Ronnie Liang Takes Flight!

Friday, March 15, 2019

I’ve met Ronnie Liang a couple of times, the last one of which was during Elwood Perez’s Esoterika: Maynila. I was so surprised to see him in a different light, I’d mistake him for a KPOP star then if he didn’t speak Filipino. Today he’s wearing a different hat, he’s also got a pair of wings to go with it. He’s planning to become a licensed pilot, a dream that he’s been wanting to do for the longest time. Aside from the accolades and praises he’s been getting from his TV, Film and music career, no matter how it takes.

For those who don’t know, Ronnie came from very humble beginnings, but his father would always tell him how high his dreams were even when he was younger. He might have been rejected so many times, but he persevered and says “I believe God has always been good to me. I sometimes couldn’t believe how much I’ve been blessed. Even now that I am going to become a pilot. Prayers do really work!”

He adds “The training I got from Strike Wing Aviation in Pasay City is awesome. Every time I go there I learn something new, there are so many good people there who guide me, and I intently listen to them.”

Ronnie continues to balance his time as an actor, singer and soon as a pilot. He’s an achiever and it’s inspiring to see a person go live his dreams. By the way, he’s also part of action film MARIA starring Cristine Reyes under Viva Films. Make sure you watch that on the 27th of March. Meanwhile, he will also be part of Ghost Adventures on Sari-sari Channel on the 25th. He will also be with Sarah Geronimo on De La Salle Dasma and Baguio on the 18th. He is also planning to have a major concert within the year, so watch out for that too!

Ronnie extends his thanks to Viva for having him in so many projects all these years (7 to be exact). He wants to be Boss Vic’s personal pilot if they plan to get a plane soon.

Congratulations Ronnie!

Of Antioxidants and Great Skin

Thursday, March 14, 2019

I’ve been called names, bullied when I was a kid because of my skin color. You see, I go out a lot and play outdoors. It’s like second nature for me, where I could have fun with friends or sometimes, alone - and I don’t really mind.

My skin has had mishaps here and there, a slight bout with burns, the teenage laden with acne, but I always go back to the basics to heal them all with the nicest moisturizer I could ever find, drinking water inside and out. I don’t complain much nowadays because at this age (which we will fervently hold secret), my skin is still worry free, amazing compared to my compadres who either look like a sunbathed prune or an old hag (and we’re not even joking). I believe skin being the largest organ of the human body deserves much nourishment early on so you wouldn’t age as much, still look a whole lotta younger looking than what you really are in the Roman calendar. I’ve taken a whole alphabet worth of Vitamins and minerals from various sources. I even took antioxidant rich food and listened to experts say what’s good and not. I even resorted to taking SnowCaps because I saw how good Alden Richards look like on screen or even when I’m interviewing him. I envy people who glow even during daytime, and I think it’s the L-Glutathione content that makes this happen. Now don’t get me wrong, I love how brown I look sometimes but I feel a little more good looking if my Spanish blood shows a bit when I’m a bit lighter skinned. I also don’t have to deal with dark spots here and there (even on intimate areas), plus I feel it makes me sleep better - I haven’t had the usual headaches in the morning which more likely happens when I’m high blood (or not). If my day starts right, it’ll roll like an avalanche and get the rest of my work day, it becomes easy and I go around the metro for events, go back to my family then have fun all over again because I never feel uneasy. I take it once a day together with the other vitamins I take regularly and I still get complements til now I that I look like I’m still in my late 20’s. I take that as a complement of course.

If I get my antioxidants right and get this whitening thing as a side effect, why in the world should I not continue to do it right? I might have spent a whole month out of the country, visited local beaches here and there, but I never get tired either because I have small things in my pocket that can help me take things easy.

Good thing Snow Caps only cost Php 1,495 a box which has around 30 tablets. It is affordable and FDA approved, which says a ton about its safety. It’s available in leading drug stores and is manufactured by Vida Nutriscience. Now what’s stopping you from making yourself look younger and have fairer looking skin? It might need a whole village, but you’ve got to start somewhere right?

You know what to do!

Unlikely Pair Doing Romcoms: Gelli and Bayani for PANSAMANTAGAL

Pansamantagal by Joven Tan holds a lot of promise. They’re not your usual eye candy pair but if you’re combining Gelli De Belen and Bayani Agbayani in a romcom, you’ll definitely get a lot of laughs without even doing complicated things relationship wise. This is produced by Horse Shoe Studios and will be in theaters come March 20. What do they have to offer you say? We asked them during the presscon this afternoon.

