Century City Mall is Now Pet Friendly

Saturday, April 22, 2017

It's a wondeful day to see super cute pets at Century City Mall in Makati. Today they're holding a Philippine Canine Club Inc. event at the top floor of the mall for all dog enthusiasts, even from the Asia Pacific region to see who's the best in show. They have separate categories according to the dog's breed and I don't even know where to look because they are all so beautiful!

The mall also has pet access registration going on available every Tuesdays, Friday-Saturday. But you can always go to http://centurycitymall.com.ph/ if you want to have them registered early on. Now the rules are simple, you can take your pets anywhere except the cinemas and there are specific stickers which you can find in their stores to know if they are allowed fully or in just certain areas.

As a responsible pet owner, you should also have them in diapers, on top of paper or plastic when they are dining, and of course you should have a way to pick up after your dog, that's a must!

It's going to be a regular thing now and they're still in the works of having a few buildings nearby to house condominium units and a supposed Asian Breast Center that's got state of the art facilities for your medical needs soon! They are part of Century Properties, so there's really nowhere to go but up!

Brillante Mendoza Presents: Pagtatapos

Friday, April 21, 2017

A few days ago, we had the chance to watch the next movie made for TV made by brilliant Cannes Film Festival Awardee Brillante Mendoza (oh yes I said that!). This is part of the program Brillante Mendoza Presents shown o TV5 wherein they already released Tsinoy and Everlastig to coincide with the celebration of Chinese New Year and Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City both of which they've utilized lesser known actors. They did this to concentrate more on the story than the personalities and I think it's a good thing.

According to TV5's CEO, "It's not planned to go to festivals or make awards, we just have to be different and be an alternative. We took courage to embark on this and support Direk to do his best work. The first two, it hasn't been much into the taste yet but there is a reason to this partnership. 12 made for tv movies, we are working on a one year relationship. We want to be the home of different kind of producers, directors abd story tellers. The reality in todays medium is that we have to consider the entire journey of the content, the plan is to put this on video on demand directors cuts which we can show on digital content. Direk is working on the talents and there is room for good stories which we hopefully will bring. We are finding ways to bring you quality ones even on a limited depth of talent and hopefully develop more talents in the future as this is a transition, it's a business decision." - Coach Chot Reyes of TV5

"We do have professional and non professional actors and hopefully it will be shown internationally. We have our people go out and make location based movies made for tv and we have a process in place. This is an alternative, a film is a film, and we concentrate mostly on content rather than personalities. Like what I said in past interviews, they got me a go signal to have creative freedom and TV5 gave me that. We do need sponsors and ratings to survive but they got the challenge and didn't ask me to compromise. I don't think I had to lower the quality, and it will find it's audience. A story is a story, if I make a good story then that's where I'll give my all. On the business side, we have a unique budget, a bulk figure then just work with that in these movies made for TV. Everytime it's a different experience as we include the locals. I do realism, they say it's ultra neo realism but I did a different style in Japan which I plan to do also in my next projects.  You should watch out for that."- Direk Brillante Mendoza

Brillante Mendoza Presents: Pagtatapos will be showing this coming April 22, 2017 at 9:30PM. There will be a couple more in the coming months and these works of art will be available to people pretty soon on digital streaming services worldwide so you better get in the habit.

GMA's "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko" (My Grandma Is Better Than You)

I've always had high regards to story lines that include grandmas. As someone who had experienced the love of my grandma, I always reminisce how she would always make time telling stories about history, the war torn years in the Philippines and what they did to survive. When I was a kid, she told me a bunch of stories that included mythical creatures, fables, commonly seen in English literature which made my interest flourish during those days and kept me love the language even more. I haven't really touched Philippine folklore (or fantasy) or anything like it aside from the ones I've learned in school, so this new program from GMA would definitely change the way Filipino kids, and not so kids alike to know more about it today.

Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko stars the grand dame of Philippine Cinema Ms. Gloria Romero (who plays Lola Goreng), childstars Jillian Ward (who plays Alice), David Remo (who plays Elvis), Chlaui Malayao (who plays Moira) and Julius Miguel (who plays Jorell). They'll be part of the cast who will tell the story and of course, tell you about the lessons you can learn with every episode. This will be part of GMA Sunday Grande Sa Gabe (at night).

Ms. Gloria Romero says "I'm glad to have been gotten to play this role, who would have thought that at this age I'd play a fairy right? This is very light, very cute and I'm really enjoying it! The kids that I'm with in this project are super good so I do have to come prepared to the set because they already know their lines."

Jillian Ward adds "I really love how Ms. Gloria shares her stories and you can really pickup a lot of lessons when she takes time to talk to us in between takes. You would eagerly want to do good in your work after having conversations with her."

This pilot week, they will have Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera guesting on their show. It starts this Sunday on GMA's evening primetime block. Get the updates about this show on Facebook.com/GMANetwork and www.gmanetwork.com today!

The 69th MLQU Commencement Exercises

Being a proud QC native, being born and raised here has it's perks. You get to witness history unfold as institutions like Manuel L. Quezon University roll out their 69th Commencement Excercises. Criminal Justice, Law, Architecture and Graduate Studies, they've got it all. As former Speaker Sonny Belmonte puts it, they've just started to be "inspired" to be better, even surpass the people who have graduated in the same institution who have made the university and the country proud.

Former Speaker Sonny Belmonte was also given an honorary degree of Doctors in Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by MLQU. Then they started calling them one by one on stage to accept their diplomas.

It was a little nostalgic, I could almost feel like it was my own graduation. The parents were all teary eyed seeing the accomplishments of their kids, some spouses too, as they have endured years of education in the lovely new MLQU School along EDSA. Honestly, I could see that most of these guys are either from middle class to low income families but they're very determined to see them all graduate no matter what the odds are. I was actually surprised how these guys and gals came from different parts of the country. It was also nice to see Speaker Sonny Belmonte (my own Congressman) being conferred honors by University Chairman Dr. Jose Rizalino Acuzar and University President Dr. Isagani G. Germar. I've seen how he's worked so hard not just for our district and city but also the country. There are tons of Justices, Lawyers (and board topnotchers), Architects, Business People and professionals have graduated from MLQU and they're actively growing in numbers. They are not just going to be making a name for their alma mater, but prolly the country as they'll be the leaders next in line as every MLQU Graduate should be.

That just kept me thinking about getting graduate studies myself since I live very near their new campus. Congratulations graduates! Congratulations to MLQU too for honing these  youngsters, they're raring to go and work now!
