A Stellar GLAD Get Together

Monday, December 10, 2018

When I went to this event a few weeks ago I thought I was going to be alone appreciating the convenience of having GLAD in our household, but little do I know there were lots of housewives, cooks and socialites who live and breathe them in the kitchen to not only cook with them, but store food in an organized and appropriate manner.

The reason I enjoy using GLAD is to keep my food fresh even if I store them in the freezer because often times they get freezer burns, turn into a rock or spoiled fast because they are not in a good place or container, which GLAD has certainly addressed in kitchens around the world.

Go check out our adventures on this day!

To make people really feel the season of giving they went to Mercato Centrale to meet even more people who are also GLAD users plus they brought along celebrities like versatile character actress Dimples Romana. They also gave away FREE rice cakes, Bibingka and Putobungbong plus teach them tons of ways you could use GLAD products for the holidays.

They also taught us a few dishes at Pottery Barn in BGC and told us a few products that they’re using like the new Ovenware which you can take in and out of the oven, then be still presentable on the dinner table, I also use the Aluminum foil on roast so it doesn’t get burned when the cooking starts. The Glad Lock laden Soup and Salad container could also keep the nice broth they made, but it was gone in minutes. They also taught us you could use the Press’n Seal in the fridge so those other stuff you can’t fit in containers would easily be stored, kept without leaks without spending so much for it. It’s a lifesaver!

Thanks to Glad for having us and letting us feel the convenience, keep it all simple, and clean.

PCSO Helps Hold Free Screenings for Andi Eigenmann Starrer Film "The Maid in London"

Saturday, December 08, 2018

This looks so promising, I have heard this won a few awards including Best Actress for Andi Eigenmann at the International Film Festival in Manhattan a few months ago, plus a regular movie run this 2018. I'm glad that even the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is supporting it by holding Block Screenings for the benefit of those who missed it, senior citizens, womens groups and those who just adore films that depict family values. This is good news!

This film is directed by Danni Ugali and also tells the story of undocumented immigrants who only wanted to have the best life for their family, ultimately to fall prey to persons involved in human trafficking, work abuse and legal nightmares based on different historical events. Margo, Faye and Nido will be portrayed by Andi Eigenmann, Alexis Navarro and Joshua De Guzman as they unearth their stories as undocumented workers in London, one of the world's first class cities. The block screenings will be done in selected Robinsons MovieWorld cinemas like this Friday 7 December, 7pm at Cinema 9, Robinson's Galleria
Sunday 9 December, 1pm at Cinema 7, Robinson's Place Las Piñas, Tuesday 11 December, 1pm at Cinema 4, Robinsons Calasiao, Pangasinan.

The filmmaker would like to thank their sponsors Prego Jeans Ph, Ms Rhea Tan of Beautéderm Corporation, Mahlord Productions, Nonie Nicasio, Jude Cartalaba, Chester Gutierrez, Nomel Perez, Annie Magnabihon of Robinsons Cinema, Ms. Aki Galicia-Tsuji, Dr. Shirwel Dagasdas of Revisage Skin Care and Mr. Joel Pastores for all their help in making this film a reality.

This is all for FREE and you can't get anything better than that this holiday season!

Congratulations to the men and women of The Maid in London. I better watch this too.

Anne Curtis for AURORA this MMFF

Friday, December 07, 2018

Here at the AURORA Press Conference with bubbly Anne Curtis and her director acclaimed Yam Laranas.

Anne Curtis shares “This is so different from the genres I have done in the past, this one is called elevated horror. We hope you get to feel that in the movie. I love horror films and when they were shooting this I was asking why I wasn’t screaming. It was something different, that feeling is what we are banking on. There are a lot of theories and even if there will be twists, we are excited people are thinking about it. This time though you can bring the whole family because it is story driven. I am not really a believer in ghosts but there was one time I saw something I couldn’t explain, a white face out of nowhere. I really like the movie called “The Others” and also JAWS, the shark film. It gave me nightmares actually, a lot on my list. I am a bit pressured, but it is about the film really, you should see how amazing this film is. I want people to watch it not just because of me, but the quality of it. If you follow my character, it is a story of survival and you will ask yourself if I need a leading man, or other cast members, but my character is a strong woman. It was the most amazing 15 days of my life. This was a different experience, Batanes is so beautiful, quiet and peaceful. I got to know the locals, we ate with them, there are amazing people. We were blessed with beautiful weather, they planned when to shoot this and it is a rule that we had to finish within 12 hours. So it was east than the usual. I got stung by a box jellyfish before in Batangas but I didn’t do much diving or deep scenes here. Just enough. Well I do not do films just because of awards, I think that is just the cherry on top. I love seeing Erwan’s reaction, he makes his films and he appreciates the color grading.”

Direk Yam says “This was inspired by several real events, like the Dona Paz tragedy, the other ones, we are inspired by it but we have a different story based from that. When you have the support of the producers, you can do everything even with a limited budget. We got a two story house made, mixed with computer graphics and you wouldn’t figure out which is which. We also have a great cast that supported the story. Actually any story can be adapted to any language, but this doesn’t have to be Hollywood, but it is created for Filipinos and we plan to just put subtitles. It is a combination of a lot of tragic events, we had that experience and I like documentary films and so many of those stick to you. That is where we did the story from, after we wrote this I fixed the horror parts and nobody else can do this aside from Anne. We started talking to Viva and we just got lucky. Of all the things I wished for the movie, aside from creative freedom is Anne to win an award here. That is my biggest wish. I didn’t deny this was a horror movie but it is a thriller and parents can take their kids, like a ferris wheel ride, a rollercoaster, almost the same as that. PG is a blessing to us.”

Now make sure you do not miss watching this film on the 25th! This is an entry to the MMFF by the combined efforts of Viva and Aliud Entertainment.