Gelli says “ The landscape of promoting things is just so different. In a span of two days our trailer got 3-4 Million views and I hope it translates into the same amount of people who will watch it. It was a friday, it was supposed to be a short trailer for us to view. In this day and age, I thought it was going to be hard, my advise is to get the perfect one, try to make it work, but if you have the signs it won’t work, don’t force it. Move on to the next one. The last movie I made was Sikreto ng Piso, there is no recovery from the talk you do in this project. It is something I have never done and I found it different because it is real. I have a lot of inappropriate words, 14 to be exact, and being with Bayani now is just the same as before. It is less inhibited, he doesn’t care how it looks, but he just is conscious about making it better. We are both more open in exploring our roles. The film industry isn’t dying, we are getting better than 5 years ago. I don’t think it will be bigger than before, because we have a lot of medium, you have to pay for it on streaming sites, but there are still people there who would gladly spend for it and watch. Here I didn’t have to think of things, it is feel good, I just had to do it.“

Bayani adds “I was so happy Chacha is part of this because I felt she was doing it in sync with Ms Perla Bautista, she was that good. This project won’t be seen by kids, it needs a funny mature audience. When we were sent a copy of the trailer, I posted it with friends on Facebook and I didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to be posted yet, I couldn’t take it back because it already went viral and marketing was so mad that I did that, it wasn’t color graded yet, the sound wasn’t done yet but it was already there. In relationships, I usually enjoy the moment, it happens in real life. If you want lessons, go to school, but the time you will lose is something you would regret, so don’t make it a big deal. I am a fan of movies, this one has spunk, this is different and should be something I could proudly say you have never seen something like this. It is the first time you’ll see a movie of this kind. I have a lot of patience, we have worked before in gag shows but being paired in a dramedy of sorts is fun, we are very comfortable and help each other so we throw lines and have lots of materials. When I asked Chacha, I just told her to be more natural. I did miss being the lead actor, I pray for it but I do not force things. I had to hug my director a lot because this happened, I was overwhelmed and I had to do drama in it. We had paranormal activities. I did expect Gelli to be this way, you guys don’t know how she is in real life. The dialogue is risky and it is so different to do things like these in films. I haven’t been paid yet, maybe if Joven Tan earns they will pay me on Wednesday. There are tons of producers who want to make films, we have good directors and cinematographers, I go to festivals and support other ones, they are all good, it’s not dying. Maybe the less people watching in cinemas but it is improving. I was dreaming of working with Gelli and when I saw her, we felt easy because we have common friends. We had to work with Direk’s system, I get goosebumps doing what he wanted us to do. It was magic!“

Dj Chacha of MOR 101.9 also is part of this movie. She says “ I am so happy to be part of this, I was afraid at first because I have experienced people in the industry that has attitude, but these guys are so fun to be with. I only had two things I had to prioritize which is my DZMM stint in the morning and the evening MOR program that I had. Pansamantagal is like my story, I am getting married soon to a man that I thought was only temporary. When I first worked with them, I already have an idea how Bayani works but with Ms. Gelli, I was a bit shy. They both were very nice, so it was easy later on. I didn’t know how to cry on take, so I was expecting the director to scream at me. I wasn’t a DJ here, I am going to be invested in their characters and going to be a little too nosy. We just eat and talk about things, normal things, I was so impressed how Gelli and Bayani could switch acting on and off, roll around the sand but I couldn’t cry in seconds like they do, I hope I do get more projects, like something that would fit me and my schedules because it’s crazy.“

Two broken people find each other in the most weird hours of their lives, maybe, just maybe, this may spark their relationship. Their trailer already had millions of views, more so the interest in Eric Allen’s theme song for the movie and Johnvic De Guzman’s cover of another song. The trailer shows how fun this would be, you just have to take a look at it when it hits theaters on the 20th!

It is funny AF!

ULAN : A Weird and Haunting Love Story

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

ULAN is a new movie produced by Viva and Hooq. It’s their first venture to movie production, but definitely not the last. This movie is well made, let’s get that out of the way. Pinoys have this little known saying that the reason it rains even if it’s sunny is that there’s a pair of “Tikbalang” getting married. A “Tikbalang” is a mythical creature, half man, half horse. Though the general reason for the tale is that even the heavens cannot stop LOVE from happening.

Jennifer from Hooq says “HOOQ has been here since 2015 and this is our first Hooq original to be theatrically released. We have a fabulous partnership with Viva and we have other films with Nadine in our system. We will be seeing one of it tonight.”

She had relationships, fell hard on most of them, found another one, wanted to become hopeful about love and try to be at it again. She learned lessons, finding herself in the same situation, falls with the Prince Charming, then does it again anyway. Then came along a not so perfect guy, who read her stories, found it engaging. This street smart guy may be the next guy to love, but it’s told doing common everyday things. Then flashbacks have really weird interpretations, you’ll stop and be poking fun, but that part I really appreciate because it’s artsy. Albeit not really boyfriend and girlfriend in real life, Carlo Aquino and Nadine Lustre can get you in their relationship, be involved in it and make you invested in it. Then they will surprise you with a twist. You’ll hate him for it.

Nadine Lustre surprised us at the advanced screening of her movie ULAN at the Podium Directors Club

Carlo is indeed a great actor, so is that young Maya in the film. Nadine is the perfect story teller, you’ll be hopeful for her plight all throughout the movie. Will she succeed in finding love she deserves? Or will the heavens be a hindrance?

You should watch this film in Cinemas nationwide starting March 13. Hooq and Viva really did good. They should make more of these stories.
