Jason and Melai Spotted 10/29/2013

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Hmmm.. You guys probably know that I've been trying to find latest photos of Jason and Isay for the longest time. Last one wasn't mine and twas a couple BTS shots of their prenup. I haven't seen them for a long time and I was so sad. Honestly it's okay with me because i'm sure they've seen a LOT of people... They've got millions of fans but I was so happy to have met them again a while ago.

Jason didn't recognize me but for me that's okay. Isay had to remind him who i was and i figured i had to re-introduce myself. Maybe i figured they have met so many media people in their lifetime and I'm just a cute blogger hahahaha

I was so happy to see them in the ABSCBN lobby when I got down of the elevator. I immediately snapped a few shots and felt that was rude of me... Naexcite yata ako hahaha... But really when I saw them I immediately turned into a fan. I wondered why are they here? Do they have a new show? Are they doing something new? I got no answers lol pero okay lang :) just seeing them was enough for me. :)

Isay was so nice. She said she remembered me hayyy... Look at her holding her tummy. I am so happy for these two. Hopefully we can talk a bit more soon about their baby and plans after the wedding. I hope i can get to cover that too. Hay :( so I'm just sharing these latest photos with you guys so you know how they look like now. Yun lang po hehe. Do you remember the first time you've seen them? When was it? What did you do!? :)

The LEE Style Army DIY Denim Workshop

I didn't know how to make a pair of jeans til I got to this awesome event last week with LEE the jeans company. They held a DIY denim workshop for online media and celebrities at the fab URBN Bar at Fort Bonifacio.

I'm not a pro at this but the people from LEE basically didn't hold you back in interpreting your own style in creating a one of a kind, original pair of jeans. The dry treatments of making crevice like things on the fabric plus cuts and slashes from real deal tools from the manufacturer would tell you OH so this is how they made it.

Honestly at first I felt so bad because they were damaging the already good pieces from LEE but when I saw the other things that the designers made, oh so that's what they wanted us to do. Maybe they want to just have you spark your creativity and that's exactly what I tried to do afterwards.

The brand wants you to STAY CURIOUS. I really appreciated that part because they don't want us to just wear plain jeans... they want us to make our own masterpieces no matter how little skill we had in making these jeans. From dry treatments of sandpapers, cutting, slashing, combing, they all had that well taken cared of.

Then on the wet stage they asked us to suit up and use different kinds of paint. I had fun with that and got busy with whites and neon too. Then we got busy smashing those buttons and studs in. That part was a wee bit difficult together with the machine we had to line up for to get the actual LEE label sewn in. We had some help with that admittedly but we had to choose which ones we had to use.

Then in the end, we had really great masterpieces and some not so good amateur ones but really, LEE got their point across. No matter how much time we have painstakingly spent in making our new jeans, we only think of one thing... we made it on our own.. we used our curiosity to make good things happen... and this one's for keeps!

Thank you so much to LEE for spending time with us and feeding our imagination... for feeding our curiosity. Now we can go and make sure our next pair of jeans are going to be original, unique and pretty much a basic item turned special. That's how we all feel I guess, it doesn't need to be expensive. We just need to have the right tools and the right people to connect and teach us how to do it. I've got a pretty good feeling we'll also get to see some of these shown in the Philippine Fashion Week, which I'll tell you in a bit. For the mean time, please do check their official Facebook page and website for more information about their latest collection.

Experience History at Manila Hotel's Red Masquerade Ball

Monday, October 28, 2013

I've only been in Manila Hotel twice. One was when I was a kid; and two was just a few weeks ago when they celebrated their 101st Anniversary. They chose the Maynila Grand Ballroom and I only felt quite nostalgic when I got inside this almost 40's pseudo American war era vibe that they were gunning for. I felt right in that time... that I was really there; complete with the same people who probably existed then. I felt so grateful I got to experience this complete with a ballroom full of people enjoying the music of that age and to stay in Manila Hotel with some of Manila's famed bloggers was definitely a plus.

Spirited, strong and stylish... we donned ourselves with the theme of that evening. We all wore RED here and there and it was fun doing that with a bunch of influencers. I felt right at home.

There was a live band right front and center providing some of the well loved classics that the lounge singer also adored. I danced quite a bit in the past and ballroom was definitely my forte. I was acting like I didn't know how to so I wouldn't be forced to dance in front of the others. But yes, I still did dance after a few chinks of wine.

I guess this thing that I'm seeing was Manila Hotel's charm. I often ask myself "if only these walls could talk"... there must have been hundreds of stories and real history made in this establishment that they have only witnessed, endured and made part of.

A short note saying "Shall we dance?" was a deal breaker for most of the people in my table. I stood up and had fun with their in house dance instructors. They were pretty good at it too. They adjust accordingly to their partners and I've seen dance sport level routines on the floor, if you want to get risky they have that as well.

Food was awesome and service was just right. I had tons of those Quail eggs and chicken sate which is part of the Manila Hotel Sampler. You should get that and their signature drinks.

But I've never seen such a spirited blogger and dancer like my friend Rod Magaru. Eventually, the dance instructor gave up because she was tired after a couple of dance exhibitions with Rod hahaha joke! =)

Paul of PaulThePRGuy also gave it a go. He did quite good, I think he'd pass for a model than a dancer though.. peace Paul! Hehe

We surely had so much fun and almost had to call it a night but that wasn't the end of it. It's going to be a bigger and better evening by marching off the TAP ROOM which is just a few doors nearby.

They've got really great booze on this joint and would probably appeal for the yuppies. The place is also friendly to smokers, plus it's cozy for a group with friends who just want to have a good time. There are single ladies too, so you don't really need a date haha.

Plus they've got REALLY GREAT entertainment with the help of this live band where we had so much fun singing the tunes with. A few expats frequent the place and even though its raining WE WERE PACKED! The band also agreed to sing a few more songs even after their set because we had to request for an encore!

For reservations (if you want to reserve tables in Tap Room) call 527-0011 local 1328 or if you want to reserve a table or two to join the ball next month (Slated November 17th if I'm not mistaken) please call 527-0011 and have your historical and iconic fix in Manila Hotel. Check out Cafe Ilang Ilang too if you plan to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in this hotel. Experience historic Manila the way our heroes lived in the past, stay at the Manila Hotel and get experience it unfold right before your eyes.
