Ogie Alcasid Doesn't Want To Grow Old

Thursday, August 11, 2016

We sat down with Ogie Alcasid the other day to talk to him about his upcoming concert at the Music Museum this August 26 and 27. It's entitled "Ayokong Tumanda" (I don't want to get old!) which came from the hit Itchyworms song on their latest album.

He says "I didn't have a plan, I just miss singing and consequently it's my birthday too. So this is like a birthday concert. The concept came from me and my director. I've always done concerts in Music Museum and it's like home. The songs would be a compilation of greatest hits and I might have Lara Maigue and Basti Artadi who's in the same management company as I am so this will be good.  Empoy was supposed to be in the show but he's been so busy recently. I didn't know how managing talents started, it was just at the Elements camp when I mentored some artists, it was just then that I said to my self "I wanna help these guys!". Most of them are singer songwriters. I don't think they really need my help because they are already so talented.

For those who've seen me in the other channel, I was in ASAP because of Ryan Cayabyab and OPM. They always have me when they do those shows. I miss the grind of shooting entertainment shows on TV5, but hopefully soon I'd be able to do it again. I might resign from the OPM Presidency a few months from now, and I might let very talented guys to take over. I like Christian Bautista and Yael, and they've been in the industry long enough to know how to help. The younger guys should be given a chance to do that.

About Digong's appointments, I think it just comes with the territory and it becomes scrutinized largely because of social media. I say give them a chance. I'm also very happy for Jaya, she seems very happy in ABSCBN.

TV5 has a problem, we have to admit that. I want to talk to my boss first (perhaps this week when his contract expires) and see if I'm still needed. I've been there for 3 years and we haven't done all the changes I need to do. I don't want to leave a sinking ship because I really want to help. I want to help them first. MVP is very humble and I really respect the man. My network is in need of content and I'm also glad they're allowing me to promote in other stations.

I have pokemons, the comics and action figures. I bought it when it almost ended. I'm glad I got it and people envy me for it.

My daughter looks like Selena Gomez because her Dad looks like Richard Gomez. She's 18, I'm ready to introduce her to you next year and she was a bit shocked to be hounded by people when she visited the Philippines when we went into a mall. She sings, but she's more of a writer - like a novelist. She's got English topped in Australia, and her professors say she's a very deep person. She enrolled in University of Sydney where the Prime Minister also graduated. She's single now, she was sad for a while and we Facetimed during that event. During Christmas they went here and had fun. They went back and enjoyed Palawan in June even when it was a bit rainy. I wanted them to go back on a regular basis as it's different here. The warmer beaches, I hope that makes it easier for them to perhaps become influencers/bloggers when they decide to stay here. I think her Mom would also agree because she's very pretty.

I'm turning 49 and this concert is about my greatest hits, and I wanted to sing it the way I did in the past. Even though some body parts are already aching, even if I feel it, I'm embracing it. We didn't get old, I'm still the same guy, still childish. I'll be singing an Itchyworms song "Ayokong Tumanda" but am changing the lyrics a bit. I'll be doing it on August 26 and 27 at the Music Museum. Aiai and Regine will be my guests, and is going to be directed by Floy Quintos.

He is my first Director and I wanted to do the old things I did with him. In a way it's like going back to the old me. I have Ryan Cayabyab as my Musical Director. It's been a while since I've had one so it's like I'm starting again. We've gotten really good talent do their shows first this year, a thing that OPM really supports. I've supported them a lot and I hope in some way, I've helped their careers start.

I feel Michael V misses me, I bet he made our Sunday Basketball an excuse just so he could meet me. It's sad to see staff not doing anything and hope we're going to tape more in the coming months.

Regine and I haven't really made plans for my birthday, maybe she'll get me a coffee maker. I don't want to go down the house and just have it inside the room. Hopefully I'll have another show in September at the Kia Theater. It's still in the works.

