Wingstop Opens New Branch in Glorietta 2!

Saturday, April 18, 2015

It was a fun night, one of the best restaurant launches that I have ever been to. The people were pretty (tons of celebrities and models!), the booze, the soda, the wings were overflowing and it was because of one good thing, WINGSTOP has put up another branch in Glorietta 2. Now, people based in Makati has so many things to look forward to. They're hooking you up with the best wings in town, each very unique, super good in 9 different flavors!

They had stations in the venue, each having perfectly cooked crispy fried chicken, the flavors were permeating through the crowd, one or the other having that distinct aroma, loving each wing part that I had to sink my teeth in together with my friends and other bloggers during the launch.

It was like a circus. Each Wingstop wing guy had their own flavor bowl tossed, swirled, and put into these paper containers. It was still hot, I could tell they pretty much got individual wing covered with the special sauces and spices. My mouth was already watering because I could see some of them being eaten by the early birds. I did the next smart thing and prepared my self for an all out wing party! This is it!

I had ice cold Coke in one part of the table, then had them prepare the wings in all flavors like Hickory Smoked Barbecue, Hot Buffalo, Mild Buffalo, Garlic Parmesan, Cajun, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper (my favorite), Louisiana Rub and the super hot one called Atomic. They were not joking about the fact that it is hot, I had two and I almost gulped two cans of coke because of that. It was amazing because it's like a gustatory adventure on its own. I super like how they got me into Wingstop Chicken Wing Monster mode in no time. You could tell how I enjoyed it just by looking at the aftermath of my meal.

Wingstop has so much to offer for people who would like to have the best wings in town. Please visit their newest and biggest branch in the Philippines, they started regular business today and you better hurry or else I'll finish it!

Glaiza De Castro Releases Indie Album SYNTHESIS

Friday, April 17, 2015

With numerous projects on her belt, Glaiza De Castro told us last year that she's planning to have her independently produced album released. It was supposed to be seen last quarter of 2014 but it didn't happen, things got a little complicated and it got pushed a little later on, hence this conference.

We all love her, for reasons that she knows how to dream. She dreamed really big and wanted to take her song writing and singing a little further than what she expected. Her friends became her pillar, never even stopped supporting her through this journey. She's also become a bigger, better, and bolder person throughout these years. This constant change, the things she's experienced and the people who put in their special contributions made her realize that there was only one word that epitomizes all of these, this is SYNTHESIS. It was coined together with Benjamin Alves, a fellow actor in the Kapuso Network. Some of the words, she had contributors like her good friend Angelica Panganiban, voiced some of it with Alessandra De Rossi, then tons of musician friends, composers, arrangers too.

The packaging, the album cover and everything else inside the Indie album SYNTHESIS includes some bad @ss artwork from Chynna Ortaleza too. This is VERY personal for Glaiza, one that she opted to actually even painstakingly wait for. Aside from her friends, she also got so much help from brands that believed in her, specifically Lucky Hanna. She also got help from Dickies, Ellen's, Halo Halo Mall, Zeal, Earase, Ponx and Cresendo. Here's part of the interview we had with Glaiza!

By the way, Glaiza will also have a gig on April 22, this is part of the Earthday Jam which will happen in Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife. The event will start at 6PM so if you want to hear more of her music, please go there as admission is free! The CD is available in all major record bars nationwide, it's got 8 tracks and my personal favorite is "Pag-ikot" which to me showed her very personal side. These are her very own experiences, and there's more to hear when you buy SYNTHESIS, trust me on that!

Kapuso Kids Vincent Magbanua, Carl Acosta, Denzel Santiago and Chelsea Vera Celebrate Birthdays with Street Kids

We're in Marikina City today to celebrate the birthday of Kapuso Kids Vincent Magbanua, Carl Acosta, Denzel Santiago and Chelsea Vera. It was held in the Philippine Science Centrum which is just a stones throw away from Marikina River Park. This time, the kids will be celebrating their birthday with street kids from HE Cares Foundation which caters to less fortunate kids that live in the street, and have them in their shelter so they could get proper care and education.

The kids had sponsors like Jelly Sip from San Miguel Purefoods, Pandelton, Kambal Pandesal, Zagu, Nyogi and Aquabest so they can give them gifts later on before they go home.

The Philippine Science Centrum also has kid facilitators to explain the various displays they have inside. They wanted to have kids interact with the display and talked to them so they won't break things for the next ones who'll be there too. It's quite nice to see they also teach them not just science but be responsible kids in the process.

