Anne Curtis for AURORA this MMFF

Friday, December 07, 2018

Here at the AURORA Press Conference with bubbly Anne Curtis and her director acclaimed Yam Laranas.

Anne Curtis shares “This is so different from the genres I have done in the past, this one is called elevated horror. We hope you get to feel that in the movie. I love horror films and when they were shooting this I was asking why I wasn’t screaming. It was something different, that feeling is what we are banking on. There are a lot of theories and even if there will be twists, we are excited people are thinking about it. This time though you can bring the whole family because it is story driven. I am not really a believer in ghosts but there was one time I saw something I couldn’t explain, a white face out of nowhere. I really like the movie called “The Others” and also JAWS, the shark film. It gave me nightmares actually, a lot on my list. I am a bit pressured, but it is about the film really, you should see how amazing this film is. I want people to watch it not just because of me, but the quality of it. If you follow my character, it is a story of survival and you will ask yourself if I need a leading man, or other cast members, but my character is a strong woman. It was the most amazing 15 days of my life. This was a different experience, Batanes is so beautiful, quiet and peaceful. I got to know the locals, we ate with them, there are amazing people. We were blessed with beautiful weather, they planned when to shoot this and it is a rule that we had to finish within 12 hours. So it was east than the usual. I got stung by a box jellyfish before in Batangas but I didn’t do much diving or deep scenes here. Just enough. Well I do not do films just because of awards, I think that is just the cherry on top. I love seeing Erwan’s reaction, he makes his films and he appreciates the color grading.”

Direk Yam says “This was inspired by several real events, like the Dona Paz tragedy, the other ones, we are inspired by it but we have a different story based from that. When you have the support of the producers, you can do everything even with a limited budget. We got a two story house made, mixed with computer graphics and you wouldn’t figure out which is which. We also have a great cast that supported the story. Actually any story can be adapted to any language, but this doesn’t have to be Hollywood, but it is created for Filipinos and we plan to just put subtitles. It is a combination of a lot of tragic events, we had that experience and I like documentary films and so many of those stick to you. That is where we did the story from, after we wrote this I fixed the horror parts and nobody else can do this aside from Anne. We started talking to Viva and we just got lucky. Of all the things I wished for the movie, aside from creative freedom is Anne to win an award here. That is my biggest wish. I didn’t deny this was a horror movie but it is a thriller and parents can take their kids, like a ferris wheel ride, a rollercoaster, almost the same as that. PG is a blessing to us.”

Now make sure you do not miss watching this film on the 25th! This is an entry to the MMFF by the combined efforts of Viva and Aliud Entertainment.

JACK EM POY On Theaters December 25

Thursday, December 06, 2018

This is the season to be happy and today we are covering JACK AND POPOY THE PULISCREDIBLES starring the king of primetime Coco Martin, Comedy King Vic Sotto and the Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza.

Coco says “I wanted this project to be for the family. I was a little shy to do it because the previous attempt we did was a little hard to do and it didn’t push through. It has always been my dream to work with Bossing ever since, even before I have entered show business. I play Jack but it will be different from the one I play in Probinsyano. I wanted to do a story that will be bigger than Probinsyano, this is exciting and I learned a lot with the JoWaPao and our fight director is Lito Lapid. We want to show moral values, so kids can be proud to be policemen. You can feel how nervous I am when Vic Sotto is around, he is very quiet so I didn’t know what he’s thinking. He loves people, I know that. Maine on the other hand is so spontaneous, even if you don’t teach her, she knows how to do it. People love her because she is very simple, I hope this isn’t the last time they are going to work with me.”

Ryza Cenon plays Andrea who will be the antagonist for Maine’s character. Mark Lapid will be Vic Sotto’s buddy who is married to three different women. Tirso Cruz III adds “This is a complete movie, you will go out of theaters happy and contented because the project has been prepared quite well.”

Maine says “I play EM, Emmaly, Emmalou, an overprotective daughter that wants to prove her worth. Coco is very kind, he is very passionate, if he could do a scene again just so it would be perfect, he is going to go ahead and do it. He doesn’t want to do projects without putting everything in it. He wants to make a movie every Christmas to make sure the whole family would get to see it.”

Vic Sotto says “I was a little sad when the movie we tried to do in the past didn’t push through, he is a good actor and I was really excited to do that. Anyway I think it was a blessing that it happened now, it is our first team up, their fans alone will fill the movie houses to the brim and at last it already has happened. I am very proud of the film, action, comedy, drama, singing, you can take note of that and see it on the 25th. I love Coco ever since we got to meet, I knew why he is successful, he deserves it, because I have seen how hard working he is, how passionate he has become in his work. From scenes, dialogues, the friendship, he really loves everyone. I want him to run for office.”

For those who want to watch this movie, it will come out on Christmas day together with the other movies for MMFF. This will surely fill theaters up so put it on your list if you plan to do several screenings. The story is good, it’s family centric, it’s funny in some situations, their teamwork is amazing and it won’t be good if they didn’t work well, they did so do yourself a favor and watch it!

It’s Back! : Miss Teen Philippines 2019

Wednesday, December 05, 2018

Young girls dream to become beauty queens, role models and inspire people. Their thrust have always been so far to continue their cause to help generations of kids to get proper education, to speak to the youth and also inspire them so they could listen to their personal cause. This is the journey of Miss Teen Philippines.

It has been a few years since this has happened, the last of which was in 2014. Back then, it was so hard to actually stage a production and aside from economic difficulties, they just didn’t have enough sponsors. With the resurgence of interest in pageants in the country, that has been solved. Miss Teen Philippines also has partnered with local government agencies, the DSWD, DepEd and the National Youth Commission as they too will also help with some of these agencies initiatives.

As per Ms. Regine Angeles the Youth Empowerment Through Education Foundation Incorporated Director, they are looking for someone who is not just a pretty face, but leadership in promoting their cause so she too could be a role model for their peers. She also needs to have the vibe of the younger generation, she also has to be outgoing. Now there is another set of empowered ladies that will vie for the crown.

First Miss Teen Philippines winner Stephanie Sol now has her MBA in Business. She is also a former GMA artist.

They have to be 14 to 18, enrolled at school, and is a Filipino citizen. Yes they have adjusted the age a bit because of the gap between 13-18 which they did in the past. They will have to also pass small pageants in their own regions before they could go to Miss Teen Philippines, so there will have to be a lot to go through to get that crown. If you think it’s time to start your pageant journey, go to Facebook.com/missteenphilippinesofficial or send questions to inquiry@missteenphils.com.

Regional search will start December 15 in different provinces around the country. Follow their channels so you can make sure you can join.
