Eric Quizon, Billy Crawford, Kean Cipriano, Martin Escudero and Angeline Quinto in "That Thing Called Tanga Na"

Friday, August 05, 2016

A film done as a tribute to the LGBT, "That Thing Called Tanga Na" is said to be Mother Lily Monteverde's gift to the community. She promises this to be an entertaining film full of all kinds of love as she believes it's going to be relateable for all kinds of genders. The film outfit has produced "Petrang Kabayo", "Kumander Gringa", "Bala at Lipstick", "Manat Po 1 & 2", "Happy Together" and a couple of other themed films, they have steadfastly made these funny ones to showcase how colorful their lives are. These are just a few box office hits and they want to tell the story that no matter what gender, they are still human too, they are still capable of love and they also makes mistakes.

Here's a short video of them telling us about their characters:

Eric Quizon portrays Papa Chui, a gay man from a very conservative Chinese family who's actually in a relationship with a younger guy, and sponsors him for all his needs. Martin Escudero on the other hand plays a transexual woman who wants to adopt a kid and have a family. Billy Crawford meanwhile plays a closeted gay who's got a relationship with a guy who's mother is going to cause problems for them. Kean Cipriano here has a really professional career as a fashion designer and gets who he wants because of it. Little did soon to be married Angeline Quinto in the film that the guy she's marrying also slept with Kian's character. This will be a riot, a test on how Eric, Billy, Kean, Martin and Angeline would still be able to maintain their friendship despite their circumstances.

"During the first few days I was really hesitant because it's hard to play the character in the film, it was a challenge for me. I'm a rocker but I find the extreme difference between my real personality, the tone of his voice and walking with heels. We had to make CC be experienced and the challenge was how to balance his vibe, how to dress up, how to wear a night gown and embrace how his journey as a gay person is. It's so fun to be gay and you'll see how their lives are eventful. It won't be experienced as straight people. My take is we all make stupid decisions falling in love no matter what gender, form or shape we are. It's one great equalizer. I grew up going to all boy schools and I admit I pass some subjects because of gays, homophobie is passe and odd living a life fearing a person with that gender, that's a problem. It's challenging to take out simple things as a man, and the tone of my voice, I enjoy saying words and converse with fellow actors like that, it's fun!" says Kean Cipriano.

Here's an interview we did a couple of months ago during a set visit

Similar to Kean I was hesitant and I don't want to offend anyone doing the role. We had negative impressions in the past with things we did in skits of Showtime. This is my comeback film in Regal so I was excited, a bit skeptical because it was Joel Lamangan. We wouldn't be able to do it withour him and we enjoyed how he shaped each individual character. Mine was easier because I need to also be a little strong, I didn't have any guides and Direk was really strict about that. There are gays that when you see them, you see them really fun, but you really have to know their story and the things that they are going through. You make mistakes but you move on." says Billy.

Lawrence Yap says "I'm the husband of Angeline in this film and I had to really convince myself sometimes that I have to play him funny. In terms of gender, love doesn't really choose who to do it with. No hate, just love."

"I brought Korean food and cooked in the set so we could get really bonded. It was fun and that's what I ultimately wanted to happen. A lot of people tell me I am "Babaeng Bakla" even when I was still living in Sampaloc and I think that title alone is fun. Everyone is capable of being an idiot especially when it comes to love, I learned a lot in this film because of what they go through in life. I know a lot of people who are in this industry, some even marry off and it's not a bad thing." adds Angeline

"I feel this movie would really help understand how to handle situations and gay relationships. I've met homophobic people but I tell them when I do hear things like that." says Paolo Gumabao.

"From the bottom of my heart, I am thankful that gays have built Regal what it is right now. This one is for you, I made this film for my friends and I have a lot of them in my circle. This is to thank you!" says Mother Lily.

The film also stars hunks Albie Casino, Ken Alfonso, Timothy Lawrence Yap, Paolo Gumabao, Luke Conde, Jerald Napoles, funny vixen Shine Kuk, Nikki Valdez, and a lot more. Again this film is directed by Joel Lamangan for Regal Films. Premier night will be on August 9 at SM Megamall's Cinema 7. It will be shown on theaters this coming August 10 nationwide!

