Why "It's Showtime!'s Reina ng Tahanan" Works!

Friday, September 24, 2021

My family and I are have religiously watched It's Showtime's top rating segment Reina ng Tahanan. It's a part of the show that has been innovated and co-developed by the one and only unkabogable star Vice Ganda. Initially, it was the innate curiosity about the lives of other people that lead us to actually love the part of the program, but lately, things have changed.

Instead of us just eavesdropping about their lives, it became an opportunity to learn from it. Vice took so much time to talk to contestants, mothers from different families, and made that particular segment a gold mine for invaluable lessons. All of which, are from ordinary extraordinary people. Vice makes all make sense, make it relatable because Vice knows, we all have shared feelings. It's so smart to actually think about that... then they go the extra mile and involve family, friends, loved ones, and hear the stories from them, ask questions they don't usually talk about at home and see with a silver lining (yes Catriona) how they could resolve things, or if not, learn from it and make their lives better after their stint in the contest. I've seen a lot of people cry because of the show, and in some odd way, I'm not surprised because that's probably why the show was conceptualized.

Vice also makes it a point to tackle social issues. In recent episodes, Vice mentioned his utter amazement about corrupt politicians and how their sons/daughters would be briefed if they know their forefathers were convicted and proven to have stolen money from people. Aside from that (a little over two days ago), Vice also talked about how some people have the gall to post bible verses and quotes on social media but support a thief. That's just amazing seeing how Vice is using her platform, all for the greater good. It's why we're all hooked, and why the show absolutely works!

For that, THANK YOU Vice! I can't wait to hear and see more on the show!

(Oh by the way, Vice is headed to the US on October for her concert called VAX GANDA: A Dose of Laughter. That'll be on Pechanga, Temecula on October 15 and 16, and in Mohegan Sun in Connecticut come October 24. For tickets visit Pechanga.com or StarMediaEntertainment.com and get one, I hear they're almost sold out!).

VICE GANDA's Much Awaited US Concert: Vax Ganda: A Dose Of Laughter

Missing Vice Ganda this afternoon as the Unkabogable star wasn't in the show (It's Showtime!), me thinking she must be really preparing for this October's US concert called Vax Ganda: A Dose Of Laughter.

Witnessing the very successful Gandemic: The VG-Tal Concert a couple months ago would just be something like a preview to what she can do. Vice actually just didn't impress with her song and dance numbers, but whoa... the fashion content in that show could rival any international concert of a pop star. Yes, she didn't shortchange us in that department, I couldn't say much, but I think those pieces were designed for her, something that the unkabogable star could only carry. Now I think she's going to have new ones in the new concert called VAX GANDA: A Dose of Laughter, in Pechanga, Southern California (Temecula) on October 15 and 16 and at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut on October 24. Guests include MC and Lassy, plus the Queen of Teleserye Songs Angeline Quinto (plus a very special guest that's going to be a big surprise!).

What to expect? Vice Ganda and a team of creatives will take care of fun and laughter and Marvin Querido will handle musical direction (he's got 34 years of experience in the music industry, has handled several concerts in a span of 15 years) so you're sure to get entertained. It's been a while since Vice has done something with a live audience, which is why she's so excited to do this!

She says "It has been a while since I've done a concert in the US. I haven't stepped foot on a stage with a live audience for over a year and suffice to say, I super miss my fans and the huge madlang people. Nothing energizes me more that human interaction, your positivity and laughter. I can't wait to feel that again in Pechanga and Mohegan Sun this October, I hope I get to see you there!"

As of recent, tickets have been sold out in Connecticut and only a few are left for the Pechanga. For those who are looking for tickets, simply head on to Pechanga.com and StarMediaEntertainment.com. For updates, go follow Vice's social channels @vicegandako on Twitter, @praybetbenjamin on IG and Vice Ganda on FB and YouTube.

You must be excited too! I can't blame you!

Alex Gonzaga's Farm Tour Prank with Loren Legarda

Monday, September 20, 2021

What started as a tour in Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda's family farm and property has become a stressful prank courtesy of funny YouTuber and comedy star Alex Gonzaga.

The place is nice, they employed ecological practices to grow flowers, vegetables, medicinal plants which they also harvested and consume in real life. Though we know Ms. Loren to be a strict hard hitting journalist on TV, she's quite relaxed telling Alex more about what she could also do with the plants seen inside the farm. She also gave Alex some to take home so she could share with her folks and husband if ever they needed Aloe Vera for hair treatment. Alex likened the place to popular Sonya's Garden in Tagayatay, and true enough they got some of it for a small salad serving later on in the tour. She also explained Republic Act 9003 Ecological Solid Waste Management Law, which she authored in 2001.

While walking in the property, Ms. Loren found Alex scratching, and immediately, Ms. Loren called a hospital's dermatological head, suggesting antihistamine. They were calling her Toni most of the time, she got stressed even more. She acted really itchy, cried too, when Ms. Loren pulled out a tube of topical steroid from her bag (she's that ready!), Alex Gonzaga then revealed that it was a prank.

Oh Alex! You got the Deputy Speaker fooled, hook line and sinker!

Watch the prank unfold here! So silly!
