly survive a whole normal mobile dependent day. The stunning 5 inch IPS display won't also disappoint you on 1080p videos and its 441 ppi pixel density. The thing even has cloud service that can get you easily sync files on your laptop of needed. Now if that doesn't meet your needs at this price point, I don't know what will.

Come and pre-order one of the best Android Phones in the market here from Smart; that not only works well, but costs quite reasonable too. It's perfect for the Filipino market where we want bang for the buck phones these days.  I rest my case.