Denzel is still studying and prioritizing that for now, but he's done Magpakailanman last year which he's so proud of, Chelsea  on the other hand had got Tropang Pochi on her sleeve and is planning to have more workshops soon so she could get better at this. Vincent who's 15 is doing indie films and he says we should all look forward to see Childhaus soon. He also has been seen in Parikoy in his last gig. They're hopeful that these kids get inspired and achieve their dreams, still they are happy for them that in some way they got to spend time and give little things to street children. They're happy to see them enjoy the celebration, eat good food and have fun in the games GMA Artist Center prepared for them as well.

Carl Acosta arrived later in the day and said he's so happy to see them all and spent time with them during the museum tour. He's already appeared in Magpakailanman and Show Me The Money too.

It starts with a little wish, these Kapuso stars would soon be big ones too. I hope GMA Artist Center would give them breaks, they're pretty good at it in spite of their age.

Happy birthday!

Live Blog: Tech Island 2.0 by PLDT SME Nation

We're in Ocean Park Subic today to witness PLDT SME Nation's Tech Island 2.0 together with IT professionals and tech media from all over the Philippines. Tech Island 2.0 is a meeting of minds called by the need to conquer transformation of business models, corporate expansion, improvement of business through adaption of technology.

Kat Luna Abelarde, the VP and head of PLDT's SME Group says "Technology is SME's greatest equalizer. PLDT will be a strong partner for growth, if you are thinking digital, think of PLDT."

"We build sustainable relationships with key business partners and have a nationwide campaign so we could turn technology into profit. We had a thought leader conference yesterday and got them to see various services that would make SME businesses competitive. We would like to share technological solutions so we could all go global. Transformational leadership in the digital era is emerging, leadership will be different in this day and age. Mastering the Digital Age means 44 Million active social media users and SME's should interact sufficiently to get their attention. We also need business continuity for brands in the Philippines. Everything is written in the wall, if you need digital, please think of PLDT. Tech Island 2.0 is ICT, catch your wave and bring your business to the next level. This is a trip to the future of business." says Amil Azurin PLDT's AVP and Head of SME Marketing, PLDT SME Nation.

SMART Communications Inc. was also there to offer SME's with SMARTBro plans with speeds up to 12/42 Mbps, also they have the SAMSUNG S6 EDGE available FREE at Plan 2500. PLDT also had some pretty good deals for catching the wave!

The PLDT SME Nation event had almost a thousand attendees and have partnered with Samsung, Microsoft and IBM. Some personalities from startups, FoodPanda and other tech corporations were there to talk about improving SME's and how they could do big things in the coming years.

IDC's Roger Ling who hails from Singapore says "Businesses will only survive with Mobility, Clouds, Big Data Analytics, social businesses and transformation. They also need to reduce costs so they could compete in the industry. IT spending is increasing as organizations realize how important it is. It is vital especially in ASEAN where we are 95% SME driven, and the demands are increasing in every organization."

CEO Mauro Coccieri talks about Food Panda and what they offer. He started with a selfie in front and marks this as an example. They are leaders in the industry and he says "In a country that's increasing internet usage such as the Philippines, if you're thinking about success online, you must have good product and service. The booming smartphone utilization and younger crowd means you must be investing in online platforms like targeted communications and still do good execution. Think about something new, but make a difference during execution. We partnered with PLDT, Smart and Sun and made it successful."

"There is always a better way. Education is important before you do any business. Our job as entrepreneurs is to find better ways. We work hard, it's what you do and what you have, it's a lonely job but you must focus, but there's alway a better product so we must always look for opportunities. Like if products are going the large scale, software is going to follow suit. You must have discipline in execution, even if you have scarcity. The phase of ASEAN is going to change in a few years, it can be local. The game has changed an this is one of the areas where the Philippines can excel. SME's can brand it and execute greatly." says Winston Namarillo who heads a few startup companies now in the Philippines.

"You can double the GDP of any company. IdeaSpace Foundation was made to build a better Philippine economy driven by technology, they fund them as well. If your idea includes passion, global competence with people and products, inclusiveness, sustainable and has scalable impact and integrity. We committed large capital to find the greatest science and technology ideas from the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Passion is not about talking, but getting your hands dirty and do the hard work." says Mr. Earl Valencia, VP for Innovations for SMART.

It was awesome in Tech Island 2.0. Had fun while learning a lot from inspiring people. Thank you for letting us ride the digital wave!
