Ken Xin Da Releases Affordable, Shock, Weather and Water Proof Phones in the Philippines

Sunday, November 29, 2015

I must admit, I didn't know the brand Ken Xin Da before this event. They just actually launched a few days ago at posh Sofitel Manila and did it in a grand way. The stage was set and arranged to mimic Olympia, complete with Greek gods and goddesses holding what seems to be new mobile phones that I personally haven't seen before. They're set to conquer the Philippine market with an unbelievably low priced phones that are perfect for those who find function, fun and protection from the elements. What do I mean? Let's just say the literally put one of their phones underwater!

Here's what happened during the show!

Ken Xin Da Mobile Phone Launch
Posted by Kumagcow on Sunday, November 22, 2015

Aside from that, they've also got some small fancy phones that looks like cars. There's also one designed specifically for women, it's a flip phone that turns into a car too. I've seen some of the handsets only cost from a few hundred bucks, to just a little over 3 thousands pesos. Now imagine if this actually lands on stores. That only means there's no reason anymore to NOT actually own a smartphone. Best of all, they offer something really different at these price points and I'm very impressed about the Ken Xin Da.

This is the KENXINDA Flattop W3. It's a very cheap mobile phone which is part of their line called Proofings W3. It's dual sim, a little chunky, but it's still considered a small mini sized cell phone in this part of the world. It's a Waterproof Mobile Phone which means it can stand the elements. It's designed to withstand accidental falls, temperatures and even to the point of getting it submerged. Now imagine taking this to your mountain travels where it could experience bumps, coldness and moisture in the outdoors. It'll still survive that because as you can see on the photos above, they already put this phone on water and it still displays, it still works.

I tried it out for size and took out the content of the box. My first problem was just how to make this work. There should be a place to put in the simcard but I was thinking of a way to open it on the back by flipping things, but none of them seem to budge on the edges. I didn't read the manual because I thought it was easy, then I found this lot. It's got 1800 mAh for batteries so you can stay here if you need to.

See that thing in the middle? It's a small screw driver that fits perfectly on the slots on the back of the phone. Apparently the phone is sealed shut so the only way you can whisk the back away from the phone is to unscrew it first. It's convenient though after that because it's double sim. It runs on Android even when it felt like Java when I operated it the first time. This is a 2G phone so you only get the practical parts of the smartphone. It doesn't have wifi so you might want to consider that in your purchase. The back camera is 3 Megapixels, it also autofocuses, has Bluetooth connection, a built in flash, Dual Sim ports, ability to Email, has an FM Radio and GPS. It also has a loudspeaker which you can use when you need to talk. It also comes with a charger and earplugs.

Screw it back in and you're good to go. Now remember, you only got a 176 x 220 screen but it's basically enough to see on mobile handsets. However, like the other Ken Xin Da handsets, it does the job. There's also a couple more things on the phone which I still find basic, a thing that non smartphone users would appreciate if they are using this as an "entry level phone" of some sort and take it to mountaineering trips or just plain sports events that require a tough phone that can withstand drops, bumps, and still work. Or maybe they would be fine having  powerbanks too when the need arise.

Speaking of which, they've got the Ken Xin Da Power Bank. Just like the phone above, this one has got the same waterproof concept implemented. Imagine when it rains, when you need to walk to the sea or just plain jumping into the pool. I remember a friend who pushed me into a pool once, he didn't only get my phone wet, he also kinda almost had me worried. I don't know how to swim LOL! So if this one is a good option for the powerbanks that are still in the market, this one's totally different since it's got that ability.

Congratulations to this new player in the market. You will definitely shake the mobile phone market with your low price points and specs. I even think I saw a 300 peso phone somewhere during the launch, but you would have to see it yourself by sending inquiries on the channels below. Congratulations Ken Xin Da!

Aljur Abrenica, Mark Herras and Janine Gutierrez for Dangwa

Saturday, November 28, 2015

Don't you just feel life is unfair when you see too many good looking people in one shot? I know, I've felt that a thousand times. This however happened during the Dangwa Blogcon a few days ago in Quezon City. I missed Aljur Abrenica on TV and he seem to be okay now, we all know that brouhaha that happened in the past. He's totally into his game now and doing this with Janine and Mark was a welcome thing. He's worked so hard and is continually doing so. The format of Dangwa is different, it's like there are several stories inside their own story. Rosa played by Janine Gutierrez is like a fallen angel/cupid that needs to stitch relationships together so she could go back to her true form. Mark and Aljur play Baste and Renz respectively and they're going to be Rosa's suitors in the show. Renz is a very cool and reserved guy, somewhat alta, so he's the one who gave intentions to court Rosa in the show. Baste on the other hand is the childhood best friend who didn't muster enough courage to court Rosa until he saw what Renz was doing, he felt jealous afterwards.