My son (the cute Nate) is a big fan of the Kramers, Nate wants to see them, I guess he wants to play with kids. My son wants to be a passenger of PAL, not a pilot, not an F.A, but a passenger. It's his current obsession. I hope Kuya Willie can lend him a plane. He learns about planes on Youtube, even puts sticker planes on countries he's already gone to. It's cute.

These days, I'm a little ashamed to admite that I get really sleepy early. Regine scolds me about it and tells me I'm not good man the morning after. "

Ogie Alcasid still has his new album "Ikaw ang Buhay Ko" (You are my life) out in the market. Make sure you catch his concert this August 26 and 27 at the Music Museum! It'll be one for the books!

Ai Meets Lani, Lani Meets Ai : The Concert

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

It's on this September 17 and according to Ms. Aiai she's excited because she used to just watch Lani in her concerts but now it's going to be one night of showing off what they can do on stage and it's going to be epic. Their opening number alone would actually take 12 minutes straight and she says she's in the gym most if the time because she might not last that long. It's going to be at the KIA Theater and she also notes she's going to wear gowns by Michael Cinco and Rocky Gathercole. She's currently preparing for Sunday Pinasaya and a couple more shows, this year has been good to her.

Lani has been here May but is now doing a series of shows in Las Vegas so she's not here to promote that much. Aiai says she's giving Lani tips how to sing so she could learn how to do it her way. It's been 6 years since her last concert in Araneta Coliseum and she's concentrated more on movies, TV shows, but she's taking that Comedy Concert Queen title seriously as she's shy to be bestowed that title by Martin Nievera. She doesn't even memorize some of the songs and admits never even uses lyrics at times, she just sings with any word just as long as it sounds right. She wanted to do this with Ms. Lani Misalucha as she's done it with Lea Salonga. Lani should be afraid because she might not get the range of Aiai, which I totally agree on... Am I alone here? Hello!??? LOL

This will also include some show off of men, that's where you'll see their "Patalbugan ng Papa" number which will take a lot of time. Aiai has remembered how much Lani had given support for her in her 2013 wedding. Next wedding she wants her to sing as well, perhaps in the next 5 years. She's been divorced 2 years, and courts granted her to re-marry so she's taking her time and leave it up to the Lord. She's been on a diet for a long time and have kept a 26 inch waistline to boot. This is just the start she says and she knows she's going to take her time so she could do more live concerts. She mentions Lani can do it all including singing while lying down, and she's taking it to the next level by swimming while singing. She promises that. She also has an indie film in the pipeline where she does a controversial shower scene and will perhaps be shown internationally, something she's very proud of.

To learn to accept the things you cannot change, this is her motto. She's not that vocal but she's still getting misinterpreted and she always wanted to reply. She knows now NOT to do that, and learned the art of DEADMA. She looks so radiant that afternoon and she told us that her secret is keeping in this motto in her mind. This concert is produced by Ms. Pops Fernandez, and again this is going to show in September 17, 2016.

Later on in the presscon, they also live streamed Ms. Lani Misalucha and she also answered questions from the press. She says she wasn't forced to do this and she mentions how long they haven't been together for a long time, says it's about time to put them together in one venue. This is the best avenue for them to be together, as they have no chance to do it on TV shows. She's happy that the concert scene is alive and this will be fun, light, and need to have this continue so you can see different elements. She's now starting to record an album with Star Records and perhaps release later this year, a thing that she's working on plus an intenationally released single on iTunes and Google Play.

Again this will be fun! They both hope you can come this September for Ai Meets Lani for a night of songs and laughter, you should also wait for the international tour slated later in the year as they plan to do more shows in the states and the whole northern american region.

My Creamy Pork Adobo

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

Chef Rob Pengson's Creamy Chicken Adobo, I'm up for a challenge!

