Max Collins Celebrates Birthday with Kids in Makati

Friday, September 11, 2015

We celebrated the birthday of Max Collins last month at the YWCA Compound in Makati. She's been blessed with several shows on GMA including Innamorata, Illustrado, Kailan Ba Tama ang Mali and now add to that the new Sef Cadayona starrer Juan Tamad. This center houses a baptist community church and the Pastor with his wife are good friends of Max. You can say some of the communities are pretty depressed here so holding a small party with the kids would really make them happy, a thing that Max says is very close to her heart. This is also organized in part by Pink Women on Fire, an organization that helps underprivileged children.

After saying a prayer or two, they started playing several games and served food for the kids from West Rembo. Some of them live in shanties and places in Pasig River so you can tell this is much like a needed boost for them. They also learn a thing or two because it's like Sunday school in the center so they learn a lot about God and good manners through mediums like story telling and activities.

Thanks to Max Collins' sponsors Black Water, MET, Zagu, Aquabest and her BENCH Family for all the toys and goodies they gave the kids. She also thanks GMA Artist Center for organizing a simple but meaningful charity event for her. Even if she's a little sick, she told us how happy she is to have been able to at least spend a few hours with the kids. As long as they're happy, she's happy.

Make sure you watch her show Juan Tamad as she plays the role of Marie Guiguinto, who is Juan Tamad's love interest in the program. She's also with veteran actors Roi Vinzon, Marissa Sanchez, Gene Padilla, Melanie Marquez and RJ Padilla. Their guests include Jaclyn Jose, Rocco Nacino, Carlos Agassi, Caloy Alde, Alden Richards and a lot more so watch out for that. This is a production of GMA News and Public Affairs.

Happy birthday Max!

TENYA Opens Doors at Market! Market!

I super love the food at Tenya! It's simple, authentic, and it's the same kind of Tempura Tendon that you'll get if you're in Asakusa in Tokyo. When I heard they're opening another store in the Taguig BGC area I got so envious about the people there because they've got a total of 2 if you count the branch in Boniacio Stopover. Simply put, you're going to get these lovely bowls of rice and fresh, crispy batter covered shrimp wonders walking distance if you're in the busy office areas of BGC or the residential condominiums of Serendra. As a matter of fact, it's just a stones throw away from Serendra 1 and 2 and all you got to do is cross the street and you can get there without a hitch.

Tenya's executives promise that you'll get the same quality as what they have in Asakusa in Tokyo. The main branch is actually just a few meters away from the actual temple and it's the biggest Tempura and Tendon specialty restaurant in Japan. When the owners experienced this in the land of the rising sun, they immediately thought of bringing it to the Philippines complete with the same lovely food items in the Japanese menu. They always thought the Philippines would get a kick out of it because the staple is the same, we all love rice of course! Add to that the mouthwatering large shrimp pieces cooked perfectly with their proprietary machine that does it in two minutes! It still leaves the meat sweet, the outer shell crispy, and imagine how that works too with veggies, mushrooms and cheese! It's a good Philippine franchise right?

The store too is pretty big, and they've got very efficient servers on stand by. They would like to get you your bowl as soon as it comes out of the kitchen!
This is their Spicy Salmon Salad. It's simple, very filling and a bit spicy. It's not boring and you can have this shared with two ladies.

This is one of my favorites, the Isobe Cheese. It's cheese wrapped in seaweed then lightly fried in Tempura batter. It's next to my favorite cold soba noodles which is part of the All Star meal.

Karaage, it's light and crunchy chicken pieces whisked with lemon then dipped in creamy kewpie Japanese mayo.

All Star Tendon is a bowl with Tempura, veggie sticks, squid, salmon, green beans and mushrooms. They add in the Dontare sauce which makes it sweet and salty. Love this a lot!

To cap off the dinner, I had the Lite Citrus Popsicle which is available in 4 other flavors. You definitely should try them all!
Now you've got another reason to go to Market! Market! in BGC. They're right beside the JCO branch and just on the left side of the pedestrian lane. You wouldn't miss it. Make sure to also include your kids because they're set meals are adorable especially the bears, planes, trains, cars and ice cream in it. You'll know when you see the menu! You may visit them also at the 4 Level of Megamall right beside Dads, at the 2F Bonifacio Stopover and soon at the SM Southmall!

Jasmine Curtis Topbills My Fair Lady on TV5!

TV5's premier actress Jasmine Curtis was just a little shocked last week when Brian Poe Llamanzares suddenly appeared after the press conference of her latest show - the remake of Korea's My Fair Lady. Apparently, Brian had the hugest crush on Jasmine after seeing her on a billboard in Katipunan Avenue back when he was still studying in Ateneo De Manila University. Jasmine was actually also studying there but they didn't get the chance to meet as she was a few batches ahead of him. The cute son of Presidential hopeful Grace Poe said it was his chance to get to know the girl of his dreams and he didn't hesitate doing it uttering "It's now or never!" complete with a bouquet of about 2 dozen roses. He's an accomplished professional host, worked for several NGO's and his Mom's office. He's also ADMU's Mr. School of Management in 2010, putting a stamp on his good looks. He's hoping to get to know Jasmine's family first and of course, court her in the process. He hopes this starts something really good.

Here's what transpired during the presscon, watch it on HD:

In this show, Jasmine will be having 2 leading men in the persona of GMA 7's Luis Allandy and TV5's hunky actor Vin Abrenica. Vin mentions his small sulking has completely disappeared and says he's very glad about this great break. He also dispels rumors of conflicts with TV5's current golden boy Mark Neumann as he's treated like a brother says Vin. Vin will be working hard so TV5 won't be sorry they gave him this project, it might be challenging but he's going to do his job and promises not to disappoint them. Luis was loaned from GMA and says he's here to do the project and as Madame Wilma Galvante mentioned, they won't hesitate getting other actors from different stations if they'll make the program better. They need artists to fit the role and Luis is an example of that.

This is also the comeback of Marjorie Barretto on TV and says she's both excited and nervous because it's been a while since she's been here. She had a short moment during the event where she vented her disappointment about what is being said with the media and what her ex husband is doing in real life (says it's completely different stories). In fact, she really took time explaining that without going into details because they've both been given a gag order already - of which she's a little heated why the other party is trying to make efforts, trying to look good publicly.

My Fair Lady also stars the lovely Chanel Morales, Yayo Aguila, Joross Gamboa, Jenny Miller, Katrina Legaspi, DJ Durano and the one and only Eddie Gutierrez. My Fair Lady will show on September 14, that's this Monday on the happiest network in the country, TV5!