Here's our interview with Mark Herras during the blogcon:

Mark Herras for Dangwa

I've always regarded Mark as one of the greatest artists produced by GMA. His affinity with the dancing has made him worthy to carry the title Ultimate Badboy of the Dance Floor, something that others won't be able to get years from now. He's also super nice, very humble and straightforward in answering questions. Aside from his sculptured physique, he's one heck of a good looking guy. He's also a proud father and says if ever he's going to have someone in his life, loving his kid too is non negotiable. He's actually still dating, hopeful that if he meets the one it'll be something that he'll cherish for the rest of his life. He deserves to be happy.

Meanwhile, Aljur and Janine suddenly arrived after our interview with Mark Herras, here's a video of our conversation with the Dangwa stars:

Janine Gutierrez also admitted that she's looking forward to work with Elmo. We didn't know at that time that he was already in ABSCBN and didn't get to ask her about it. Apparently it was all a secret. Anyway, they're planning to have Alden and Maine be on the show sometime next year and the director says there's an effort for them to guest on the show. There will be more small stories in between the story of Baste, Renz and Rosa that you should watch out for. They hope you get to watch the episodes this month and when the year ends. It's going to be great, exciting, and surprising because you can only expect great guests on the show real soon.

Here's some shots we got from the blogcon last Saturday:

Oh by the way, if you've loved the theme for Dangwa and plan to sing that song, record it and share it on their page here to get featured on their social media accounts! Thank you so much to Janine, Aljur and Mark!

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser : Best Hardware for its Price

This is the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and trying out its features. I must say, I have pretty high standards when it comes to Android phones because I'm an iOS fan (weird but let me make a point). I abhor things that are not easy to use. In the real world, the people who are probably using these phones want something that works. Add to that an excellent camera, a worthy processor that doesn't lag when playing games, or editing photos and videos, plus a lot of other apps that need memory + resources and still perform at par even if it's at a low price point. If my information is correct, this is actually ASUS' most sought after phone in the Philippines because it's priced attractively, gives gaming and apps the needed sources to smoothly function and honestly, it's one of the best looking phones I've ever encountered that's on Android OS.

The box contains the charger, the headphones, the Warranty Card and User Guide. They also use a certain technology on the cable and charger making it doubly safe to use it and charge fast, and efficiently. It protects your device from damages spurred from power surges, isn't that neat?

The face of the phone looks absolutely stunning. It shines naturally and has got a concentric finish on the metal frame. The 5 inch screen supports HD at 1280x720. The screen is also made with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which I've seen tested by chopping vegetables on top of it. It also is known to be twice tougher in drop tests compared to other glass covers so you're practically getting protection from it too.

It's obviously has been designed well, all confirmed by several international and local design awards that make this a worthy phone to carry around. Oh yes it matters, because if you aren't confident about what you wear, at least you're getting attention with it.

You see something beside the 8 Megapixel cam? The one on the left is the flash, while the other one is the laser which makes your camera perform and sense distance, making your camera to focus almost twice faster than an iPhone. Isn't that a thing of beauty?

That strip on the back is actually a switch for volume control. I think this placement is genius as you can still reach it safely, not on the sides where almost every other phone company uses it. No more accidental pressing when you've got it on your hand.

And again, the metal finish on this phone just speaks how much care they put in on the design. Aside from this good looking Sheer Gold, they've got other colors like Black, Ceramic White, Silver, Purple, Aqua Blue and Glamour Red. It's lighter than my iPhone even if it's practically bigger than it. It's cover can be also swapped with different colors so if you've got a friend who also has one, just take it off and put theirs on. I did that during the event we did in Intramuros when a photo walk was hosted by ASUS. I loved the Red too!

Check out our Instagram posts during the One Day of Zen event held in Manila. It made me miss street photography even more!

Normal photos, landscapes, black and white, photos with depth of field, or just plain selfies are so easy with the ZenFone Laser. It also focuses faster than other phones in the market, making each shot very easy to manage when you're in a photowalk just like me.

Also, you've got to have the ZenPower. It's one of the few power banks that does its job. I've never seen a ZenPower power bank die on anyone that has it. If it works as advertised and it doesn't give you problems charging, isn't that a good thing? Exactly, because I've got other power banks here that is larger and promised me hours of charging and it didn't even work the next day.

I love the Zenphone Laser and this product by ASUS is the choice of most bloggers I know. They don't even carry around those big DSLR's anymore because the photos and videos from this phone works out of the box. If it impressed them and made a ton of ZenFone Laser users in the Philippines say this phone is "worth it!" then you've got to have one today! Hurry and get it on a discounted price at http://store.asus.com/ph.
