What have Filipinos been looking for online?

Wednesday, December 23, 2020

Things are very tough these days and getting savings through online shopping have been really easy especially these days when people can't go out, and the only way we could transact is online. I've been using Carousell for a couple of years now. In the app, I've had really good finds especially the film photography products I adore. I also found several chairs, bar tables and computer products in the app which makes things easier for me especially when I look for users who are quite near me so it would be easy and safer to transact. People have been also getting cars and real estate properties here since it's still doing the same things they've been doing in OLX which was originally their platform. I'm so glad this existed especially during the pandemic.

Carousell was also quite nice when they waived fees for some of the transactions especially for the automotive market. That in itself is a huge help especially for businesses who are also suffering economically. They also launched #ChooseToCare which is a fundraiser for the benefit of Lung Center of the Philippines. They also held The Great Property Sale so they could give discounts and more relief for people who were finding homes during the pandemic.

What's great is that Kantar research revealed that 80% of Filipinos are actually okay with re-gifting. These days, Filipinos are apparently searching more for iPhone and Samsung, gaming consoles like Nintendo Switch or PS4, desinger brands like Louis Vuitton or fast fashion items from Zara. They are also looking for Macbooks from Apple, notebooks from Asus, while some look for second hand cars like BMW and Toyota. With some of the items in Carousell being pre loved or second hand, it would be a nice place to find these mobile phones, laptops, bags or stuff you need around the house. If you haven't tried Carousell yet, or perhaps want to sell something too, go download it off Google Play and the App Store, because it's convenient to find stuff there.

Try it out!

“50 Acts of Kindness” from UFC

UFC is our home grown Banana Ketchup brand whom we loved for over 50 years. Today, they've grown their product line into various condiments and they've acheived success with hard work, bringing to homes of Filipinos the same kind of love for food and meal UFC is a part of.

This holiday season, UFC wanted to give back to Filipino families and they found it so right to launch their 50 Acts of Kindness campaign. They got the assistance of celebrity endorsers and approached selected families in the country that have been affected by the pandemic, to give them relief from their situation and perhaps an opportunity to save their lives, one family at a time.

For starters, they got Ms. Aiai Delas Alas to bring help to Ronald Sto. Domingo. He's a choreographer and had some projects before the pandemic, but after all that happened these past few months, the loss of livelihood took a toll on his earnings. He resorted to enter the food business and sold products online in order to fend for his family. But he didn't just end there, he also helped other people in the same situation and taught them how to make a living too. Some of his earnings went to frontliners as for him, he finds happiness if he gets to help others, which for UFC finds amazing. So on December 13 and 14, he and other 6 families received the "Sama-samang Sarap ng Pamilya bundle from UFC" which consists of a whole Sari Sari Store, the signage for the business, and tons of Nutriasia products and groceries. They also gave them laptop computers and wifi so they can sustain their business online while the pandemic is happening. They also got Gloc 9 to nominate a family to receive the same package, so that they too feel the spirit of Christmas.

There's a lot to be thankful for, but UFC hopes these 50 acts of kindness would be able to help a lot of people. They also want to help their families, to earn and make a living. Here's hoping they would be able to sustain their businesses, and make this project a success!

That's a nice thing UFC, good job!
