Meet Elyson, Ayra, Klea and Migo: The Starstruck Season 6 Winners

Monday, February 08, 2016

I've been a fan of the show for quite a while now and hearing that they'd be back on  TV last year was but a welcome thing for me. I've met quite a number of stars from the show and have been able to maintain good friendships with the likes of Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, Rocco Nacino, Kris Bernal, Enzo Pineda and others who have been so good to us bloggers ever since. I wasn't able to catch much of Season 6 but knowing it is for a good 5 years since it went back on air, I'd really love to get to know the winners more since we've seen them during the blogcon. I've actually got my bets here which was a good thing and I'd like to know what they have in mind now that they've won the show.

Elyson De Dios Starstruck Season 6 First Prince

Talking to Elyson was a little discomforting. I could feel he did have some small disappointments about not getting the Ultimate Survivor post in Starstruck. I guess he was very driven, wanting to be the one to win the show and he had his hopes up. He was already there, and thought since he was already doing good in the last few challenges, there would be a big chance that he'd win. I can't blame him really, but his face kinda lit up when we told him that there are actually more Starstruck runner ups that made successful careers. He's hoping that would happen and he's actually happy to have been able to star in a show which will be on their home station real soon.

Here's our interview with Elyson during the event:

Ayra Mariano Starstruck Season 6 First Princess

I voted for Ayra Mariano during the bloggers conference and also voted for her for the show (I watched the finale). I find her very nice to talk to, and very approachable. I was thinking she'd win this thing but of course fate has a different plan for her. That was also in her mind why she placed First Princess in Starstruck Season 6. She was supposed to also appear in a show but GMA Artist Center probably figured it would have been best to see her with her co-winners in the show so people would be familiarized with her, their love team and the starstruck co-stars. She already appeared in commercials in the past and it looks like she's getting the attention she wants now. I'm pretty sure she's made for the business as I find her very pretty. Here's a short video of our interview with Ayra.

Klea Pineda Ultimate Starstruck Season 6 Female Survivor

She's a stunner, tall, statuesque and very much a beauty queen in the making. She's blessed though because even before she thought about joining pageants, she's the rightful winner with the title Starstruck Season 6 Ultimate Female Survivor. This is the start of the grueling task of letting her natural star shine, in acting, dancing, even singing, they've got to be triple threat these days to even survive. She's happy because she's going to be a part of Encantadia, one of GMA's pet project that involves magic, folklore and is one of the country's premier fantasy series. If it happens again, then she's going to have to fill the shoes of great actresses, she feels so ready for it. Aside from that, she hopes to actually take the footsteps of Megan Young or Pia Wurtzbach, something she's planning to do very soon. With the pairing with Migo, she's planning to work really hard to get the chemistry going. She's not going to force it since everyone knows Migo has a girlfriend. I'm hopeful she still has time for beauty queen training so she could achieve her dreams.  Here's a bit of our interview with Klea.

Migo Adecer Ultimate Starstruck Season 6 Male Survivor

Migo was actually one of the few who impressed me during the blogcon which happened a few weeks before their finale. He can sing, he can dance legibly, plus he's a really good looking guy. He's the Ultimate Starstruck Season 6 Male Survivor and he's going to have to do the legwork in making himself known in show business. He's also going to be in several shows on GMA and if possible, he'd like to make his singing a priority. He plans to work it out with GMA Artist Center and GMA Records if there's a chance soon. I'm glad to have known a very humble guy won Starstruck this season. I hope his star shines, just like his predecessors in the show. I could see him doing several commercials as well. Here's a small interview with Migo.

We had this small chat in a nail spa in Tomas Morato. It was relaxing, but I was really happy to have been able to talk to these guys and gals on a more personal way. They're just normal people like us, a little more talented perhaps but still very nice. They have dreams just like you, they're doing something about it and I hope they inspire not just their fans, but more Filipinos. I hope you get to know them too just like how we did. They're willing to work for it and hope you see their efforts when you watch GMA shows.  I hope to get to talk to them again soon. They're all winners in my books!

Thanks to GMA Artist Center for having us and for hosting this event!

ROYALS Finale Press Conference

It's the second year since Mang Jerry left us, so during The Royals press conference Martin dedicated this day for him and Regine's family. Aside from that, they also announced that tickets to the show have been sold out, now that's good news for the production.

