GMA and HOOQ Executives signs shows on the app

GMA has produced shows that have been moving, earth shaking and really out of the box. Suffice to say this has also been heavily watched in the HOOQ app so there’s nothing more apt to do than to renew this partnership so HOOQ streamers would get the best Philippine entertainment could give this 2018.

Contessa stars Glaiza De Castro

Aside from the top rating shows and series that have already ended, they will also show the epic Victor Magtanggol and other shows 24 hours after it has been shown on digital TV, so in a sense you will not miss anything if you’re a fan of these series. Hit shows like Contessa starting gorgeous Glaiza De Castro will also be shown for those who would want a taste of drama and action.

More shows coming on the HOOQ App

HOOQ Executives have always regarded GMA as a station that is giving what viewers want. The titles that have been there have easily been top rated including “Inday Will Always Love You, Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka, Meant To Be, My Korean Jagiya, Encantadia, Mulawin VS Ravena, My Husbands Lover” and more.

GMA New Media Inc Executive Judd Gallares says “We have been partners since 2015 and we are very pleased to renew this partnership. We are looking for a long rewarding one in the years ahead!”.

Make sure you download the HOOQ App on iOS and Android via the App Store and Google Play Store so you can watch these shows anywhere, anytime of the day! Just search HOOQ and it’ll get you there.

Watch Chito Roño’s Signal Rock

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Watching this R18 film Signal Rock on Pista ng Pelikula season was nice, it felt good. It’s a bit dragging on some parts but essential to build up certain highlights of the film. It’s sad, but has some funny parts, implicating real life.

The premise is real, some parts of the country have no signal, especially the islands (we have 7,107 islands anyway). Christian Bables plays a young lad from the province, who just like people you and I know have relatives who work overseas. Custom sometimes dictates they (in his case his sister) need to send money back home so they too could live comfortably, or at least survive in a place with measly income, mostly no work, but the plot is, they can only call and talk to her in one place, that thing they call Signal Rock. Bables who plays Intoy only uses an old 5110 phone with an antenna that has a fork latched to it.

Intoy lives in a small community, where everyone knows everyone. The place wreaks of an old school provincial setup, like dancing in the plaza, usual brawls. Somewhere there’s a love story there too. His sister gets in trouble, domestic violence, can’t even go home or get help either. Poor as a rat he’s as helpless to even ask for help, and even he knows all the women in his island only go work in far places so they could trip on some old joe and get married to get out of poverty. Conflict then starts when he’s set to prove their financial ability to take care of the kid and his sister.

I don’t want to spoil things for you but this talks about what happens to Filipinos and if their lives caught up in a cycle of poverty, how they think of ways to get out of it. It also talks of the struggles keeping relationships, the ones that break, plus the ones that still feels human. It’s a treat to see an easy film during PPP, in a way this does that.

Please note of the performance of Joel Saracho, he should get a supporting role award.

This is Chito Roño’s film, distributed by Regal Films. I applaud Christian Bables’ portrayal, but is this enough to get him a best actor role? You must find out for yourself and watch this during Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino slated August 15 - 22, 2018. Everything must have a good ending, this has got one, I guess.

There is a lack of superstar artists in this film but the cast surely made up for it.

Direk Chito Roño said after the screening “I hope our little sacrifice would at least make you willing to spread the word about our film, after the movies I had in the past, I now learned to distribute the movie well now especially with Regal. Thank you for the help Roselle Monteverde.”

Christian Bables also went in front after the screening and said “I hope you help us with this film, you have seen how much hardships we have had in making this film. I hope you ask your relatives in the province to ask for this be shown in movie theatres even after the festival. Thank you!”

There must be a subliminal message here, they must have been sponsored by Nokia, watch the movie and see why.

Say Hi To CHANG AI EXPRESS

Tuesday, August 14, 2018

Ms. Aiai Delas Alas for the new Chang Ai Express

We had a short luncheon with Comedy Queen Aiai Delas Alas about the new branding they did with Chang Ai Express “I felt Ai Sarap Express was a little too old so we changed the menu and now we call it Chang Ai Express. Some people have been complaining also that they go to another place in ABSCBN. It’s now going to be known as this so they will find it in Esguerra easily. In 2005, I had a Chinese partner with Ai Charap and I find Chinese food really apt for my taste. I will also put up a restaurant soon in Ayala Malls, I am thinking of an Asian fusion themed restaurant and perhaps I’ll do it with other Asian flavors in other restaurants that I plan to do soon. I may do another branch of Chang Ai Express. I need to do a lot in one day, I don’t stand around even when I am home so I have been doing this for Sancho. I also enjoy seeing people, entertaining them sometimes when I am here. I will put up more restaurants soon, so that is exciting.”

About the recent noise in The Clash “I know it’s a hard job to judge but for my bashers, do know that song choice is a thing that they should consider when joining the show. They also need to know rap still has to be clear and be understood by people. I have been a judge in so many shows, but do know how hard it is to make a decision, we need to do that even if it is hard. I have heard a lot of things, seen angry people but I acknowledge what they feel for their bets and relatives, I am the judge though so we all have to make that decision.

Chefs Sancho Vito Delas Alas and Ren Tuito

Ms Ai also said her piece about the Best Actress award for Cinemalaya and says “I always make sure the roles I choose are good especially in Indie films. I choose also what I do because if it’s too physically challenging I have to think twice. I wasn’t really expecting the award, Sancho asked me while I was in the Clash judges table, I cried when I heard about it. I don’t know what made me win but I think the character is profound, and I thank the jury of Cinemalaya for taking notice. I praise God for that. I wasn’t able to attend the awards ceremony because I had taping for Sunday Pinasaya, I was okay with whatever he could give me even if I was against Glaiza who did so well in Liway and I knew she was the favorite, I am thankful for the award.
