What's Great About Today?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? I know I do. Sometimes, things don't turn out right, things don't happen for you, but you just want to feel awesome right at the moment you get out of bed. I was feeling under the weather last week and I was a little panicked because I had to cover about 9 events that week. I already drank meds and the usual vitamins + supplements I always take when I feel like this way. Still, I felt a little sad and drowsy. A delivery guy came and gave me this humongous mysterious crate that morning and I thought it was fresh fruits! It was exactly what I need! I was surprised when I opened it though!

Oooh! I was ecstatic because it asked me immediately about what's great about today! It reminded me that I had a lot of things to be thankful for and this surprise was one of them. This thing was also a writing board so I could hang it on my wall and remind myself about things I should be thinking about early in the morning.

Right under that happy sign, were little tetra bricks of Oishi Great Lakes. These are real fruit juice drinks that's got no artificial coloring, no artificial flavors or coloring. I could imagine it tasting like the real thing that's pressed through cloth like what they do with apple cider. Or what they do when grapes get harvested and they start processing it for wine. The younger juice is sweeter, non alcoholic, real fruity in smell and flavor.

What's even more fun is that they also come in 1 Liter packs which my family absolutely loves! Now we can drink from the box and just keep the rest in the fridge for later, or even cook with it. I can imagine divine sauces for pork dishes, or perhaps beef and gravy with the grape juice. Doesn't that sound good?

You too have a LOT of things to be thankful for today! You should go out, go to the grocery or convenience stores and get yourself Oishi Great Lakes for your homes. I'm getting my apple fix, plus grape juice too. Don't be sad, because as I said you've got a ton of things to be thankful for. The sun outside is shining, you've got a lot of friends who care, plus a family to love you unconditionally.

Now you tell me, what's great about today?

Jollibee Releases JolliDance Showdown App and Jolly Pinoy Collectibles

I'm a believer... in dreams made of happiness.. and what a child wants it to be. I believe it's something that would let them develop even BIGGER things, improve race and make technology beneficial for themselves, and generations to come.

Just week ago, Jollibee got us to experience something new. They have been working so hard together with a US based tech company called Trigger to make use of the new generation Jolly Joy Box and how they would get to make this simple packaged treat for kids become a great live dance studio for Jollibee, you and his whole crew! Unbelievable? Yes, but not quite impossible as we saw it in action last week! It's called JolliDance Showdown!

Step 1 Go get a Jolly Kiddie Meal (Jolly Joy Box shown above) and enjoy it in the store, at home, or anywhere in the world!

Step 2 Download the JolliDance Showdown App on the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play

Step 3 Once installed, open it and scan your Jolly Joy Box. You'll see the actual box come to life and be a full blown Jollibee Store complete with disco balls and stuff!

Step 4 You can also take a selfie and join Jollibee and friends in the lovely dance number

Step 5 You can also make your own dance track by going to the DJ for Jollibee section and dance it off with Jollibee!

Step 6 To get Jollibee's friends like Hetty, Popo Potato, Mr. Yum or Twirlie, go to your nearby Jollibee store and scan the special sign so you can unlock them all. Remember, you can only do this one character per day so you have to go back to Jollibee!

You'll love how Jollibee and his friends would be able to interact with your kids and it's just super cool to see it dance the whole day without getting tired. Imagine it on top of your table, your toys, your couch, your car, and just about anywhere you could fit that Jolly Joy Box! It's like magic and it's the first time for any fast food restaurant to launch an app of this nature! You'll love Jollibee all over again!

That's not all, because they've also got something for the young and young at heart. Take a look at these lovely Jolly Pinoy Collectibles!

The Hetty Vinta Getaway would remind you of Zamboanga where these lovely boats are found. She also moves and plays the sound of the waves. It's not your ordinary toy which you can get for 150 Philippine Pesos for each value meal purchase.

The Twirlie Pinoy Sorbetes on  the other hand will make you miss the grandfather of all Pinoy street desserts, the ice cream and vehicle we call Sorbetes. She also calls for customers and rings that little bell on her hand when she needs too. This is just too fun!