Erik Santos says "I am more than excited because I've seen the lineup. I'm also trying not to drink coffee as I'm a bit acidic, it's hard to maintain my voice if that happens. I don't know, I will be forever a fan of Martin. In the past, I used to watch their concerts and buy their albums. I get them as special guests in the past and now we're in one stage so it's overwhelming and as much as possible I need to keep up with them in live performances." Erik also commented on Ruffa Mae's "I am more than willing to sing in their wedding, we're still friends and I can tell her. I just knew of it two days ago, I had to ask her cousin about it and her cousin confirmed that they are engaged. Honestly, I am very happy for her knowing that. She deserves that. I am also ready to have one, I might even have a ring already (he jokes). Too early to say."

Angeline Quinto says "This is the first time that I have had a show where I am excited to sing for people and my family. To see Erik, Ms. Regine and Martin in one show is already enough, to be with them is a dream. I am trying my best to be at par with them, but I'll try my best" then she laughs it off. She added "I haven't really watched concerts in the past because I couldn't afford the tickets, but now I'm performing on stage with them. I'm really excited! I am looking forward for this dream, Ms. Regine is my idol and when people watch this, I want them to feel inspired because I have achieved something like this. I feel so happy to be able to do that. I can't believe this is happening. I really don't want to hear that I have to beat Regine in this concert, because I am just thankful for this. I also am relieved that she's not like other singers that don't want me in production numbers, I know of one guy but I won't name him. I have not mistaken to have idolized Sir Martin and Ms Regine."

"I also met Ruffa Mae, even had a picture and I believe she was sincere. But we haven't met again after that, I feel that she's very sincere, a very good person. We thought we were relatives but when I asked about where they came from, we were from different provinces."

Birthday boy Martin Nievera says "These two have a big big future together, even if they are not a love team they'll watch them because of sheer talent. That's pressure for us, we have a different goal, for these guys to be satisfied and we'll try to do our best too during rehearsals. We had to turn down songs because we have different ideas. We might need to do a 4 hour concert and Cacai doesn't want that. Regine was very quiet before and if she goes on stage, it's like someone else possessed her. I don't know if the young ones will sabotage us, you should watch that in the show. I'm on my 34th year in the business, I don't know whatever made me the concert king, but it's a benchmark and milestone, it's a compliment but it's a reminder to keep up the game in these concerts. I'm so blessed to still have projects, it's the people around me not just myself, to be in their midst, I claim every blessing and I try very hard not to take it very seriously.

I'm happy so far that I have a song to sing, I am thankful. It's not just singing, these things catch up to you also but you won't have that same glitter, same position when you first started, it's a reality. I have been very vocal about getting better in the business and we should be telling our space in television so we could grow. I can do shows, talk shows, but it's getting to that point, when I get that offer, it's so much more fulfilling now the little that I get and few lines I get to sing in ASAP, it shouldn't be the case when you're a concert king, it's tough to be in the middle, there are no real friends in the business and don't complain. At the end of the day you should be more positive and that's very hard as you get older in the business. I want to be seen as the one who is doing his job, I'll sing in karaoke if I don't have a show because that's what I love. I'll be in the I LOVE OPM starting Saturday after MMK where foreigners will be singing Filipino songs and I hope you support that. Erik can easily beat me, even his speaking voice, he can sing in circles, he can emote and bring the message across, he's swooning and we talked about it. He's now making his whispers louder, I want him to shine too."

Regine quipped "Martin and I am excited, always because I'm going to be on stage and singing for my audience again. While we're doing this, in 30 years of doing this, it's always hard and there's always pressure because this is exhausting. But knowing that they are all here, I'm confident because we have the whole team here. I can point fingers if we don't do that well. I don't like performing alone even in solo concerts. I am extremely excited about this concert. The new show I'm doing is a comedy soap, there will always be drama there and I'm going to be a rich senorita that will become poor, that's the premise. Maybe if there are offers, I'd like it to be OPM musicals, if there would be something that fit me I'd wait for that project. I'm not that comfortable in Broadway style, I'm more comfortable in Filipino musicals so one of these days I'd try to see if there are good stories and songs that we can do soon. This is purely pop and classic love songs in ROYALS, they  would be appreciated by a lot of people and we'll also be bringing this to Cebu. Younger singers are very good, and more. I can feel that they're a little shy, but on Saturday I think they can do well. That might be a surprise. (They're talking about Angeline and Erik) I used to feel that way before.

