Great Men's Accesories from Neptune's Trove

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

I've been meaning to write about this because I've been in search for really good accessories these past few months. The thing is, I've found wearing a watch sometimes becomes a little too redundant these days especially because we all have our cell phones to tell the time. Now I know, I'm not alone. I know a bunch of guys would even gladly go out and not wear anything at all because style isn't a priority. That's sad because as far as I know, accessorizing with men should be simple. We don't need to spend an arm and a leg, and absolutely no fuss over how things should look like. It's a validation, for men to feel confident to whatever it is that you put on them.

The reason why I'm talking about this is because of Neptune's Trove. They sent me a care package a few weeks ago and I was delighted to see a startup engaging in men's accessories. There's only a handful number of people who do concentrate in a legitimate line of accessories for men so for me this was so much good news.

Neptune's Trove is the brain child of Renan Mendoza, an IT Analyst for a private corporation. I feel his passion, I mean, we've never met but the way he puts words in his emails felt really eager. When asked about why he did put up this business, he mentions "I wanted to follow my father's footsteps. He's an engineer entrepreneur and being involved in our previous businesses gave me the will to put up my own. Also, my father, Mon, inspired me that putting up a businesses can be an opportunity to help people - give them a decent livelihood and knowledge. I dream that this business of mine grow for me to be able to help those single mothers and youth by providing them jobs and craft knowledge to make them better members of the society."

He adds "My father is my inspiration. He is a self made man. He grew up in the slums and made his way up to be a successful person that he is through decent hard work. Because of that he was able to send us to good schools (Don Bosco and UST) all five of us siblings." that's cool.

When I picked up the box I saw three things, the first one of which is a Brown Leather Cuff Bracelet. I've already worn this a couple of times to events and just about everyday. It's classic, a bit modern because it reminds me of a snake skin pattern. I won't deny, I like it a lot. I think it's actually meant to be worn together with other bracelets but I realized it looks good on it's own. As I said, I wanted it simple. For a good week and a half, it stayed on my wrist in lieu of a watch and it did get a lot of attention. I was also purposely taking it off, I had to show it off LOL. I'm glad to note it didn't look cheap either.

Plus the lock was pretty neat. It just snaps together and looks good and seamless. I could imagine this even worn under a suit.

This one is too. It's called an Anchor Wrist Wrap which is basically made of paracord material - it's tough but a little elastic. It's a bit popular now, with good reason because this actually looks good together with other things like more bracelets or event watches.

I know his brand is called Neptune's Trove, but I wondered about his fascination with Anchors and things that are marine inspired in general. He replied "I love the sea! Or anything that affiliates with water. As a competitive swimmer myself, I feel alive when I see a pool or a body of water during travel/vacations! Not to mention that the sea is very comparable to my personality - calm, zen and at peace. Thus the brand name too! I invested in men's accessories because this is where I feel I should improve on. Ive considered myself a conservative type when it comes to business...my ideas always jump to businesses I'm familiar with. But this time,  I wanted to take the risk and test my capability as an entrepreneur."

He's also got it on different colors. This one is Bronze Tan, but I also like the other ones with the UAAP themes as he's got it in the different school colors. It's not that expensive either, it's less than a hundred bucks so if you are getting his from Neptune's Trove, you should get a lot. They've also got beaded ones which costs about the same as the leather cuff bracelets earlier. The market could really use some of these pieces because it's easy to use when you're in a suit or street wear.

It's classy, trendy, and can fit you in formal or casual occasions. You're also helping a startup that specializes in what men need these days, a promising accessory manufacturer that looks good on you and me. It's indeed a treasure, something so simple that's pleasing to the eyes without going overboard aesthetically or overly expensive. It's also the perfect gift for your Dad, brother, friend or boyfriend. Again, it's not that expensive and with the worth you're getting for every item, you're getting so much more in every piece.

I'd suggest you get multiple pieces so you can save on shipping. If you find this nice, I'd suggest you go ahead and Text, DM him on his social media channels or contact through Viber at 09162117267. I'm happy with what I have right now and I've been using it the whole time I was out of town and covering events. If it looks good on me, I'm sure it'll look good on you!

Ryza Cenon Stars in Quezon City International Film Festival Entry

She's one of the most gorgeous faces in the GMA Artist Center stable and has starred in countless programs on the same network. She's been doing roles that are quite wholesome, very reminiscent of young character actresses and hasn't been gambling that much in the industry. That's about to change a LOT now that Ryza Cenon is going to be in an entry at Quezon City International Film Festival for the movie called "Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23 B". This is a RomGore, a combination of romantic story with gory scenes, something probably not purposely done yet in Philippine cinema. It's a break from the norm and aside from the excellent story, Ryza is setting out to be extremely daring in this film. It's definitely something that she's never done before. Add to that the thought of being pitted against Nora Aunor and Jacklyn Jose in this same festival, it adds pressure to what she's going through.

