Sunday, October 18, 2020

Skin Magical CEO and Founder Ms. Ghie Pangilinan turned the big 40 last Sept. 11th. This was still ECQ period and she wanted to make her day a very memorable one. So she chose to celebrate it with the people from Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal, a center for taking care of abandoned or retired elderly people.

They prepared bags of groceries and assorted clothes. Together with a few staff members, they distributed these to resident lolos and lolas. In return, they thanked her for her kindness and generosity. They were also prepared meals during a short event, health protocols were observed. She has been doing this since 2014 and the folks at the center felt they're never forgotten.

She also didn't forget to treat her 400 employees. A special feast was arranged (physical distancing observed). They each received five kilos of rice and a gift from Ms. Pangilinan as well. She also did the same for her neighbors and tricycle drivers of Sitio Butig, Brgy San Pedro in Morong, Rizal. This is where the Skin Magical manufacturing plant is  located.

Ms. Ghie Pangilinan says “They came to my mind when I was thinking of how to make my birthday special. I often see them before I get into the plant. I have been blessed, and I've always wanted to share them with people who have been supporting me and my company. I felt it’s just but right to share them with others. Our goal is to continue to inspire  Filipinos through locally made brands Skin Magical and Pore It On Cosmeceuticals Solutions, Inc."

She was given gifts and surprised by her husband, celebrity endorsers of her various brands like Dimples Romana, Jolina Magdangal, Joseph

Aside from exterior changes, comfort is a priority for the interior. Add to that, it has fuel efficiency, sport mode and tons of safety technology. Pre collision system, lane departure alert, will save you from harm when it matters most. The LTD variant has a two toned roof exclusive for that grade.

Ianna Dela Torre’s PINAPA Dance Challenge

Friday, October 16, 2020

Pinapa was released on May 2019 and has been popular among vloggers. ABSCBN ad prom thought it was right to make this song about family love into a contest to share positivity and good vibes.

The prize was actually Ianna’s own 18th birthday fund, but thought this would serve better if they got prizes for people who are confined in the comforts of their home, to help them through the pandemic. The contestants are of different age groups, some are dancers, some are ordinary joes, alone in their rooms and dancing to the beat.

During the zoom event, they awarded 10 consolation prizes to several groups. Then proceeded to give 3rd place (10K) to Kwader Knows, 2nd placer (20K) to Sugar and Space, and the grand prize (30K) to Mastermind.

Congratulations! I hope this helps a lot of people, aside from the cash prizes, they also received gift packs and Ianna’s merch. Jonathan Manalo also announced the most creative award and gave it to PhilXpose (who did the dance number while at sea!).

Later on, PhilXPose received the Best Dance Cover and Best Choreography award, getting them a total of 18K prize pot.

All well deserved!

Upjohn Holds Talk on Chronic Pain Management

Thursday, October 15, 2020

Being homebound is a good thing nowadays. If you suffer chronic pain, it is a little challenging as tele-consultation can only do so much. With this, Pfizer’s GM for Upjohn Philippines Ms. Melissa Comia says “Under the new normal, it is important to still talk to our doctors and manage the condition, so it does not get us away from life.”

Dr. Iris Thiele Isip-Tan the Chief of UP Medical Informatics Unit says “I have a low pain threshold and it is one of the reason I am in this profession. Today, people suffer from delayed procedures, but telemedicine will have to stay until the dust settles. It offers hope, patients should prepare, find the teleclinic, get accompaniment and inform your doctor, prepare your gadgets and make sure devices are charged. Prepare your medical records, list down your questions, sign the consent form. It can be done via Video consultations or Audio Calls. You can describe the pain and rate it, tell them episodes, location, medical treatments you have tried and what activities trigger the pain. Follow directions and clear things by asking the right questions, also when to have follow up care and the next consultation. Make sure you also give feedback if you are satisfied with the doctors consultation.”

Rheumatologist Dr. Lisa Teaboco says “Joint pains are nothing new but telemedicine is a new strategy. Knowledge, Indoor Lifestyle and Teleconsultation is KIT. Languages are complex and what is important is to ask further clarification is needed. It can’t be just “basta masakit” or “may rayuma” as it is too broad. Males 30-50yo with history and high alcohol intake are prone to gout. Osteoporosis usually happen to older females but pain can have many causes. Staying at home is still done under these conditions, weight reduction and exercise is important. That is 30-150 minute physical activity per week and can be done in many ways. If you have kids with game consoles, there are activities with active games available even for elder generation. Reduce on simple sugars and cut back on salt. It is also important to note if after diagnosis, you still need further consultation, then doctors can recommend face to face consultation.”

Teleconsultation is in its infancy in the country, but hopefully, taking care of patients will be easy and a hybrid approach can be adopted to make sure of accuracy. We also have to have internet connection that is capable of making this possible for all, no matter what socio economic condition we have in the country.

Follow doctors advise, hopefully this would inspire and make all of us keep moving to take charge of chronic pain. Thanks to Upjohn for holding this virtual press conference. I learned a lot!
