Glaiza De Castro for KUN[G]DIMAN at the Music Museum

Saturday, September 23, 2017

Having been able to see Glaiza De Castro grow as an artist these past few years has really been able to make me feel safe, a bit optimistic that there is a future for OPM. Not that I've lost hope, but I'm just so happy to see someone at this day and age to actually affect me, make me see, make me feel her passion. She's nothing short of a phenomenon on TV doing tons of different roles, GMA has taken care of her career but she's not just taking her off time lightly. Singing has been her first love, always have been, always will be. When I began seeing her on different stages, performing with bands, I could see how her face just lights up. When I talk to her, you could see her emotions, genuine and undoubtedly depict her stories as if she's on cloud nine. It's as if she was telling a very sad love story, but she was sparkling at the same time.

This talented and amazing performer showed us a sample of what she could do in her upcoming concert at the Music Museum this coming October 27 at 8PM. Other than excitement during the short program, I was listening to her sing while not looking at her. I know it would have been really distracting to look at her pretty face, I think I got what I wanted. She's matured so fast in just a couple of years, even if I missed some of her presscons and blogcons, seeing her perform in a different level this day had me asking, are they doing a good job managing such a talented artist? I think her music should be more out there... honestly, I began thinking she's extremely underrated. Her songs definitely should reach a wider audience, those who would appreciate it more because she deserves it. I felt tired just seeing her efforts taking her Synthesis album a couple months back, but she's here putting out another set of songs, people, don't stop her.

About how this all began Glaiza shared "I was called into their office (Polyeast Records) and they told me that it would be a good thing to have a concert together with this album. Doing a play on the word KUNDIMAN (kungDman), we will be doing covers of great legendary OPM artists. In the concert, we will have several guests and we already confirmed Mike Hanopol which I don't know if I'm going to be excited or floored because it's so monumental. It's not going to be all original songs, I'll be also doing a special number. Some of which I'll be doing with Gloc9."

She also was asked about her time dedicated to her work in GMA and this singing habit, she explained "I think I do have following in both music and acting. It helps that I have both, it just happened and there are a lot of opportunities. It would have been good to just have it in garage band but I had the right people to help me at the right time. It was chop suey, but there were people who pushed me to concentrate on it. It helped that my fans see me on tv and then get interested in what I listen to. They now know who I am through my music."

I think we do. See more of her in these photos.

So remember, watch her upcoming concert at the Music Museum this coming October 27 at 8PM. If you love her, show her you do. Be at the gate early or purchase tickets at PolyEast Records office 3/F Universal Tower, 1487 Quezon Avenue, QC during office hours.

I see. Dreams never end.

"The Debutantes" Starring Regal's IT Girls

This October seems to be a nice month to be frightened. This is why Regal Films is not holding back a few days before Holloween in this funny horror film called THE DEBUTANTES. It stars current IT GIRLS Sue Ramirez, Miles Ocampo, Michelle Vito, Jane De Leon, Channel Morales and hunky Paolo Gumabao. If you see, it's stars are topbilled by real millenials and in a sense will revolve around Kate (played by Sue) who is just like any school girl, wanting to make friends and belong to a group.

That doesn't seem to work so only a few got in her groove and started to bully her silly all throughout the movie. Once she had a nightmare, she warned them about the bad things that happened but they didn't listen. They suddenly have mishaps along the way, is this karma? Oh no!

During the blogcon they shared their own stories of bullying because aside from the fact that it is the theme of this film, they all had their share of bullying too. Miles, Michelle and Jane had their projects destroyed by jealous classmates, they also said mean things about them physically. Their advise is to ignore them because bullying really happense because there are insecurities, which also needs an audience so they could look good by making you feel bad.

Miles added "I am still studying in UP but I am doing something big, but I'm not in a hurry really. I am not here for the fame, but for the longevity, because I am quite contented with the projects I have today. This is also my first time in Regal and I am so glad to have been able to do this because I was really excited about it during the story con."

Prime Cruz added "We have graphics, but we are doing a different treatment on this one, more neon lights, bright scenes and not necessarily like Manananggal my previous film. It's younger looking as this suits the millenials and we like to present it that way."

Jane quipped "I like this because it is my first horror film, and I get to experience how it is to be a mean girl, something that I don't like in real life."

Paolo Gumabao says "I spent a long time  in Taiwan studying but got bullied there because I was Filipino, from gradeschool to highschool it was difficult. They all laughed at me when I told them that my dream was to be a movie star, and look at me now! This age is when we are about to get matured, formation, and you get to be more serious about love."

The film will show on October 4, 2017 and if you're not doing anything that day, might as well watch it and see what a bunch of millenials could do. This is done by Idea First Company and produced Regal Films.

Good Food Need Not Be Expensive

Friday, September 22, 2017

Do you often go out for lunch or dinner while working and spend so much money for it? I guess it's time to put a stop to that because it certainly isn't a smart thing to do if you are working just paycheck to paycheck. Eh? That's not right. No, you don't have to call on the whole team and run for your lives using a robot. Exhibit A:

Well, what's  a better idea than to actually face the problem head on. Get your gears going and never skip a meal because Jollibee has them all. Have you bought JolliSavers meal? It saved me a ton because it only costs Php 50 for a Burger Steak. Imagine my joy to have that with a 100% beef patty, smothered with mushroom gravy and a cup of white rice. The same goes for the Jolly Spaghetti, made even meatier with slices of ham, ground beef and hotdogs... then topped with cheese. They also have Jollibee's YUM Burger, affordable for only Php 30 so how can we not be full after that meal?

See? It doesn't have to be expensive because there's always a hot, satisfying meal at the lovable Jollibee store near you. Really, good food need not be expensive no?

Ascof Lagundi Showcases ‘Biyenan’ A Family Story Online

You've always seen them be portrayed on Philippine cinema as the main antagonist, mean, and puts most of the husbands and wives in situations often left not discussed over family dinners. Being a very matriarchal country, we often see the "In-laws" as not so good news and it does happen in real life. Albeit controversial to be a topic, Ascof Lagundi takes this to a short film directed by prolific film maker Chris Cahilig who won awards for ECHORSIS a few weeks ago. This film is called BIYENAN, a film that talks about two women of different generations, raising kids, our family culture and our boundaries.

Being a matriarchal nation, we take respect to another level with our Grandmas. It's even common here to live with them sometimes and that takes a lot. They do have a say with raising children, as they ultimately have their safety in mind. You should find out how these women Jenny and Marita clash inside their home, to see if spoiling the kids or disciplining them would provide conflict. It is played by Dalin Sarmiento and veteran actress Lui Manansala.

How far should one go to do something about raising their children? When does it get overboard? Is it the right thing to do? How would your kids feel? When do you tell them to stop? When do you start to reconnect and respect each other?

Biyenan” would make you answer those questions and realize, that in some way, you are actually doing the same thing. You have the kids in mind and you only know what's best for them. Their health would get Ascof Lagundi in the mix, and perhaps make them know how to take good care of them when they've got cough related concerns and fix it in a jiffy.

Ascof Lagundi has helped countless Filipinos with their cough remedy. It's one of the safest way to relieve cough and bronchial asthma and “Biyenan” showcases that too. You may watch the full version of the short film at the Ascof Lagundi Facebook page. Or maybe, you can watch the embedded video below.