Thursday, August 04, 2016

Playing Pokemon in the Philippines!
It hasn't been launched yet but I was one of the few people who got excited and played with Pokemon Go in PH a couple of months ago. Since the game isn't here yet, I'm still super excited because apart from having our own dedicated server, we're also going to be welcomed with FREE ACCESS exclusive to SMART Subscribers here in the Philippines. Oh yes you heard that right, it means that Smart and TNT subscribers with iPhone and Android Phones can access the game without any charges for 7 days after it gets launched in the country.

Pokemon GO is a location based augmented reality mobile game and is currently available in 30 countries. It was initially launched in USA, New Zealand, Australia and Japan on July 6 but is going to conquer Philippine shores very soon!

Smart has also launched their #PHForPokemonGO campaign online in anticipation of the huge following this game has been able to do in a span of a few weeks. For Pokemon Series fans, this augmented reality game can get you back that nostalgia. As for now, you can stay in the real world environment with OMNOM, Zombie's Run, or Niantic's Ingress so you can get a feel of Pokemon GO even if it's not here yet.

You can also be assured that it'll be really smooth with Smart and TNT when it launches soon. You can be sure to make Pokemon GO purchases even without a credit card. Smart's Google Direct Carrier Billing for Android users can be used to purchase POKECOINS so you can buy supplies to make that Pokemon Catching habit easy. It will be charged on your Prepaid or Postpaid account. Meanwhile another alternative for Postpaid subscribers is Smart's Pay-With-Mobile service. It will be charged on your account and pay later when your bill arrives.

If you want to hear more news about it, follow Smart's social media channels. I'm sure, it's worth the wait!

Change the Mood in Your Home with Favori Scents

Wednesday, August 03, 2016

I'm such a late bloomer. I just realized how much a drop of fragrance could immediately make your day extraordinary. Case in point, are these life changing Aerator/Diffuser Oil from Favori Scents. I always see this contraption in restrooms in our office and have learned to stay away from it because apparently they were using cheap fabric softeners instead of legit fragrance oils. I kinda cringed after knowing how much these lovely ones cost because if you think about it, they're actually not that expensive. Aside from that, Favori scents effectively kills disease causing bacteria in the air. Imagine how your kids, your loved one, your family and friends would be able to feel safe when they're inside your home. Doesn't that give you peace of mind?

I was a little stressed this week. From covering events, a new harder work out routine, less carbs, no rice, the whole enchilada! The little refuge I need didn't have to cost an arm and a leg because - it's just my bed room. Now I won't let you see my cave for obvious reasons, but I just wanted to try this out. So I took it out of the box and saw these cute little blue bottles from Favori Scents. It was a little mysterious as I didn't know what scents were in the pouch, but when I took it out, I loved what I saw!

The bottle of scents came with a small label. It indicated that it is water soluble. It only means that the thing can actually be dissolved in water. It also says that it can kill odor causing bacteria in the air and is best used in an air conditioned environment, which totally fits the thing that I'm doing today.

At the back of the same label, they encourage you to actually return the empty Favori Scent bottles. They also will give you discounts on your next purchase, that's so nice of them no? So for 4 days I tried them all! Here's what I found out.

Lemon Grass - This is one scent that I usually only appreciate while inside the kitchen. I have it in drinks or chicken most of the time, but it's actually quite good to use here too. Lemongrass oils have been used in perfumery for ages, you just didn't know because they keep it a secret. It is said to be good to make you relax, lessen anxiety, take care of insomnia and drowsiness. Having one thing to do all that is phenomenal and before I used it on the first day, I was sleeping 2-4 hours a day (no joke). I used this and it was quite relaxing, so I slept with the keyboard in my face (around 9PM) and woke up 8AM the next day. Undeniably, it helped and I was gearing to use it everyday after that. I had a better plan though so I used the other Favori Scents instead!

