Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez Alcasid in "REGINE... at the Theater"

Wednesday, October 07, 2015

Had the chance to attend the press conference of Regine Velasquez Alcasid earlier at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City. This time, Asia's Songbird is going to sing songs from theater. She's going to have a couple of songs from Broadway, from classic shows, from local hit theater productions and put them all into one place, the THEATER at Solaire Resort in Pasay City. The last time I heard her sing, she guested during the show of Glaiza De Castro in Music Museum. I couldn't believe she still sounds so perfect, powerful and unbelievably flawless during that evening. The lovely signature pitch, style is just about as lovely as the day we heard her sing, a thing that people would love to have more. She's bringing in a couple popular songs and also adding new ones as she feels her repertoire shouldn't just stick to the usual songs she sings in concerts in the past. She says that it'll be a different set of songs but people would still really love.

Here's an excerpt of the press conference earlier today:

Regine... At the Theater - The Theater at Solaire by kumagcow

It was hard to do this and put up the production costs, but finally, everything has just come into place. Regine admits to have had a phase where she had a hard time singing but now that her form is back, they're taking advantage of it and says people will have a good time when you watch the show. Ticket prices for SSVIP CENTER Php 6,360.00, SVIP CENTER Php 5,300.00, SVIP SIDES Php 5,300.00, VIP Php 4,240.00, PREMIUM CENTER Php 4,240.00, PREMIUM Php 4,240.00, PATRON CENTER Php 3,180.00, PATRON Php 2,650.00, BALCONY CENTER Php 2,120.00, BALCONY Php 2,120.00, REAR BALCONY Php 1,060.00, and REAR BALCONY CENTER Php 1,060.00. I think the excess is for tax, that's what they kinda thought on my table earlier.

Jonalyn Viray and Aicelle Santos will be her guests in the show but they'll be doing different days. She knows how good they both are and she's looking forward to how you'll be enjoying the show in a great venue, with good acoustics, in pure unadulterated Regine Velasquez Alcasid form. It will happen on November 6, 7, 20, 21 at 8PM.

Congratulations, this will definitely be successful!

The New Shakey's Mojito and Frozen Margarita

Tuesday, October 06, 2015

I'm sure you've got your favorites each time you go to a Shakey's branch near you. I personally love their Fried Chicken, Pizza and tons of freshly cooked Mojos dipped in ranch sauce. I also love the usual drinks on the menu but they're continually jazzing it up with new ones like these two.

This first one is shot from outside the glass and is their classic mojito. White Rum, Soda Water, lime, cucumber and mint leaves bruised on the shaker, spun a couple of times with ice cubes and voila! Although, I would love it even better if you just ask your friendly bartender over at Shakey's and get that lovely concoction in just a few minutes. Have it with pizza, fried chicken, pasta or mojo's... no one is going to stop you. It's that easy.

I thought I was already done with one drink at Bonifacio Stopover but they just handed me this lovely mug filled with frozen Margarita. It's sweet and tangy, with a short hit of Tequila so you still get that wonderful kick after a glass or two. If you're amongst friends or close family, a few of these and your unending stories would probably be a good combination. You don't need to go to fancy shmancy restaurants to get what you deserve after a hard day's work, if you ought to relax, take it easy and have good food at Shakey's!

Shoutout to the ladies and gents on my table that evening, Earth, Ruth, Rodel, Chessika too!

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and order a few, let's all say cheers!

Claudine Barretto For "Etiquette for Mistresses"

Monday, October 05, 2015

The first day of box office might have just gauged it's success as it earned 15 Million. I took the time to watch it alone the other day because I figured I might actually be writing about it illegibly if I just wrote about it and didn't even get to see it on theaters. It was a bit full, so I chose the next screening in the evening that had about a couple or more seats in the center still vacant. I read the book but I remembered Claudine Barretto said that it wasn't strictly going to follow the story. I guess they just made the rules in the book and applied it on the film. I don't want to spoil things, but in my books, it's Claudine's character Chloe that has the most interesting background and story in this project. We talked about it during the short interview we had in the Star Cinema offices last week.

Here are excerpts of it:

I'm very SORRY to have been a little out of my mind asking non sensical questions, I was really nervous and forgot everything while I was talking. I didn't even get to take photos of her after the event. It's my first time meeting her and it was like meeting Gretchen, I was like that nervous! LOL!

Congrats to Etiquette for Mistresses, to Ms. Kris Aquino, Iza Calzado, Cutie Kimmy kimmy Kim Chiu and Cheena Crab. Hope you continue to promote this and have more block screening for the fans. People need to see this even abroad Star Cinema! I'd give it an 8/10.

It's My City: Quezon City on it's Diamond Jubilee

I've lived in this city my whole life. A dream actually sparked its inception when Manuel L. Quezon thought of putting all the government agencies, several residential and housing projects in one place. This is Quezon City - and we're celebrating it's 75th year with a grand Diamond Jubilee celebration. The local government kicked it off a few days ago in Quezon City Memorial Circle.

The New Manila house of the great former president now has an exact replica at the QCMC grounds and sits right across the Quezon City Hall. It's accessible via the underpass right in front of it. It's called the Quezon Heritage House and it'll serve as a museum to house memorabilia and tours from hereon.

Aside from these new structures, there will be several events in various places inside the city that you should watch out for. Tomorrow October 6 til October 9 is the start of Quezon City International Pink Festival which will happen in Gateway Mall Cinema 1. Today until the 11th, Novena masses will be done in the QC Hall lobby every 12 noon dedicated to QC's patron Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of La Naval Manila. The state of the city address with Mayor Herbert Bautista will be on October 12 at the Carlos Albert Hall in Quezon City Hall. On the 19th is the Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal Night where the city's most outstanding citizens will be awarded at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Diamond Jubilee Mardi Gras where you can see 500 costumed festival dancers from all over the Philippines in a parade right in Tomas Morato (I'll be there btw!). Plus the QC Grand Parade of Lights from 7PM to 11PM on the same day. The same parade of lights will take a different route on October 11 and will culminate un a QCROCKS@75 celebration in Quezon Memorial Circle where they'll put up a stage where Parokya ni Edgar, Rocksteddy, stand up comedians and various artists to end the night. We'll be posting live updates for that btw! So follow kumagcow on twitter, instagram, facebook and youtube!

We also did a photoshoot during the event last week and we can't wait to tell you more about my city! Are you guys excited?! I know I am! :)