These two will be giving their best! You know it's more real for me nowadays because it makes it more difficult to sing, like Erik, I have acid reflux. Sometimes it's not stretchable than compared to when I was younger. That's one of the things I tell them, just keep singing even if you can't imagine you can do. It gets harder, to be more energetic and realistic, if I can be able to do this, but I hope I do. It's not the same anymore, unlike before when I just open my mouth I can do it. I need to watch my food, sleep on time, it's not like that anymore but I'm happy I'm still here. Just a little effort and I can do it. We'll have a duet, Angeline and I, a very simple number with Whitney Houston. Lounging with coffee and all. I like that she has that attitude that she's not "nananapaw" because she respects people who she sings with. I like that, but I hope she brings it on the show, people would expect that because we both need to shine. We also have one with Erik and Martin, a Yoyoy Villame medley (she jokes), hopefully Ogie could watch this."

This is going to be a great Saturday. Watch ROYALS if you have tickets already!

Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil for Dolce Amore

Sunday, February 07, 2016

Beaming with smiles, we got the chance to attend the grand press conference of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil starrer Dolce Amore. Sweet love? That happens in a lot of places, different times, different situations. It doesn't matter if you're rich, a princes, or a deadbeat hooker on the street living from what small things they get every night. It encompasses stature, it doesn't look at your resume, they don't even ask for your diploma or GPA when that happens. It just does its thing.

Ms. Cherie Gil was actually on a vacay when she got a call to portray this role. She's going to be the strict mother, rather than a villain in this show. She does actually speak Italian too but does admit she gets a little help from the Italian guy included in the cast. He corrects them all when they need to in the grammar department. It's one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world, that's why Liza also underwent training for that too.

Also in the show is Andrew E. and Sunshine Cruz. They'll also be joined by Kean Cipriano, Bobot Mortiz and Ms. Rio Locsin. They'll be the parents, sibling, which you'll have to watch in the show because they haven't really gotten to know their characters yet because they only shot the trailer and the ones they had to do in Italy.

This might be a little challenging for Matteo, because he'll play the other guy. Yes, he's going to give Enrique Gil a challenge with Liza Soberano. It'll be a difficult one because his character has the same pedigree, and even lived with her through childhood. Will it be hard to break her parents wishes if they probably have an arranged marriage? How will that change their relationship? and will Liza's character be shocked when they're forced to marry for comfort and business? Or will the damsel in distress prefer Enrique instead?

Guam Upfront: The Best of Guam 2016

Saturday, February 06, 2016

We were at the #GUAMUPFRONT Media Day to see what Guam Visitors Board has been doing these past few days. I think they just recently participated in the PTAA event in SMX in Manila and represented their country quite beautifully. This isn't the first time they've been here and today they're talking about what the best Guam has to offer this 2016. Guam is a US Territory, you need to apply for a US Visa the regular way. It's near the Philippines and we've only got a two hour difference. There's also 30-35% of Filipinos there so you won't really get homesick at all. It's a multicultural place, Chamorros are locals and they're very proud of their culture.

"It's where America's day begin. We're opening a 27 Million dollar museum at the center of Guam together with the Pacific island games that's happening in the middle of the year. We're also promoting shopping and it's convenient to travel there in 3 1/2 hours through United, you can go to your hotel and swim by walking there. There's no traffic, we have a new campaign video launched in July telling how we're Guamazing!" says Nathan Denight the General Manager of Guam Visitors Bureau.

Guam has lots of things lined up this year, the tours such as Jungle Rules Adventure Tours, 12th Festival of the Pacific Arts in May which the olympics of culture and tradition in the pacific islands which happens only once every 4 years. Neighboring islands will converge there and showcase the reigion's artscape done in a few days courtesy of Guam Visitors Bureau.

Outrigger Resorts was also there. They got us a personal invitation to any of their 54 properties. The one in Guam Outriggger Premier Resort is in Tumon Bay. They've got the whole shopping district, shops in the actual groud floor plus the beach at the back. They are hospitality and local culture, and have about 600 rooms. They have signature restaurants that serve local and international cuisine. They also have live local bands playing nightly plus Ohana Beach Club on the beach side when you need to. You can have receptions, weddings, take care of the kids, plus spectacular sunsets in Outrigger Guam Beach Resort. We saw photos and videos, it looked so good from I was sitting.

Pacific Star Resorts shared some photos and had us drool about a lot of things that even the local Chamorros don't know about. When after all that, it was just right in front of their doorstep.

United Airlines also flies there 13 times a week. If you're up to it, you can get that visa and book on these hotels, fly out the weekend and come back the next week. It's comfy with United.

I wish I could go there, someday I will.