Winter Mint was a little surprising. I love the cold temperature in my room, but this just takes it to a whole different level. I could feel it a little sting, the good type, like I'm breathing fresh eucalyptus infused air, like I'm in a forest. Although I haven't even stepped out of my room in that instance. I dreamed I was a vampire that evening running through the forest... like Twilight, without the glitters, but that acres upon acres of white snow. It felt so fresh, a little minty, and you could feel it when you enter the room. It's there and it will calm you down whatever happened throughout the day.

Fresh Fruity Mango with notes of sweeter citrus on top, that's what Mango Mandarin smells like. A few drops would actually perk you up, like a bowl of sunshine in the morning. I bet this would be actually better used at daytime because it's fresh and sweet. It's like spring time! Like a whole basket full of mandarin oranges were put in a bowl with cold ice and placed right at your bed side table. Amazing!

Sunkissed Citrus on the other hand presents a sweeter but tangy smell in the air. It's a little more on the citrus side, still sweet but you get the impression of orange slices and a whole fruit platter inside your room. Again, this changes your mood from relaxed to perky. This would really work when you're off to work or just have a few friends over while having tea time or anything in that line. I loved this the most!

I also super love the diffuser that I got from them. It's light, it's got the graduated marks on the side to see if it's already on the minimum or maximum level. Make sure you don't fill it up to the brim because again, this gets your air in a centripetal manner. If it spins around and you have the water up there, it'll probably spill. Aside from that, make sure you only use a few drops of the Favori Scents fragrance oils because its intensity actually depends on how many you put in. I only put in around 5 and it'll last throughout the day when the liquid gets to the minimum level. Putting in the Favori Scents on it could last you a couple of weeks and you don't really need that much if you're just putting it in your room or common areas.

Favori actually doesn't just sell these lovely aerators and aroma oils, they also have Air Sprays, Aroma Candles (oh I love this too!), Aroma Pouches, Diffusers and Burners too. I visited their Megamall branch last Monday and they've got everything! If you hurry, you can join their promo and win one of these Leaf Aerators as seen above! I love how it actually works at night and changes color, definitely puts me in the mood. Go visit them at the GF of Market Market!, GF of Robinsons Place Manila, GF of SM Marikina, SM Megamall Building A and SM Southmall for the people down south! It's the easy way, the affordable one, and boy it's worth it! Now it's your turn to love, appreciate and smell what Favori Scents has to offer!

Richard Poon and Richard Yap: The Chinito Crooners

Tuesday, August 02, 2016

It looks like the Moms and not so Moms are gonna have a grand time on August 26, 2016, 8PM at the Theater at Solaire. It's called RICHARD X RICHARD The Chinito Crooners: A Salute to Classic Lovesongs. They have both been admired in their respective fields and it's about time Richard Yap actually does another thing that he loves which is singing. Richard Poon on the other hand is excited because he'll get to sing not so popular songs but classic ones, which most of the organizers even liked when they conceptualized it. Richard Poon also wanted to support Richard Yap as this is his first time to go out as a singer, which the former encouraged him to do a long time ago.

Richard Poon also joked about stealing the audience of Richard Yap as he noticed most of the moms were in the VIP section in a gig they did a while back. They are still arranging guests, hopefully they could bring JK, Bailey, Jody Sta. Maria, Maricar Poon in the concert but they are still confirming it.

This was pitched to them a year ago by Richard Poon's manager. They thought about it and agreed to it a couple of months ago. As for the genre of songs, Richard Poon knows how it is a little difficult to combine what they're doing. Richard Yap mostly does love songs in the 80's and 90's while Richard Poon does standards even in the 50's and he knows he had to adjust a little on the POP side because of it. During the presscon, they had delved a little about politics and bashers online but some have valid answers, so they do talk. Anyway, they will be showcasing what they have in the lineup and you should be excited! They're also launching an album, hopefully before the said date and it will be also a collaboration. They also have half of the playlist already recorded and hopefully be out very soon! They're trying to revive and get the songs be interesting so the younger audience appreciates it.

Again, it will be at The Theater at Solaire in Pasay City this August 26, 2016. Tickets available at Ticketworld.com.ph or call 8919999 today!
