Monday, September 19, 2016

It looks like a brighter outlook for Philippine music as the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Incorporated together with Pioneer one of the top insurance firms in the country launched the FILSCAP Campus Caravan which is a songwriting workshop-talk that aims to guide budding songwriters and musicians in the aspects of songwriting. The tour will include a visit to schools like De Lasalle University in Manila, San Beda College in Alabang, University of Makati and Ateneo de Davao. The workshop will be facilitated by artists and noted veterans from the FILSCAP organization and will also introduce the #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition. This isn't entirely about the songwriter's lovelife but about the Filipino's esteemed trait of resiliency, like bouncing back from challenges in life. Those who would want to submit their entries can just visit www.moveonlang.ph so they can register and submit their work.

Winners won't be empty handed as they are set to win up to Php 260,000 worth of prizes of which Php 100,000 is the grand prize. All winners will get Pioneer Insurance coverage and one will be judges as the online favorite. Pioneer has been doing this for a long time now as they have been a staunch supporter of the arts. In the past, they have been doing it for the stage plays and literature but now it's going to be the turn of music. Pioneer has also sponsored international concerts and this move to work with local musicians, artists and songwriters definitely came at a better time.

The Launch of Nutrition Hub AskND.ph

Where do I start? Hmmm...

I went to an evening expecting  a simple launch of a website but it turns out that it's a whole discussion between Dietitians, Nutritionists, Doctors, Health Workers, Food Suppliers and experts. Imagine the medical jargon being thrown from left to right, forward and backward, and my nose was bleeding in the middle of everything. Before it became the Red Sea, it was explained to us that AskND.ph is for health professionals and common folk that would want to address nutrition issues. The problem nowadays is that people tend to ask friends and family instead of true nutritionists and dietitians. There's a huge danger there because 1.) They might not know what they're doing and 2.) You might end up endangering yourself. I don't have to even tell you why because you probably know why. But let me also add something to your brain's library two terms, FOOD ALLERGY and FOOD INTOLERANCE.

Dr. Nigel Abraham
Dr. Virgith B. Buena
Dr. Rolando Balburias

These distinguished men and women told us about it. For those who already know their allergies, the usual suspects are those you love so dearly. Pollen from those lovely flowers, seafood from the Philippines, the lovely Milk from your friendly cow, Chicken from your favorite restaurant, and dust from EDSA. You all have at one way or another had to give up things because you're allergic to it. What I didn't know at first is that Allergy and Intolerance are two different things. Food intolerance means you have a specific set of food to actually avoid for you to have better health. Now it's a little arduous to actually do it and that would entail testing almost every single food item that you see in the grocery or market. Can you imagine how huge that is? Well, thank the lords of Cambridge, they've made it a little easy.

This kit called Food Detective is the most advanced scientific way to find out what food items you are intolerant with. These are just one of the tests they have at hospitals and clinics of Nutritionists, Dietitians and Doctors now. After numerous attempts to simplify it, they've managed to put it into these slots so you know what you're intolerant with. Do you sometimes feel bloated when you eat things? I was surprised because they told me it's a sign that the body was reacting to what we eat and that is some sort of in a state of being swollen. Sometimes you also gain a lot of weight because of it, everything becomes complicated because you don't know what you're intolerant with. This kit and the result was explained to me.

Then I found out that I'm intolerant to Wheat (which means bread yes :( ), Corn (of which I love so much for snacks), Yeast (of which means anything that is fermented, like Soy Sauce, Kimchi :( ), and get this, I am intolerant too to COW's Milk. It was shocking, as I've literally been eating this my whole life. Was I sad? A little, but now that I know, it's a good thing. I can slowly take it out of my diet and lifestyle. For me, that's better than not knowing at all.

If you want help, if you want a personally designed diet, you should try it out at the AskND.ph Facebook page. They've been doing this for years and they have experts (real certified ones) answering questions there. Your body is NOT a joke, you should seriously only get help from those who have studied and spent years learning about it. Other than that, eating right is not enough and you have to have physical activity to reach your target health. Do it right by consulting with experts over at AskND.ph. ACER Launches World's Thinnest Notebook: Aspire S Series

Saturday, September 17, 2016

What's your aspirations? What do you wish for in life? This is what ACER is asking you now that they're launching their new ACER S Series. They boast it's the world's thinnest notebook but couldn't help but give inspiration first to the people who attended their event. First up was motivational speaker Francis Kong.

Francis Kong a well known inspirational speaker said "You study, you grow, you maintain humility no matter where you are and get there. You fall, you pick yourself up and continue. Some people have gone through hardships, himble beginnings, but did you quit? NO. Once we reach success, we have to guard ourselves because it gets to our head. Once we experience difficulty and success, never allow failure to creep into your heart nor get success into your head. We all have aspirations, the younger you are to get there, the happier you will be. Life in this planet has its own countdown, remember those difficult moments and how you bounced back, how you have become a blessing to others. That is what you should aspire!"

Miss World Megan Young arrived and gave a few words and said "Inspiration, I am lucky that I have great people around me that uplift me. Learning from so many people, helping each other become better people, not only in you biggest moments, but to inspire more people so they would be also inspired with your story."

The Aspire S3 has an all aluminum body, 12 hours of battery life. The Aspire S5 does wireless faster, uses AC standard in different channels and you get upload and download in different sections. It's also got powerful DOLBY audio. The S7 is 9mm thick and it's thinner beyond imagination. The black aluminum design and gold trims makes it sexy, but always tough.

This is the ACER Aspire S3, S5 and S7 is now available in the Philippines this month.

Thanks ACER for having us!