It's been quite a while since I've been able to see how they cooked the Creamy Chicken Adobo. I'm sure you've seen my post here a couple of days back but I've been rearing to make this at home. I'm not a chef, but I do cook. I could call myself "experimental" if there's a word for it. I can cook really mean pork dishes and I don't hold back on flavor, but what made me a little giddy during that afternoon of cooking was that they challenged us, that every dish would be special if we had Nestle Cream in it. I'm up for that!

They gave us kitchen tools and bricks of Nestlé All Purpose Cream to make it easier to recreate the dish at home!

Now everyone has got their own Adobo recipe, mine's a little different because I want it to be a little spicy. I cooked with pork in lieu of chicken for dinner this evening as I wanted it to be a little "nutritious" too. I kid, of course I wanted a little fat on the dish!

Here's my recipe:

1/2 Kilogram Pork Steak cut into strips
2 Table Spoon Canola Oil
2/3 Cups Vinegar
1/2 Cup Maggi Soy Sauce
1/2 Tea Spoon Maggi Magic Sarap
3 Laurel Leaves
3 Cloves Garlic Crushed
1/2 Tea Spoon Sugar
1/2 Table Spoon Pepper Corn
1/2 Table Spoon Ground Pepper
1pc Thai Bird Chili
1/2 Cup Water
1 pack Nestle All Purpose Cream

Marinate the Pork First in 1 Table Spoon Maggi Soy Sauce for about 30 Minutes.  In a pan, pour in 2 Table Spoons of Canola Oil and let it become hot first. Drop in the pork strips and let it brown on the sides, then set it aside. On the same pan, pour in the vinegar and let it boil a little. Then put in the pork steak strips back, the garlic, then the rest of the Maggi Soy Sauce and the water. Add the peppercorns, a dash of pepper, the sugar, the Thai Bird Chili and half a tea spoon of Maggi Magic Sarap. You can also add the 3 Laurel Leaves and let it simmer. If the sauce reduces, turn off the heat and add in the Nestle All Purpose Cream. Make sure you mix it thoroughly. In a bowl, serve the Pork first in a mound then pour in the sauce. This is best paired with a cup or two of white rice. Enjoy!

The reason why I had the cream added at the end was to make it not separate from the oil. I like my Pork Adobo be extra creamy and it was so good I had seconds, no I had thirds!

They were right, adding Nestle Cream to everyday dishes can really make it special. When I had this dinner with my family this evening, they said the dish was weird. I waited a bit and voila! The rice for 5 people suddenly disappeared... and so did the Creamy Pork Adobo.

Thank you for letting me know that my everyday dishes CAN become VERY SPECIAL just by adding Nestle All Purpose Cream. You can do it too, trust me on the cream!

Never Miss an Encantadia Episode on iFLIX!

I've been watching this show since it started and have been able to talk to the Sanggre's in one way or another. Everybody was excited when this was in the works and sure enough, it proved to be something that people wanted to catch every night. Unfortunately I too have events to cover and sometimes arrive late at home so I do miss an episode every now and then. Thanks to iFLIX though because I won't be having that problem no more. You see, once an episode shows on public television, they go ahead and upload it to the system 24 hours after it airs. That means if you miss one, you don't have to worry because it'll be at the iFlix library the day after. Aside from that, you won't be missing any scene because you can literally rape the replay button whenever you want, wherever you can stream iFlix on the Smart network!

Think of Marian Rivera, Glaiza De Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbie Garcia, Sanya Lopez and Dingdong Dantes in one place. They're also showing the episodes now where Pirena is becoming a little evil, so just imagine how the story is going to be interesting once that it's told on this remake/reboot. You'll also love Ruru Madrid, Rocco Nacino and the other artists included in the mix. Go subscribe to iFlix now or if you haven't tried it yet, take advantage of your free days upon signup in iFLIX. I'm enjoying it a LOT and never miss an episode of Encantadia. You shouldn't too.

Download iFLIX on the App Store and Google Play. You'll never regret it!
