Making the Band Again!

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

I was in a band once in college and we did not get through the music industry that much because we only did it for fun and maybe there were only a couple of friends and band enthusiasts that took notice of us. I know how hard it is to get publicized in this industry because I have been there and done that.

We made amends with ourselves and accepted we could not continue anymore because we had our own lives too. We studied and all graduated in our own Engineering fields, now we have our own folks and families to take care of and we still reminisce what we might have been. Today the Internet has been a boundless medium for aspiring artists and music producers who would like to hear something different. I wonder if we tried one more time and got our act together again. If it happened now, would our dreams of getting the band and our music discovered become reality? It's a long shot I know but if you think about it, everybody deserves a second chance. Maybe someday if the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus allow it, they can let us try once again. There are interesting web sites I'll try out soon like YouMusic.com - Got Music? Find Fans! Love Music? Find Talent! They have Music Video and Audio Charts so everyone can see how you fare in the battle. Musicians can also get their Gig schedules, CD Releases, and services publicized because the connection is already there we just need to seize the opportunity and show the world our brand of music.

If this does not work, then maybe we all would realize that we would all have a happy feeling that we have not wasted out time but have done our best. Maybe get an act together and prove that second time is a charm right?!

I wish the band had a reunion too!

MAX AND IAGO : A LOVE STORY

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

I watched this Portuguese series in youtube and I am kinda hooked on it right now. As absurd as it sounds this is a story between Max and Iago. Yeah you heard it right, its a love story between two guys. I'm not into telenovelas even in local tv, I just happened to find this randomly in youtube when I was browsing yesterday and now I have not left the PC for a minute.

They have a horrible place to start with because Iago had a long list of offenses from the law. Their parents did not approve of it too and they had to go through various hurdles to get accepted in the society and the people they live with. After all that fiasco at home, Iago could not find a job too. He had to steal so they can have money to get away but he was set up by other bandits. A jewlery heist of sorts. Then his mother died while on their last hit. After all that, they became more aloof with Max's parents. They tried to fix it but they ran into trouble as Max got kidnapped. He almost died.

I hope you also watch this series so you can take part on where I got hooked while going my way through youtube... this is something else and I recommend you watch it!

Responsible Partying!

It's spring break once again and studs and gals from all over the North America are going down to beaches to experience the splash southern tourist spots are known for. A lot of preparation for food, entertainment and luxurious boat rides are on their way but before anything else... I would like to impart a few reminders before you set sail.

If you plan to fish, make sure you have the right equipment. I know how hard it is to catch a fish for dinner when the whole bay is actually densely populated. So chances are you will be going deeper than the usual. There are local regulations that you need to follow too, I mean you might end up in a fish sanctuary and get jail time when you are seen eating an almost extinct kind right?

Do not overload the boat. There are thousands of people who passed away in my side of the world because the MARINA and Philippine Ports Authority allowed several ships to sail even if they are overloaded. The US has strict rules governing the amount of people that can ride on a boat. If they catch you having too many on board, there are corresponding punishments to be imposed on law breakers. So if you have gatecrashers on your party, get a bouncer to weed them out!

Don't Drink and Boat! The last thing you want is to have accidents while out in the sea. An out of control boat is more uncontrollable than cars driven by drunk drivers. The same rule applies in waterways too because the blood alcohol limit is still .08. If you plan to party a lot, make sure you have the boat captain drinking soda instead. Same fizz on the beverage did not hurt anybody anyway, just tell them it's spiked so they won't complain.

Nobody said that partying is a sin but making sure the people aboard your sea dwelling craft are safe should always be a priority. Taking spring break to a whole new level of enjoyment is still on the list but if someone gets hurt, it is inexcusable. Everybody needs to end in one piece so make sure you take necessary precaution if you plan to party hard. Just my 2 cents on this matter!

Caloocan City "Kalokohan in the City"

I've spent my college years in Caloocan City since Engineering Majors only start in that campus. I really hate what I'm hearing right now in radio stations and news papers. Its not surprising that Andres Bonifacion would probably go down his monument that fronts the dilapidated Gotesco Grand Central Mall because of the problems surrounding the debate on who owns the commercial complex that stands on the former land of Cecilio Apostol Elementary school.

The lease of the 22,685 square meter lot o June 14, 1983 has been sold on September 19, 2008 after the courts allowed it. But then the City Government never forgot about the taxes the establishment owns that amounts to almost 723 Million in the last 23 years. This is the real property tax that was not settled but both parties are crying foul because apparently the Go family was being asked for money by the incumbent Mayor Echiverri. It's a huge mess and just thinking about how old the mall is makes it doubly furious. Who owns it now? They are all saying its their own but once the City Government already "sherrifed" this property there will be huge fights from stall owners, the Go Family and the forces from the local government. Something big will erupt soon in the north and a lot of people will lose their businesses and jobs. I hope someone takes action soon from the national government.

I have my memories in Caloocan, I just wouldn't like these people to put blood on the floor once the city government takes action.
