The Trial

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

This is one of the most awaited movies this year. Why? John Lloyd Cruz, Richard Gomez, Gretchen Barretto is in it. Not to mention Chito Roño is directing it. Star Cinema has lined up blockbuster hits one after another and this is surely something that's not any different. The stars already knew before they did this film that the material is super good. Chito Roño says the casting is fresh even if the story is heavy. It's something unique and not usually seen in story lines elsewhere. He adds that everybody should wait for the trial scenes as that will be very draining, but you'll still want to see it.

"I gave the actors enough time to study the role. The key actors worked here event if we had a few stars. You will see the characters pain, dysfunctional and hard in some cases. You still see great performances in every scene because that's what I asked from them" says direk Chito Roño.

Jessy Mendiola says "I had more confidence here and if I'm ever going to work in another project I can really apply the Chito Roño experience. He knows what he is doing."

They went to an orphanage that also had some cases similar to John Llloyd's character. That's how we got him to study it. They've done a lot of court scenes but on this one they've talked to real deal lawyers and practitioners so it's not going to be a question if this is close to real life.

John Lloyd is really in character while in the set, you can feel he's already carrying a burden while he's portraying this role. If you don't see that in the film then that would be a failure in their part telling the story. You should watch it. There's a ton of reasons why people are talking about it already, it's complex but should be seen by a lot of people who at least would be interested in a family drama which Star Cinema has never done this way yet. It's showing now!

Sharing Should Be Stress Free with Electrolux!

Monday, October 20, 2014

Hi guys! It's that time once again to tell you about the Electrolux Save and Share Blog Series. It's part of a big campaign to teach Moms and their families out there to save money and time of which we know is very important. Here, we get to interview their awesome endorsers Cheska Garcia - Kramer, my favorite Chef Bruce Lim, the pretty Chef Rosebud Benitez and Mommy Mundo's Janice Villanueva so they can tell us their secrets about how to use your time effectively, save a ton on electricity, utilities when at home.

You see, I have a couple of relatives who have this habit of pooling their old clothes together and donating them to charity on a regular basis. Though I know a lot of organizations who would gladly find this useful, a couple of the items they had on hand were outgrown baby clothes. They got some pretty new ones because it was only used a few weeks since babies grew big over time, so they didn't know where to put it. I had the urge of asking Electrolux ambassadors Chef Rosebud Benitez and Cheska Diaz - Kramer about clothes segregation because they've probably done a lot. Here's what they have to say about it.

We asked Chef Rosebud and Cheska about their hardships in maintaining the process of donating organized. What are their challenges and do they see it as a great way to declutter?

Chef Rosebud says "I guess one thing that we have to think of when we donate clothes is if the clothes we'll be donating would be appropriate for other people to wear. For example, we shouldn't give away old gowns, trench coats, heavy sweaters just so we can remove them from our cabinets because obviously, they're not appropriate for other people to wear daily". I guess she's got a point there, we can't give away those fancy ones to the needy. Think about the people wearing it, keep it basic and functional so that when they do receive it they'll use it appropriately.

Cheska on the other hand pushes for the importance of knowing where your donation will go and implies the use of social media to at least get a glimpse of the situation. She says "At the time of social media where everybody is into it, you are able to see naman that there’s a list of people need. There are already the do’s and don’ts of donating. For a people who have lots of show clothes or party dresses what they do, because they know they can’t donate that, they have a garage sale. The money they make out of it they donate. They look for the proper avenue to donate that money. For those people who have emotional attachment to the things they give, I guess during calamity you are able to detach yourself from that emotional attachment to your things, right? And really look at what it can do to help out other people, that should be enough."

Then we asked them about segregating the clothes, Chef Rosebud simply said "It's important so that it'll be easier to give it to people we'll be donating to." Cheska reiterated "Just like what I said earlier, not everything in your closet can be donated. So for one, try to find out what are the things that are needed. Usually kasi, I’ve done kasi a lot of donations already even with my kids. So when I would set aside their clothes, I may sure they are not the costumes or the party clothes. Instead I make sure that it is what really needed, let’s say mga pantulog, blankets for babies because a lot of babies kasi usually, they only donate for children and adults. So what I would do is I would set aside one kit or like clothes for infants. Para to find out kasi usually they come up with things that could be donated. So know first know what they need and then from there, you can segregate what you can give from your closet. So number one thing is to be informed." With that alone, you can go a long way in making your sharing experience less toxic, easy and stress free.

If you want to know more about more ways and tips on saving and sharing, you may check out more of the Electrolux Save and Share Blog Series by visiting their Facebook page www.facebook.com/thelittlewhitebook or follow @ElectroluxPH on Twitter and Instagram. Thank you Chef Rosebud Benitez and Ms. Cheska Garcia - Kramer for sharing your views and I hope this would really get to help a lot of people.

Love,

Bacolod's Masskara Festival Day 2

Sunday, October 19, 2014

After an epic day 1 at Bacolod I was wishing to top it off with another great celebration in the city of smiles for Masskara 2014. We partied the night before (for Masskara Love Dance) til morning, and got up afternoon... then decided to rush to the front of Bacolod City Hall so I could catch a glimpse of the famous inter barangay parade that everyone was talking about. The moment I arrived there, the streets were already filled with people, there were a few cops here and there, but I had the notion that the parade was already done as the cabbie told me going there. I started just shooting randomly on the side streets because there were small Masskara trinkets which I found so cute.

Then from a distance, I could see a couple of balloons walking towards the city hall area, the crowd grew in a few minutes and when it cleared I saw these gigantic puppets they were holding which is part of another contest it seems. It was cute because they chose cartoon characters, it seemed that they all came to life!

Both Manga and some American cartoon series were all there! People were taking pictures and selfies while the contestants were asking for donations too. Then I saw one or two Masskarra dancers mixed with them, I didn't know the Barangay parade was just there! I smiled from ear to ear ^_^

The Masskara dancers from different Barangays really spent a few weeks practicing for this so it wasn't a surprise that they were very spirited with their street dances. The colors, the intricate details on their costumes and the props were all well thought of, you just felt how much work they put into that.

Lacson street was equally packed when we went there last night. There were two concerts going on in the same area but we wanted to experience #SmartMasskara like crazy so the best place to be is Spectrum's Masskara Invasion, located at Bob's Cafe along Lacson street - powered by the biggest network SMART of course!

It was grand, it was intimate, I totally LOVE the music! If my hunch was correct it was a mix of EDM, dance and pop music. Everybody had their share of fun, united under the midnight sun. Add to that the fun people we were with last night, plus the beautiful people of Bacolod, it was bound to be another #SmartMasskara experience we will never forget!

I super duper LOVE also that I could update real time on Instagram because of the FREE Internet that SMART has. Whether you are on postpaid or prepaid, you can text FREE to 9999 and take your smartphone social media experience to even greater heights! I would love to go back to my second home, let's see if we could get part 3 tonight! :)

Love from Bacolod,
Kumagcow 🐮
