SMART Asks You: Team Batman or Superman?

Sunday, February 21, 2016

I kinda answered this question quickly because even in my Twitter and Instagram bio, I've always called myself Batman no matter how crazy that sounds. I know some of you would choose the man of steel, but in my books he's as real as what real men should be. He's not an alien, he does charity, he's also romantic, but emotional as he seems, he's a tough cookie. Superman has super human strength, can fly, can dodge a bullet and is superfast he's been blowing the speed of light ever since he got born in Smallville. He's also more human than most people, and has saved countless lives just like Batman. This year, the most awaited film from Warner Brothers has partnered with the country's biggest network, Smart, and they're asking you to choose sides!

Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice is showing on theaters very soon. With this, Smart is bringing out their best offers like this super sized video experience with Big Bytes 50. Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz for Always Be My Maybe

It's another romantic comedy film this time from Star Cinema, with a different combination as this is the first pairing of Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz. It's a story of two people who gave up on love and later finding out they actually might be the ones falling in love too.

Jake played by Gerald Anderson just got dumped by his girlfriend of 6 years. He proposed and got rejected, something that really hurt him the most. Tin-tin on the other hand (played by Arci Muñoz) just got off a no strings attached, no label relationship. She found out later on that he got back with his greatest love, one that she couldn't imagine happening. It did hurt her, a lot in fact, she couldn't even function normally. That's where they agreed to move on together, hopefully with a make believe relationship, but what if they suddenly fall in love?

The cast also includes Nikki Valdez, Carlo Aquino, TJ Trinidad, Kakai Bautista, Matt Evans, Jane Oineza and Mr. Tirso Cruz III. This is also directed by Dan Villegas who did blockbuster movies "Walang Forever", English Only Please and The Breakup Playlist among others. This is showing on February 24, 2016 and is under Star Cinema.

The MacPower x Pioneer Insurance Event

Saturday, February 20, 2016

We're no stranger to Pioneer and how they have developed affordable insurance services in the country. They have several branches in Metro Manila but quite a few know that they're actually easy to see online too. They've launched a couple of months ago the Pioneer Insure Shop at https://shop.pioneer.com.ph/ and I was lucky enough to experience getting covered there for an out of town adventure, much more apt for those who are into outdoor sports or extreme sports as they call it. Now it's easy to get everything with a few clicks if you need Travel and Health insurance.

Here's some snippets from the event:

Oh and if you're going to Europe soon, you might want to get their Travel Light package which costs very low than industry standards, and even go the mile helping you with Weather Reports, Health Precautions, Immunizations, Required Visas, Interpreter Referral, Lost Baggage, Lost Passport Assistance, Embassy and Consular Information. That's already an arm and a leg of service but they're practically giving it for a low amount, you should call if you need that soon. If I only knew they had it I would have taken it for my folk's Ireland trip. Anyway, I'd probably call 7505433 next time or email them if I decide to push through with my trip (perhaps later this year).

There were a ton of us there during the event. We had fun talking to Pioneer executives and their team, plus the people from MacPower. MacPower Marketing Corporation is an IT and Accessories distributor in the Philippines that carries tons of brands in their arsenal. Whether it's audio, video, or just about anything that you can stick in your phone, they have it on their silos. You may get them in Switch stores, selected 7-11 outlets metro wide. Aside from that, I took interest with the ones they brought in the event. Take a look at these!

The Lumee case, the ultimate selfie tool used by Kim Kardashian and their whole family! This just looks so good no matter what the condition your lighting is. Costs around 3K for the iPhone 6 case and about a few hundred more for the iPhone 6 Plus.
This Wetsuit Impact case makes your phone almost indestructible, like a 30lb weight won't break it, and even makes your phone hella waterproof. Or maybe that's another case lol.
The Belkin Family Rockstar leaves you with tons of space for your other gadgets to charge in. The 4 port usb charger just rocks in my books. I didn't get one during the contest and I was a little sad LOL.
The good news is, MacPower is selling some of their gadgets together with the Pioneer Insurance coverages so when you buy something from them, you get to go out on adventures while you're covered for FREE. Now that's good news by any standard. To know more about Macpower, please check them out at https://www.facebook.com/MacpowerPH. Hopefully soon we could get some of their devices reviewed here too as they're very eager to lend us some of their wares. Now I'm extra excited!

Thank you Pioneer and Macpower Marketing Corporation for having us in your gathering! It was a pleasure meeting you all!

UNICEF Launches #ChildrenFirstStoryBooks with Anne Curtis

Friday, February 19, 2016

We were in SM North - The Block earlier to witness the launch of UNICEF's Children First Story Books. It's a project very close to the heart of Anne Curtis, one of UNICEF's Child Ambassador. The proceeds of the sales of these books will actually go to their fund and in turn help a lot of kids form the habit of reading which is crucial for today's generation to succeed. I'm a voracious reader, so this also hits close to home. I wouldn't want my kids to just spend all day in front of the TV, tablets or computers alone (hypothetically having kids I mean) so it would be a good thing for them to have something tangible every once in a while. I remember having these kinds of books in the past that taught kids not just to read, but learn a thing or two about good manners, courage, the concept of beauty, and the good values Filipinos should never lose.

Aside from Filipino children benefiting from reading, UNICEF takes care of the rights of the child. So if you're going to get the set, you're also helping them in efforts to eradicate poverty, educate more kids, and protect the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that every child should have. Anne also adds that the books would also entail the kids to have a sense of imagination, and could learn a thing or two about life lessons. She also believes that kids should have emotional and moral support that they need in order to grow. They can also learn to express themselves better if they get the confidence they need (as she talks about her book Anita the Duckling Diva).

UNICEF will also have the illustrations on all these books displayed on SM The Block's 3rd level until the 25th of February. Some of the patrons also had the opportunity to have their books signed by the authors and illustrators earlier. You can visit www.unicef.ph to know more on how you can help and get these children's books too. It only costs a mere Php 500 for 6 of them, plus you can also help their cause. That's a good deal right there.
