Paulo Avelino for "I'm Drunk, I Love You!"

Tuesday, February 07, 2017

"This is not Heneral Luna, or Sunday Beauty Queen, but if this will be shown on Cinemas, you'll be surprised. We are also featuring Jimmy Bondoc, Parokya Ni Edgar, some spoken word artists. Myx gave us a premier yesterday and you'll also love LLOYDY which is a cover done done by Paulo Avelino himself. This was conceptualized through a drinking session. A lady here once said those exact words, and we asked permission. The hardest to shoot were the car scenes, and we all have bumpy roads. We also used an old car and La Union weather was crazy. We never want to be compared because the plot might be common but we attacked it differently. It's a bestfriend being in love with their bestfriend but this is entirely different from the usual romcom. LLOYDY was genius when I heard the original from my orgmate and I wanted to use it in a song. I also wanted to do it with him, and Maja was good enough to tell John Lloyd Cruz about what we were trying to do. We are also trying to experiment about the ending because it may or may not be them ending up together. It's my first full length film and I want something that would instill something funny even if it isn't, and something that would make you think. We also write scripts that would happen NOW, using songs and artists that a millennial would like." says Director JP Habac.

Paulo Avelino added "I just recommended Maja and they had her here. Aside from her being a really great actress, I haven't really worked with her on the big screen. I just really wanted to do it here because it's different on TV. Here it's more natural, not enhanced, it's as organic as it gets. Sensual, nothing more than that. We're rated PG. Dio is a frustrated film maker and he's in a dilemma to pursue directing or continue to study. This is a road trip to settle all their problems. Maja and I have songs in the film, we also have a duet, it's like passion and we get free beer in the process. This isn't my first time to portray a character like this but the story is different and I'm singing different songs, all OPM and we put importance in that. John Lloyd is so cool, it was fast and we just did a cover of that. We all look for people who would tell us they love us, whether it's a friendly thing or romantic it's a good feeling. I do films not because they are acting pieces, but this is vital to the script to be there. I just want to be the one who does something new."

I am so glad that there are films like these and do things that have passion, the concept is there and TBA made it real. It's nice to have a venue to let them do it with how they want to do it.

This film will be shown on February 15 and it's something new for the Filipinos. They deserve the best and it doesn't matter if there are gigantic companies that would be on the same play date. They will however have a 20 minute pre-movie that will connect Heneral Luna to Goyong so if you are a fan of that series, you should not miss this movie from TBA Entertainment.

Jollibee Celebrates The Joy of Love

Last night, well loved Filipino brand JOLLIBEE had some media people and bloggers in Ayala the 30th to watch #KwentongJollibee. It's some online short stories depicting Filipino life which they also released same time last year. It's material that is only released online and they've already garnered millions of views because it truly touched the lives of Filipinos here and around the world. This year, they have 3 offerings called VOW, DATE and CRUSH. 3 kinds of LOVE that would be able to connect us as people, and just about anyone who have had a relationship. Be it family, or romance, they got that taken cared of.

The story of VOW actually happened to me. I could also add another volume to that story, anyway you should watch it on February 9 5PM for the VOW, February 10 5PM for DATE and February 11 3PM for CRUSH at their Facebook page and Jollibee social media channels. I'm sure some of you will be moved to tears, some of you will really relate. Like I did.

SHOPEE Does Free Shipping and Cash On Delivery

Monday, February 06, 2017

Good news for shoppers and sellers as mobile app and platform Shopee celebrates the Year of the Fire Rooster wirh FREE SHIPPING and introduces CASH ON DELIVERY nationwide!

Shopee has been in the country for about a year now and they currently take advantage of shipping through their partners LBC, Black Arrow Express and Zoom Courier. They have all gone to different places in the country to introduce their app from Pampanga, Baguio, (and other cities) to down South in Mindanao. They have been working with online payment systems but there must have been a BIG clamor for COD payments as people in the Philippines don't usually transact online and pay through cash and sometimes see the need to meet up. Now they can just relax at home and pay for it when the delivery guy arrives. That's so convenient!

If you are an interested seller, you may upload photos and your products description. Someone from the courier will pick it up and deliver the item to the buyer, you can also get rated on the app so make sure you reply appropriately so customers would gladly rate you 5 stars.

After teaching us a couple of tricks for the Lunar New Year festivities, it's nice to know how much they value connections. This FREE SHIPPING and COD transactions give shoppers a whole lot pf options and savings when you use the shopee app. I am trying the service right now and am even going through replacement. I'll tell you how it goes soon.

Update: they got the device replaced the next business day and didn't get mad even if I was asking so much for updates. Thanks GeekDeals on Shopee!

EPSON x John Herrera: The AGILA Collection

I have seen his work a few years ago and it's been a while since I have seem him do a show in Manila. John Herrera has taken the world by storm by winning London Emerging Designer Awards back in 2015. He's known for his very detailed workmanship, drama, couture and travel inspired collections in the past and the award has paved the way and gave a lot of opportunities for the Filipino designer.

He's gone to the limits, even the fine line of proper designed garments and textures which he finds interesting so he goes the mile to include it in his pieces. This time however, he worked with world renowned printer brand EPSON to create his new collection called AGILA (The Philippine Eagle), a mix of art and technology, a feat which he found very challenging. He's up for it though (judging from his reaction during the short interview in Shangri-la Plaza) and even though this process would mean printing his own fabrics, he trusted the people who made his vision into reality (graphic design and Photoshop included), and of course the lovely EPSON Sure Color F-series (which are dye sublimation digital textile printers) namely the Sure Color SC F9270 and the SC 6270.

Sure Color SC F9270 (top) and the SC 6270 (bottom)

These printers are designed for industrial level roll production. So imagine how you would be able to print your designs in fabric, the possibilities are endless! For designers, fashion enthusiasts and those who would like to have their original work make into an excellent outfit that your clients would be proud of to wear. This definitely will make prints that could get your images in the forefront of fashion, isn't that what people want in the first place?

I particularly like the hoodie coat that Mark McMahon wore during the press preview. It's edgy, the print was intricately detailed and quite uncommon. It's very neo-Japanese but still got that persona of the Philippine Monkey Eating Eagle done in feathers, actual bird images and colors in white shiny fabric. I also like the light quilting on some of the pieces (the jackets, the kimonos, don't get me started!), the bias cut skirts which he had later on in the show, the flowy printed scarf dress,  Oh and if you're already impressed with the output, this is actually the first time he's done this. That right there is pushing the envelope and the 30 piece collection done that night was equally stunning!

Here's photos from his IG account, credits to their house photographer:

I think the AGILA collection will also be shown in London a couple of weeks from now. Who would have known that a printer could do this right? I'm very impressed, just wished I brought my camera on the runway show though, perhaps next time! Thank you for the opportunity to cover your event EPSON Philippines! This is really unbelievable!
