Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Have you ever gone to Marinduque? Have you guys ever heard of the Moriones Festival? That's where we'll actually be in this installment of Brillante Mendoza Presents: PANATA.

The Festival's name is the namesake of Morion or the Roman Soldier's helmet which locals wear to scare kids and depict the life of Saint Longinus - a roman centurion. The festival also showcase real life people whipping themselves as a form of atonement for their sins held from Holy Monday to Easter Sunday every year. The festival is also a way of thanksgiving of fishermen in the province.

The lead male actor plays Mario, a mask maker for the festival. He believes in the cause of local rebels and believes in their cause, but his chhildhood friend talks to him... and perhaps changes his mind and goes through the different facets of his life. He questions his ideologies, and perhaps after that he can make decisions. This is directed by the brillant Brillante Mendoza. If you would want to watch it, tune in to TV5 this month of May and  June on all its Saturday weekends.

Always watch something different on the happiest network in the country, TV5!

Bel-Air Village Will Do "Retrospective" Show on their 60th Year!

Everybody knows whay Bel-Air Village entails, aside from the rich and famous, the who's who in Manila, they've housed some of the most creative people in the fields of art, design, literature, interior design and a whole lot more. Aside from that, some of their noted residents include the Dean of Philippine Fashion "Mang Ben" Ben Farrales and the Founder and CEO of online retail giant Zalora Mr. Paolo Campos. They will be including a full pledged fashion show during Bel-Air's 60th (Diamond) Anniversary called "RETROSPECTIVE" at the Solar Street Park in Bel-Air 3. This coincides with the PASINAYA 2017 celebration which will run from May 26, 27 and 28, 2017.

The Pasinaya is a yearly celebration in their community which was started by Barangay Chairman Nene Lichauco. They want to have their Diamond Anniversary to be big and everyone from their village wanted to signify the strength of this precious gem, the shine that comes from the people who live here so they all got together for the most awaited fiesta in Makati. The homeowners, tenants, helpers and drivers all step into the community for camaraderie, to remember the village like no other. When it was conceptualized, they got the Captain Antonio O'Brien (husband of Paraluman) to suggest a name for the Barangay and the only catch was to have the word AIR on it since they had mostly pilots of Philippine Airlines in the village, hence the name Bel-Air. Now they have been holding huge shows and this fashion show won't dissappoint you as I have seen Ben Farrales' show in the past especially during Philippine Fashion Week. You'll definitely see Filipiniana, fabulous weaving from Mindanao communities and also a great lineup from Fashion Retail Giant Zalora.com.

Mr. Camus of the Bel-Air Board of Governors says "When the Pasinaya was a Flores De Mayo celebration in the 60's, it wasn't like this and they know you'll love to see how times have changed and how to successfuly maintain the relationships in this dynamic neighborhood, whether old or new residents, you'll always feel like you belong. This is a family centered community and they will continue to value this all throughout the years."

I wanna go to Bel-Air and visit my relatives here. Or maybe I could visit the Barangay Captain Nene Licauco's house since she offered LOL. Can't wait to see the show! They also say that the village will be open on these dates, just sign up with the guards on all gates. Come and see them perform too!

Fashion, Style and Music at the Manila X Festival

Ever had that event where you've got it all and more? Well that's about to happen at Manila X 2017 this coming May 27th at the Circuit Event Grounds in Makati. We had a taste of the event a few weeks ago in Ibiza BGC when they unveiled the performers for the show. They also had Kiana Valenciano perform with a local rapper, I was actually super impressed about how she's become a great female artist too, she's probably done years honing this craft and it's really bearing fruit.

The concert will be headlined by Australian phenom William Singe who did countless Youtube and Facebook videos, garnering millions of views worldwide. They will be joined by Filipino Rock Icon Bamboo, the powerful and passionate singer KZ Tandingan, Asian Pop idol Sam Concepcion, plus artists like CurtisSmith, Jess Connely, Saydie, The Juans, Tukar Sinati, A Team, Carlo Attendido, Patti Tiu, Ron Poe and Tom Taus!

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

I'm sure just like me, there are tons of you out there who love the Hawaiian Pizza. But Greenwch simply does it better because apart from the well loved super thin crust, you'll equally love the toppings because they serve it like no other. Hence, the name Hawaiian Overlaoad!

Today, they also turned the Greenwich Bonifacio Stopover branch into a full Hawaiian Hangout complete with a welcome lay that's too colorful it turns my commonly depressed face into a happy one today. Hahaha!

I also had the chance to have really great starters like this Pizza Flavored Fries and the sweet and tangy Berry Slush, perfect for the hot weather! Then for the mains, we had lovely Lasagna and oh so crunchy Fried Chicken! OMG!

Kit Ang of Greenwich's Pizza division says "We're more than the usual Hawaiian Pizza, ours is the best tasting pizza and even had blind tests where we topped the ranks. You too shall partake in the party as we join you to taste our Greenwich Hawaiian Overload!"

Now we're here specifically for the controversial pizza flavor. You see, it's not actually conmon to see em elsewhere but our love for the variety of sweet, salty, cheesy, just isn't gonna leave the Filipino palate and that's why on May 19 (the official Pizza Party Day) they are hilighting the best tasting pizza! You can order the Hawaiian Overload Pizza through 55555 and have it on your own homes, it's that easy!
