HBO Asia Showcases PH in FOOD LORE: Island of Dreams

8 directors from Asia, 8 different stories, shot in 8 countries India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and told in HBO through a show called FOOD LORE. Ours is done by Erik Matti who also directed Buybust and Honor Thy Father. This was the brainchild of Singapore based filmmaker Eric Khoo.

Bless the people who did this, as this might be the first time any show of this magnitude is being made and shown on HBO GO and HBO Asia. It is an HBO Originals series. We saw a preview of our episode Island of Dreams. It talks about home, our families, how we celebrate and how it is part of our lives and culture. The first two episodes is by Vietnam, Second is ours, it will be also shown on Tokyo International Film Festival.

Karen Lai the President for Communications of HBO Asia says "We based it around food, but a drama series in food conditions talking about love, tragedy and everything in between. We also have a lot of other shows on HBO GO, more material and more seasons of previous shows and blockbusters on our platform. Hope you enjoy this! The show creator and anthology series last year Folk Lore and we left it to him to choose the directors."

The setting is at Sipalay in Negros. Out of 7,641 islands in the country, why is this special? That's for you to find out. It will be shown starting November 3 9pm (but premiere in Tokyo for the festival October 30). There is really so much to look forward to in FOOD LORE. You should also be proud to see the Philippines included here. People need to discover our cuisine, and our stories.

Greenwich PizzaRap Barkada Blowout!

When things are much bigger, better, we all enjoy it! Not that I’m doing puns, but it’s just about the same feeling with Pizza. It’s why Greenwich has been loved by pinoys over the years, to go all in on toppings, their All In Overload Pizza spells fun in any barkada or office gatherings. Greenwich got us party with several rap artists this evening, play several games and taste the All in Overload Pizza everyone loves. It’s filling, a slice would be enough for you but I had a few. After fun activities, they also showed us dance numbers and a preview of the new Greenwich commercial starring Yassi Pressman, Robi Domingo and Enrique Gil called SAGOT KO NA (which means a person is treating everyone for a meal in Filo). It felt so fun seeing it being played on the web, on TV (very soon) and leading media outlets too. Best of all, it also tells how they enjoyed all the fun and games we had while eating tons of pizza (All in Overload Pizza of course!) which I saw them eating in Market Market a few events ago. (Not just for show, they really enjoy this stuff!).

Rap battle between Negatibo and Rhyma J happened, though I don't get it I could see they're talented talkers :)

Manila Soul, so sick! They'll be representing the country in this year's SEA GAMES. They will win gold!

Kings of Reality Shows

Ariel and Maverick had a show years ago in TV5, and for most of the 90’s and 00’s kids, they enjoy this kind of humor. It’s spontaneous, unscripted, unapologetic and stupid, but always, they get away with it.

I miss Mommy Elvie➕ whom they both adore and fool around at the end of their show. It had a run, but all good things have to end, or so we thought. So, they got all their things together and packed their bags to venture in uncharted territories and did what local artists only dream of, these two went to conquer Hollywood. They filmed this journey via their movie Kings of Reality Shows, to be shown in the PH.

He says “This was 2 years in the making (but was made 10 years ago), so hard to do it because we had to buy it from GMA Films. I approached a lot of people, it’s about a struggling artist who wants to showcase it. In the end, this is dedicated to all the struggling artists in the world. I experienced it when I had to approach friends, it’s like I’m sick, and I learned a lot from it. I don’t want to have regrets, for whatever happens, I don’t want to live in a tent after this movie shows. Maverick is hurt about what happened to us, he got disheartened when our show was shelved. He became spiritual, you will see his journey in this movie. Maverick doesn’t even talk to me now, but I hope whatever happens our friendship still stays. This material, limelight, will all pass but I hope he still considers me as a friend because I do. Pacquiao has given me a lot of help. Christina is also here in the film, I approached her, we are okay, and we are friends. There are a lot of people who have helped, but I do everything. I am the producer, director, actor, editor, writer, sales and marketing, and creatives. We didn’t have working permits because we were shooting small scale, with a small cam because again, this is spontaneous. GMA is supporting us, they’ve been really good people. For me, just having this shown to the public, is my dream. This is our style, hopefully the thinking audience would appreciate it and perhaps learn from it too.”