Director Prime Cruz says "It's been a long time since we've thought of doing a concept with a Manananggal (A mythical creature from Philippine folklore, a lady turns into a monster, then flies like a bat with only half of it's body), and with the help of our mentors. It's a story about a mythical creature who fell in love with a human. We had problems doing it in the city and we got real scenarios from problems now and put it in the film. The basic mythology is there, you see her in half, but how we presented her from other films is another idea, she's sensual, she's pretty to begin with and it's her point of view rather than the community. If you watch this, I hope people see horrific things and how society perceives that it can be a weapon. We do have controversial things and you'll see that in the film and question yourself about what's good and bad. RomGore, it's romantic but we added gore so it's really different to begin with."

Ryza begins telling us "I feel really so emotional because I prayed to get this role, and I could relate to Jewel that time when I auditioned. Thank you to my Directors. There are a lot of firsts in this movie and I hope you watch those sensitive scenes. It's totally different from what I do in TV because I veered away and took risks. I was auditioned for the friend of Jewel but I really wanted to do her role. I cried a lot before the filming so they won't see me half heartedly doing the scenes. *Sighs*, I was supposed to do sexy scenes in the past but I was more afraid about swimming in another film called Intoy, I'm a little old (laughs it off) and if I'm going to do this I better do it now."

"Jewel is not an ordinary friend, her character is so near to my persona because I'm a bit of a loner, but really sincere when in a relationship. She's a hero and you would see how she fights for friendships, for love and get revenge versus men who cheat."

"I felt bad when I saw that comment about pirating the film, that fan was already asking to do that and the film wasn't even showing yet and I had to tell him so he wouldn't think it's okay or a normal thing. You have to draw the line and if it looks like I need to answer them myself, I would."

"The thought of being in the same category as with Ms. Nora Aunor and Ms. Jacklyn Jose was always being reminded everytime we had a shoot. I'm pressured, but I'm using it as motivation. I'm already claiming it because you'll see how different I am going to be here. Jewel is not a vigilante, she's struggling between being a monster and human."

"Martin is so good in this film and I've worked with him a couple of times when he arrived in GMA. I was afraid to do some of the scenes but for Martin, it was not that needed in bed scenes because he was the one "I loved". So he's important in how you see Jewel's character in the movie."

The film "Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23 B" will be shown on select theaters in Quezon City starting October 15, up until October 23. The awards night will be on October 19, at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.

She's also going to interact with fans and get to answer some of the toughest questions. Alden Richards Receives Diamond Record Award, Launches "Say It Again"Album

It was a fun evening to meet the man of the hour Alden Richards. He's been very blessed and he just recently got news that his album "Wish I May" under GMA Records just reached the 9th and 10th Platinum award which means he's reached the Diamond Record Award status in just less than a year after this was released. It's a feat that only a few artists have been able to reach and the young hearthrob recognizes his throngs of fans, the AlDub Nation, and even those who don't belong to these clubs as the ones who made this a reality.

During the recent launch of his second album called "Say It Again" at Market!Market! he was able to spend a couple minutes to thank everyone who helped him to get where he was today. GMA Records also started the show by showcasing the roster of their talents starting with good looking OZ HK crooner James Wright, who was so good by the way! And also T.O.P. (TOP One Project) which made the fans scream even more before Alden came out to sing for everyone that evening. I noticed they've really improved over the past few months and got this dancing and singing numbers to a T. They have some really great dance songs too which have also impressed their fans in the event that evening.

Alden has achieved so much in a short time but what I love about him is that he stayed so humble and saw to it that he still would be able to personally thank everyone who helped him get that far. I was too shy to approach him earlier because I knew these big events would make him so busy but he went out of his way to shake my hand and say thanks. I know, it probably would have freaked some people out but for me, seeing him do those little things are very admirable. He doesn't put fame into his head, also does a lot of charity work on the side and stayed family centric even if he's working so hard these past few years.

After the chaotic show, I saw how Alden was after he got surprised by his family and grandfather who sat in the front row. He was a little emotional too because his Grandpa was crying seeing him on stage, so he had to stop a couple of times while singing just to tell gramps not to cry, it was so heartwarming.

You'll also be seeing (online and offline) in a couple of days the new music lyric video they made for one of the songs in the album. Alden even had a couple of dance songs in the mix and it seems he's trying to do genres aside from ballads.

Make sure you support Alden Richards too by purchasing the album through online streaming sites, or grab the physical copies through leading record bars nationwide! I'd like to take this bit to thank GMA Records, GMA Social Media for having us. Thank you also Alden for still being so nice and humble as always. I'm sure you'll sell these lovely albums like hotcakes!