My personal favorite among all the toys is this Popo Carabao Farm. Of course KUMACOW is related to the Philippine Carabao and the cute french fry guy takes care of the audible mooing animal he's with. You should get this!

For some touristy fun, get this Mr. Yum Kalesa Fun toy. It also shrieks like a real horse at a touch of a switch. Don't you just want to take it home?

Nothing comes close to being Pinoy than the real deal Jollibee Jeepney! If you want to know, Jollibee even calls passengers to ride on this cute little jeep beside him. He doesn't just make YUMmy burgers, he's also a barker!

As I mentioned, you can enjoy these lovely Jolly Pinoy Collectibles by purchasing a Jollibee Value Meal and 150 bucks! That's a steal if you ask me because this lovely toys would last you for generations, you just have to take good care of it!

Now how's that for a Jollibee laden post? You've got the JolliDance Showdown App, plus a ton of new Jolly Pinoy Collectibles to get when you're inside a Jollibee store anywhere in the world! Oh yes, whether you are in the US or in the Philippines, the next time you crave for Chickenjoy, Yum or Champ Burgers, you'll see these inside the store so collect them all!

Grace Lee's New Dining Spot: Kko Kko Home of Seoul Chicken

Tuesday, October 04, 2016

It's been a while since I've seen Grace Lee, last time of which I think was during a men's magazine launch. A lot has happened in the past few years and now she's one of the most sought after host and news presenters in the country. Star power aside, she's got her hand on kitchen tables a few years ago and put up a business with her Mom and a couple of business associates. That restaurant has flourished and is very successful especially with the young Korean crowd that's already in the community. The demand for authentic, current food from Korea has increased over the years and they're giving Filipinos what they want. This time, they're donning a new name and keeping the same good dishes that they've served over the years. They're also taking it up a notch by putting the great food in an equally better ambiance at the Sapphire Bloc in the Ortigas business district and calling it Kko Kko. As the name suggests, it's going to be about the good chicken that they're serving... which I absolutely loved that evening.

The place can hold about 40-50 people. That includes outside seating for those who prefer to do that on lunch and dinner. The interiors are mostly farmed wood, concrete, some bunk chairs, mirrors, some greens and flowers on the wall. I like that it's like a modern Asian kitchen, a little cute from outside.

Kimbap - This is a staple in most Korean meals. The white one was done with soy and green mangoes/jicama if I'm not mistaken. The red one is a little spiced up with kimchi, which I actually liked. I'd order the latter if I'd go back to this place.

Snow Chicken - You can have this ordered half or whole. I'd suggest you order the whole one if you're a bunch of guys because I'm sure it'll be out quite quickly. Don't be fooled by it's appearance because those things on top of the chicken ain't snow but tons of cheese, cheese, and cheese. It's out of this world and I thought this won't work but it actually did. This was a hit also on their other restaurant so they kept it on the menu and tons of people are absolutely praising it. You can also have this with Fire Chili, we didn't have it that evening but I'm planning to get some the next time I'd visit. They say it's the hottest stuff on the planet! I'd give this a 4/5 and definitely recommend it.

Chicken Cheese Fondue - This is the craziest thing on the menu and a LOT of people absolutely LOVE this. It's sweet soy glazed chicken fingers, tons of fries, and a batch of beer battered onion rings with a bread bowl full of Cheese in the center. Contrary to the usual fondue, this is a savory treat that shouldn't be missed because its crazy good. You would be sorry if you don't order this especially for cheese lovers because that thing in the center is made of dreams. If I was the only person in the table I would gladly drink that concoction and be happy for one day. It's freakishly awesome, but don't take my word for it... you should try it out yourself.
Here's a short interview we did with Grace Lee during the event.

Thank you so much to Kko Kko and Grace Lee for having us in their lovely restaurant! It's located at the ground floor of Sapphire Bloc along Garnet Road in Ortigas. Can't wait to see more branches of these soon!
